An outpouring of compassion for the son of Melissa Jenkins, the St. Johnsbury Academy teacher slain on Sunday, is mounting, with efforts throughout the community to raise funds for the 2-year-old boy.

On Friday, the Academy community of which Jenkins was a part for the past decade as a devoted and much-loved science teacher, will hold a Variety Clothes Day, in which students and staff and faculty will wear pink and make donations to help raise money for the Melissa Jenkins Memorial Trust.

In a news release issued on Wednesday by the academy, academy spokesman Joe Healy said Friday's fundraiser will go toward the trust established in Melissa's name. "The dress code for Friday is to wear something pink, a color Melissa wore often, in memory of her. Pink ribbons are available for all students, faculty and staff so that all are able to participate."

Local businesses are on board with helping to raise funds for the Melissa Jenkins Memorial Fund, as well. Some are already asking their staffs to wear pink on Friday.

The Caledonian-Record will donate all proceeds from paper sales today to the memorial trust.

Darcie McCann, executive director of the Northeast Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, is assisting with the efforts to raise money to help Ty. The effort has been streamlined to one trust account at Passumpsic Savings Bank, to be administered by a local attorney and certified public accountant who have volunteered.

"All branches of Passumpsic Bank have been notified of this memorial trust, and people can also drop donations off at any branch as well sending them in the mail," said McCann on Wednesday. "The intent is to provide for her son, Tyrell Robertson."

Checks can be made out to: Melissa Jenkins Memorial Trust, c/o Passumpsic Savings Bank, 497 Railroad St., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.

There is an earlier article on here that says they met through an online dating site in 2008.

This article says they were married last summer: http://www.wcax.com/story/17279435/suspects-family-says-police-have-wrong-man

"The Prue family lives on a rural road in Waterford. Allen has lived there his entire life with his mom and sister. Patricia joined the family when the two married last July."

I agree with you pipinnh that it is interesting how quickly they discovered her. I recall one article that said something like they were checking out all the remote pull offs but I still wonder how they found her so quickly. (I am wondering if they had another vehicle sighting of their saturn in that area that was not in the affidavit? As they pretty much knew from the first hour who Melissa had been meeting with)...

I recall a similar article and a video that showed some recent tire tracks in the mud along the side of the road. The video might not have been the actual location, but used to demonstrate what LE was looking for. Just places along the side of the road that looked recently disturbed.

Remember it is still early spring in Vermont and people aren't out hiking, fishing, etc. that much during this time of year. Also the ground is thawing and muddy, so it will show footprints and such that are fresh.

Prue's sister and mom insisted initially their brother and son, and his wife could never have done something like this

His sister this morning (someone probably posted this) now acknowledges what her brother did and hopefully the family will continue to show compassion. But I have to wonder what the defending attorney has to say.<modsnip>

I get that, but did someone other than LE discover her? Did LE canvas the area? Wasn't the location 10 miles away from where her car was located? Seems she was discovered pretty quickly. How did they know where to look? :waitasec:

I thought I read some pages back (maybe actually in the avadavit) that people saw it in the river, people picnicking or something. I don't think it was from a tip. Someone help me out here?? :)

I found it really interesting from Surfie's link on the Prue background that they were calling HER exhusband and harassing him and than she filed for a restraining order against HIM. That is just so fishy! I bet they were trying to get money out of him or something.

Something just is not RIGHT about those people..

I've seen this dynamic before. Major personality disorder. The ex in the case continued to tell anyone that would listen that her ex-husband just couldn't let her move on, all the while he lived across the country, NEVER contacted her, and would have chewed his arm off to get even further away from her. SIX YEARS after the divorce (that SHE initiated), she called him up and ranted about how he needed to "get over her". This would never have been believed had he not tape recorded the conversation. Attorneys on BOTH sides were freaked at this. She later arranged an attempt on his life, and when THAT failed miserably, she told him she hired a hit on him. He spent the next few years running for his life.

So, yeah, I see this "fishy" event with Patricia as being a screaming red flag of MAJOR defect.

I cannot cut and paste from the PDF file, but I am pretty sure it said that HE confessed and told LE where to find her body.

Patricia Prue's first husband, Jeffry Witkoff, 38, of Littleton, Colo., said the news was shocking.

"If somebody told me she's a murderer, that's nothing that would pop into her head. When I knew her she did a have history of mental issues, for anxiety and depression and social anxiety," he said. They were legally separated in 2007 and divorced in 2009, he said.

Thanks Surfie, If anybody is collecting documentation for this case, this article should definitely be included.

Here are some facts, assuming the article is accurate:
-Allen Prue, 30, of Waterford, and his wife Patricia L. Prue, 33, are charged with second degree murder for the killing of St. Johnsbury Academy science teacher Melissa Jenkins.
-Allen Prue was working as an independent contractor for The Caledonian-Record
-Allen Prue was employee of Bob Ailes Roofing in St. Johnsbury for seven years, he quit in January 2012. "For the first six and a half years or so, Prue was a good employee who was never a problem, said Ailes"
-Allen Prue used to plow Melissa's driveway
-Allen, and his mother "D" and sister "S" all worked at Maple Grove Farms about a decade ago. His late father, "R", used to supply pallets to the farm.
-Melissa Jenkins' mother, "PAJ", has been a longtime employee of Maple Grove Farms.
-According to a Boston Globe report, Allen Prue's relatives said the couple met through an online dating service in 2008 and Patricia Prue had no tie to Jenkins.
-According to former employer, Bob Ailes, after Prue married Patricia in the summer of 2011, Allen changed.
-Patricia and Allen had been together for two or three years before they married in North Concord in September 2011. Health department records show they married on Sept 9 2011.
-Allen Prue's sister also said that Patricia has chronic health issues including depression, diabetes and panic attacks.
-Caledonia Court records show Patricia Prue was considered disabled and received SSI. She receives food stamps.
-Patricia's name at the time of her marriage to Allen was Witkoff. Court records state she was born Patricia L. Osborne in Rome, N.Y. Also known as Patricia L. Osborne and was born in Rome, N.Y.
-It sounds like Allen grew up in the general area in VT.
-The court folder for Patricia Prue's criminal case history notes a temporary relief from abuse order was issued on March 20, (2012) with an expiration date of April 3 (2012). The parties in the abuse order are listed as Patricia L. Prue and JHW, her ex-husband, who is listed with an address of *advertiser censored* in Littleton, Colo. JHW said Patricia's claim for a restraining order was that he had been harassing her by telephone. JHW and Patricia were married in either 2004 or 2005. Their marriage fell apart in 2007 but did not divorce until 2009.
-Other than a 2010 small claims court file in which Prue was a defendant, there do not appear to have been criminal, civil or family cases involving either Prue.

I tried to hide the names of any innocent family members. In my eyes they are all victims of this horrible crime and I hope they can all find some peace.

To answer your question TexasLil regarding this:

25-Mar Sun 8:13 PM Tracfone called AP's phone :waitasec: Why call AP's phone if they were together?

I think they did a "test" phone call to see if the phone number or name would appear on the caller ID.
