IIRC, that was not confirmed by the trooper last night when asked by a reporter during the last briefing, but not sure.

video of the Mayor

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call 360-428-3211, or email scinv@co.skagit.wa.us.

It wasn't confirmed. I read that it was a woman in a fitting room who reported that she heard the gunman yelling a woman's name as he shot people.

Hi SophieRose, nice to have you here and to see your posts again. Thank you. Possibly, the initial report from a witness in the local press was what was being referred to highlighted below.

]According to State Patrol Sgt. Mark Francis, four women were killed and one man was airlifted in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

She said she was in the Macy’s women’s dressing room when she heard “what sounded like four balloons popping, and I thought that was strange because I hadn’t seen any balloons.”

“Then I heard seven or eight more, and I just stayed quiet in the dressing room because it just didn’t feel right. And it got very quiet. And then I heard a lady yelling for help, and a man came and got me and another lady, and we ran out of the store.”

I doubt that he was targeting a specific group or family that he knew ---someone would have recognized him by now, IMO.

Dan Springer, on FNC, just confirmed that 'the shooter was heard yelling a woman's name several times' just before he began shooting..

Latest updates from #CascadeMallShooting now up on Facebook

Someone by now has to know who this guy is. He looks very young to me even mid teens. I don't think he purchased a weapon at the Mall or the ammo. Imo, he looks way too young to legally purchase a firearm. JMO

Is this going to be another tragic case where the shooter's family is also found murdered when they figure out who he is and where he lives?:(

If he wasn't picked up by someone I believe he lives close to the same area and may have quickly walked back to his home and entered like he never left.

I think they know his name, know the names of the deceaed, and know the family roles and have a good idea regarding the reason he did he it. moo

Yeh and i thought leaving the gun there indicates that he accomlished his mission and had no furhter plans for violence.

Starting to think he may be dead

All of which takes us back to family affair moo

I am so sick of these killings with multiple innocent others being caught up in the hate and wickedness of the shooter. Imo, the motive will be surreal and trivial just like so many others have been with no rhyme or reasoning to them.

Especially if the shooter is a teen. They seem to go into a blind murderous rage at the drop of a hat when anything, even small stupid stuff, doesn't go their way.

I don't believe all of these victims are related to the shooter. It doesn't really seem to matter either to these type of shooters. They will kill totally innocent people to get their revenge.

The only way they may all be related is if the females were there to get their makeup applied for a special occasion such as a wedding. The male victim may have been with his wife. If they are all related then they were all there for a reason at the same time which does make me think it could have been for a happy special occasion.:( I don't know which is sadder....killing so many in his family or killing innocent others he didn't even know. Either way it is such a tragedy that some think violence is the answer to their so called perceived problems.

Why terrorize innocent others just to get even with someone else. He could have done this at home or gone to their home if he was bound and determined to murder someone that may have displeased the .. Gah! So so senseless.

IMO

After reading the latest press release, it looks to me like he hid the rifle in the bushes outside the mall and went inside the mall to find his intended victim. Once he found her (all but 1 victim was female), he went to retrieve the rifle and the shooting began. I thought I read in a very early report that most of the victims were elderly, so probably just in the shooters way. I don't know how to word that, so sorry if it sounds insensitive. Since one was apparently a teenager, she was probably the target and the male victim was with her. I think the shooter is 14 or 15-yrs.old. Someone knows who he is. :moo:

I agree for the most part. But I think it is strange that no one, apparently, has identified him yet. It seems like if he was a local , there would be lots of people who would ID him.

When I looked up "where to purchase a hunting rifle in Burlington, Wa" one of the stores listed was Champs Sports, which is in Cascade Mall, but I only see clothing and accessories on their website. There is a Champs Sports website for ordering guns that gives a LA, Ca address but when I click on the link for the business website it takes me to the store website.

Champs Sports is near Macy's:

I wonder if he would have ordered the rifle in advance and then picked it up from the store.

Since the shooter is so young, I'm wondering if he had a GF that just broke up with him working at Macy's and if she is one of the victims b/c they said age range of victims is teen to seniors.

I do think IMO that one victim, a teen, was his intended victim but I think the others who were shot were innocent bystanders who were working/shopping in the vicinity. The male victim likely tried to intervene to protect others but was also shot.

Re the rifle being hidden in the bushes outside the mall ... there is no sign of the rifle in surveillance pics of the gunman entering the mall so I think he purchased it inside the mall. MOO

I wonder if the 4 killed were family? Got a feeling that is the case - I dont know why tho!!

This is horrible, what is wrong with people? Seems there's no safe place anymore.

It was said earlier (paraphrased) that he entered the mall and didn't have a gun, but he then left the mall and came back a short while later with a gun.

I agree with you, Katy. Something just isn't right with them not being able to identify this kid (imo) by now. Many hours have passed by now. Isn't this town rather small in size? Someone that knows him would have recognized him by now, I think. Even, if he has done as other shooters have done before and killed his own parents/siblings before going to the Mall to carry this out he has to have friends, or even those who know him by sight. Even if not in school anymore if he is from there someone would remember him from school or even neighbors.

So it does make me wonder too if he is not from that town. It seems like to me the most important thing for LE to do now would come out and identify him by name which would peek interest in those who already know him. They may be able to help LE locate him and where he may have gone.

But it seems LE has no clue who this guy is or where he could be since they are still telling everyone to be alert and cautious.

If they knew who he is I think the media would have already picked up on LE going to his home with a SW.

Since he left his firearm there I don't think he has any plans of hurting himself. He was smart enough to know not to leave the Mall with the gun still in his hand. This is how he got away. He blended in with everyone else who was coming in and out. I still think he is too young to legally be able to purchase a weapon but we will see.

Puzzling.
