I hope law enforcement has the presence of mind to video or photograph everybody that shows up at the funeral, as well as any of the other gatherings of friends and family. The person responsible for this may show up in the footage.........and may have helped search as well.

Did Cheryl have something important, or of value in her purse (or on her cellphone) that someone else wanted?
What kind of info would be with Cheryl besides the basics of what a woman would keep in her purse? Was there paperwork in her purse? A flash drive?
Her credit cards have not been used. Her phone has not been used.
I wonder if her house keys were found?
Were the locks on the house changed?

IMOO.

If Cheryl wanted to commit suicide, why even bring along a purse and cellphone?
Why ditch them elsewhere?
Why not leave those items at home, along with the badge? She could have called her co-worker from her house and left the phone there, powered down, but it didn't happen that way.
I cannot reconcile that this is a suicide.
It doesn't make sense to me.
Cheryl seems like she was the target. Why and by whom?
IMOO.
She didn't commit suicide. I just listened to the phone call between Pickard and the reporter. He is ambiguous calling it a suspicious death. But towards the end he says they're investigating a crime.

Yes, I heard that too, a crime. But isn't suicide a crime?

According to Google, it's no longer a crime. I'm not sure which source to quote, as there are many. Of course, Wikipedia is one, but I really don't like to use them as a source. ;)

I found this:

"With that said, all 50 states had laws stating that assisted suicide is a felony. Currently there is no law against the act of committing suicide in the United States."

http://mentalhealthdaily.com/2014/07/24/is-suicide-illegal-suicide-laws-by-country/

So, perhaps it isn't a crime?
IMOO.

Sounds like it's not a crime. I'm so curious why they won't just call it a homicide. I really think things are going to change after today. This is such a mystery.

It is interesting to note what is written about the words suicide and homicide:

"Suicide is defined for Medical Examiner
death certification purposes as a death
from self-inflicted injury with evidence of
intent to die.
Homicide is defined as the action of one
person directly causing the death of
another. All murders are homicides, not
all homicides are murder. An example
may be an unintentional firearms-related
hunting death."

Maybe they can't be 100 percent definitive this is a homicide, per say, just incase it is self- inflicted, on purpose?

I'm thinking because they haven't determined cause of death and/or they are waiting for lab reports to come back. Washington State Crime Lab is pretty backed up. There are 6,000 rape kits waiting to be tested and there have been some fairly high profile crimes where it took a month or more to get lab results back.

This makes sense.

Correct - suicide is NOT a crime. In fact, in Washington State, physician-assisted suicide for terminally ill patients is not a crime.

Yes, I read that in the article, and the article is from 2014. I wasn't sure if in 2016 that was still the case.

I wonder if they were able to determine whose blood was in Cheryl's car? Or at least determine if it was Cheryl's blood or not.

And how long it's been there. If it was just a smear or two, it was likely dried up when the car was found...

I agree with you. The Hutch is great organization for sure but the idea that they are in a fierce competition with evil big pharma over a cure for cancer is complete myth. Even more preposterous is the idea that this "competition" could be the reason for CDs death. The truth is that the Hutch works in close collaboration with many biopharmaceutical companies to develop cutting edge treatments for cancer patients. That is how it works. If you don't believe me see the links below or just google Fred Hutch clinical trials and you find that most of their trials involve treating patients with drugs developed by big Pharma.

I work for an "evil" for-profit biotechnology company located just down the street from the Hutch. The founder of our company is also a Hutch employed scientist. There is no conspiracy here on the part of big Pharma to intimidate the "competition" by killing one of its mid-level employees.

QUOTE=kammiemc;12370023]I think that is always possible, but I doubt it. Fred Hutch is an amazing not-for-profit organization that is responsible for breakthroughs that have saved lives all over the globe. Even if big pharma got up in arms over a breakthrough that would render their expensive treatment moot, I doubt they would hire a hit on a systems analyst. I doubt she personally would hold info that no one else could access and in the hierarchy of scientists and decision makers there, I doubt she held significant influence. She is not the one who is meeting with politicians, etc. That's more the President. Fred Hutch is one my company's clients. Can't say enough good stuff about that place.

I think she was targeted, but why? I can't wrap my head around random or suicide. (Robbers do not commit homicide as a rule.). LE hasn't revealed the COD nor anything else of substance, for that matter, making this death even more peculiar.

Regarding the blood in the car: when I read about the blood, I immediately connected that information with the fact that, soon after the car was found, the family was too distraught to speak publicly while "grieving".

If the blood on the passenger seat and inside passenger door is little more than a speck or two of blood that may be years old, it cannot be connected with "grieving", as the blood would either be a familiar sight, or not really visible. For some reason, perhaps because of the bigger picture, I think that the blood on the passenger seat and inside passenger door is most likely related to Cheryl's murder.

I think she was targeted as well. I'm having a hard time coming up with motives unless someone was having an affair or something to do with a large amount of money. I don't have ideas for what that would be, but money is often a motive. I also don't really have an idea of who would be involved in the latter.

Robbers don't kill people and leave the car behind. People don't commit suicide by crawling into a drainage pipe. This strikes me as a crime of opportunity where Cheryl was distracted while texting her carpool friends, she was attacked, and her body was hidden in, or near, the drainage pipe.
