The only problem with muddy clothes...........they can be washed in any washing machine.

Oops ! There goes the evidence.

I would imagine they also have plenty of footprints, handprints, and impressions found in the mud that they can compare things to later.
imhoo they were asking for anyone who saw a person on those days that was mud covered or had mud on their footwear. (so they could then investigate that person) :twocents:

O/T ..Has anyone else lost their 'Thanks' button after post # 446? No #447 post, jumps to #448. w/no thanks button after that. What's going on? TIA. nancy.

Refresh your screen. That will bring the buttons back

I've noticed that sometimes (active times, perhaps?) that the "thanks" button takes awhile to catch up with the posts. You should see it re-appear for those post. Just my experience- I have no tech knowledge.

Hopefully the ME will be able to closely pin down the time of death. That will go a long way in corroborating witness statements.

I wonder if the MHP has an onsite laundry mat?

What I think. They have a lot of evidence from crime scene. Like someone said....hair, odor, DNA, foot prints. They just took bloodhound around to each home. Fingers crossed.

I agree. I think whoever put her there was assuming she would not be found there. It seems like they really went out of their way to hide her. I am praying they got really really good evidence.

But they cannot wash their dna away. If someones reports their neighbor for being covered in mud on that sunday morning and the LE asks for a dna sample, that's good enough.
I'm discouraged by him saying " if we get some dna evidence'' to compare to all these samples. I just assumed there was some at the crime scene . Hopeful that means possibly not a sex crime?
( mini rant and thank you Sickos of the world that we have to repeatedly say dna, sex crime and 6 yr old in teh same sentence ) :(

Have there been any other missing or murdered children in this area in the last few years?
Hmm...that's a good question. You could check the Missing and Located forums.

Tip: Search Missing by state prefix. Search Located by "Found Deceased".

I used to go to a local laundromat. I kind of got to know the people (at least by sight) who went there. I would definitely notice if someone was washing a load of extremely muddy clothes because I would make note not to use that washing machine in the future. I think a person who committed a horrific crime such as this would use a laundromat and not their personal washing machine if they had one.

If you're right about that, it also sound like that person isn't smart enough to know that dead bodies really start to smell BAD.

BBM - Don't be discouraged! They may have taken plenty of samples, but are waiting or analysis to determine if they are usable. Hopefully!

I bet the mud comment will peak someone's interest/jog their memory.

I think so too. Unless, it was a minor..
In that case, it could be consider normal or a parent may try to protect them.

I hope people elsewhere are also paying attention. Perhaps someone picked up a muddy hitchhiker?

Was anything asked/said about the bloodhounds at the press conference? I had to turn it off because live feeds make my computer over heat and shut down.

Even though he couldn't comment when asked about how long her body had been there, it sounds like they are assuming it has been there since Saturday or Sunday if they are asking about people who were muddy over the weekend. So it doesn't sound like they think she was held alive somewhere for any length of time after she disappeared, if I am reading between the lines correctly?

Law enforcement is asking the perpetrator of this crime to simply walk up to the nearest F.B.I. agent they can find,
and simply say, "Yeah, I did it, you got a problem with that ? "

Authorities believe this would give the investigation a big boost.

I think there's a very good chance the evidence will produce DNA. From the little we've learned so far, I don't get the feeling that this perp took a lot of pains to cover his/her tracks. JMO

If you had a vehicle to get there. But, if you had a vehicle to get there, you'd probably have had a vehicle to dispose of a body further away.
