Most of us know there is a huge off-road vehicle race track located within a couple miles from McCleary. Many of the events last all weekend, some only a day. During a lot of events, you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers all over the grounds. Being a huge drag race fan (quarter mile stuff, not mud) I know how a lot of racers come from miles away, many from several states away. So, a lot of them drive motorhomes or RV's or pull a camper trailer, etc. I 've seen them with a camper on a pickup, pulling a race car on a trailer.

Okay, here is the point I'm getting to...

I did some checking and found out there WAS a race there on Saturday, June 27th of 2009 (the day after Lindsey vanished). So, what I keep thinking is this: Maybe an out-of-towner got to the track early on Friday to claim a good parking spot for a trailer or something, or for whatever reason. Then, with nothing going on that night at the track and it got a little boring, maybe a person decided to go find something to do or a place to eat, or maybe they needed cigarettes or wanted to grab some beer or something. A GPS or maybe even a person who knew the area told this person that McCleary was the nearest town with a store or restaurant or gas station. So, they decide to run to McCleary. Maybe the person visiting the track for the race the next day was a perverted creep or even a registered/convicted sex offender. Maybe he likes young girls. Maybe a lot of things were going through his mind. But let's just say he went to get gas or cigs at Shell and saw Lindsey there. His wild fantasies start flowing. Then maybe he asked someone where a grocery store or eatery was. So after he sees Lindsey, he runs over to the store, grabs some milk or whatever, then decided to drive up a side street. Maybe he saw Lindsey at the video store.

Okay, you get my point. I keep wondering if this creep who snatched Lindsey out of thin air was an out-of-towner who maybe had never even been to McCleary in his life. Or maybe he was a regular ORV Park attendee and went to town every time he was there for a race.

This is about the only idea that pretty much shoots down my theory of it being someone Lindsey knew. If the perp was someone from the track who was there on Friday night, he/she would have had to have a camper, trailer, or RV of some sort.

Just some wild idea I keep thinking about. Anyone else share this theory?

yes :)

"Everyone who cares about this missing child is heavy with disappointment because the searches, the analysis, the tips, the horoscopes (many) have yielded nothing tangible.

There is a lunation coming on the Part of Death for the disappearance. This New Moon occurs on 16 December. The speculation becomes more astute then and something may be uncovered. "

You made a nerve twitch inside me on that one...
<respectfully snipped -- I'm so sorry you had to go through that.>

When I was Lindsey's age, if a pretty female approached me and said something like "Hello, young man. Boy, aren't you just a cutie! I always wished I had a son like you. You look sad. Can I buy you a hamburger or something. Do you like kittens? I have several at home and you can take your pick and have your own kitty... (and so on and so on)", I would have most likely jumped right into her car and drove away with her!

Okay, sorry about all my whining about my past. I just had a point here and hope someone figured out what I'm trying to say.
:waitasec:

I can so totally see Lindsey doing that. Somebody who saw her quarrel with her brother and offered sympathy -- "My big brother used to treat me like that." Somebody who offered to buy her a soda because she wasn't supposed to go in the store. Somebody who had a dog just like hers, maybe. Somebody who treated her like a grownup.

The 1st link routes to an April 2009 article regarding an individual wanted for a shooting incident, the 2nd to 'the sketch'. The individual has been on the run and / or in hiding since the incident and certainly that might 'age' an individual beyond their physical age.

I'm thinking there might be a bone-structure resemblance, but there is an age disparity and no ear gear.

I'm not claiming 1 is 2, but I think it's good to compare various images to help with extracting similarities and differences ... honing the skill, as it were....

For those interested in workers that might have been in the area, this article (from 06/26/2009) details rumble strip installation that would begin 6/29/2009. One might assume workers would had to have staked out the area previous to the installation days, i.e.: to determine traffic flow, local areas to buy lunch, etc.:

Whoa. Wait a minute. I need to rewind here to the beginning on this case when I found the record of a sex offender who had moved to the Shelton area. When I checked into it further, authorities had released a very detailed and long account of his juvenile record of sex offenses against children.

Then the whole conversation about him was dropped for some reason.

Here it is, with the background:

Dear friends: I did a search for sex offenders in Shelton, WA, which is a neighboring city to McCleary, WA. On one site there were details of the offenses and I can't find it now, but on the below listed offender there were literally 100's of offenses against multiple children, both female and male. This man is now listed as: homeless.

The conversation several of us had about him is in the thread: Registered Sex Offenders In And Around McCleary, WA (HaddieMcFaddie'sMom helped us relocate the info. later)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do any of you think he looks like the guy in the sketch?

Apparently Pacific County is the place to live if you don't like Level 3 Sex Offenders! As hard as it is to believe, there are only 7 in the entire county (at least the registered ones). 2 in Naselle, and 5 in Raymond/South Bend. I find this just amazing. I've never heard of this few RSO's in ANY County. Now I'm curious as to why. But hey, children must be safer there, and that's a good thing.

Pacific County, here I come.
7 in their county, 1057 in mine.

Sorry, digging through old info has my brain fried. Does anyone know if any of the media articles from the alleged sighting of Lindsey on the ATV with the man are still linked? I am having trouble finding them, they've gotten old and gone to archive.

Hi, concentric,

--------------------------
!!!!:woohoo: !!!!
--------------------------

If that isn't him I'll eat my computer!

That is THE closest match I've seen to date and believe me, many perp pics I've reviewed come rather close.

There it is: the write-up on that perp describes an extreme desire or uncontrollable hunger, exactly what I feel applies to the 'trespass suspect'. The 'trespass suspect's bold (in broad daylight) and seemingly desperate actions support such a profile. I also posted previously I thought the sketch displayed someone older than 20-25, I thought closer to 30-35. Your perp will be 36 come Feb.

Excellent! :thumb:

IIRC, a while back one of our posters found what appeared to be his m-space account, which mentions being in "construction management". Aaack, that would fit with a perp pretending to be a "building inspector" too.

tip: On the website, search his last name then narrow the search to the city. Then try a couple of relatives with same last name to link to his page that way. Right now he's not using his last name on the account.

On the Level III RSO page, the long list of victims history - just small children! - is extremely upsetting just to read about it. My prayers go out to those kids, because it's takes a lot to cope with such devastating traumas. I hope each child has plenty of caring people in their lives to help them along the way throughout their lifetime. Because it can take a whole lifetime to heal from something like that.

huge sigh

Oh. My. God. Had NOT read that. I wrote this yesterday, when I was starting to try to put my thoughts in order. I was going to post it under the "theories" thread:

"I think Lindsey had a crush on an older boy -- possibly the older brother of a friend, possibly somebody she knew from school or saw around town. He might have defended her from her brother at one point, so she thinks of him as a rescuer or defender.

"This guy might not have anything directly to do with her disappearance and he might or might not be a boyfriend.

"Something happened at the water tower a few days before she disappeared that made her start to think her home situation is hopeless. It doesn't matter whether that was true, but she thought it was. And the events Friday confirmed it -- in trouble at the store, in trouble with her mom, friction with family, disappointments with friends. So after the sleepover falls through, she heads home slowly, knowing she's probably going to be in trouble for the fight with her brother, just because she always gets blamed. (Again, doesn't matter whether it's true, only that she feels that way.)

"The older guys are still hanging out downtown. It's only 9, late but at this time of year it's still daylight. She heads that way hoping to see the guy she has a crush on. Maybe she left the bike behind the Shell station on purpose, so she'd have a chance to be where she was likely to see him. I get the feeling this guy is more connected to the 76 station and the video store, but maybe he's on his way home, too -- maybe he lives or works in the same area.

"I don't think he's a lot older than her. He doesn't drive but he has a motorbike or ATV or maybe "borrows" somebody else's dirtbike or ATV for her so they can ride around together. People probably think he's older than he is. I'm kind of picturing one of the motocross/ATV racers, who look so grown up on the track and then turn out to be like 15 when they take their helmets off. He could be somebody she has met before because he comes to town regularly to race at the ORV park.

"Anyway, they go out joy riding. I don't think they go by road -- for one thing, that's not where you take a vehicle like that, and for another, they probably don't want to be seen. If the area kids are into dirt bikes and ATVs, there are trails. I suspect they go to that old mill with the trailer, where nobody has lived for 2-3 years, where some of the kids who are in town with the race are having a party.

"I'm not quite sure how she gets separated from him. Maybe he did something she didn't like and she ran, got a ride home with somebody she thought was safe (since she was 2 miles or more out of town with dark coming on). Maybe the boy's dad came to pick them up, dropped son and ATV off at the camp, gave her a ride home. Possibly the boy took her over to see his dad's big truck (I think it was a stomper event that weekend) and somebody else snagged her over there, maybe when she had to use the restroom. For some reason I suspect this kid's dad.

"I think at some point she runs. It might be while he's trying to force her into the car or it might be later. I kind of have a feeling it's later, when he has car trouble or stops for gas or something. She hides. She's hurt. He might have shot her to keep her from escaping, but it might be a twisted ankle, or an injury the guy inflicted on her.

"I don't think the guy intended to kill her, "only" rape her, relying on his authority and her shame to keep her quiet. If she died it was by accident, more or less, where "accident" includes anything unplanned, like her escape.

"I think it's possible that somebody at the ORV park (or elsewhere) snagged her and is keeping her captive in an isolated building somewhere. There are literally dozens of unoccupied houses, farms, logging operations, shake mills, etc. within a few miles of McCleary. "

I kinda don't think that's the same guy. Not positive, but he just doesn't look the same to me.
