Hi, everyone. Next week Oprah will have a program about McNeil Island, in WA state, the place J. Duncan was released from.

In response to ChuckMaureen's questioning why there might be so many sex offenders in WA state.

I am also (fairly) well-versed on the details of this case. I remember reading about him having been released a long time ago from a sexual offender treatment center on McNeil Island, WA:

Thanks kageykaren, I did watch the Oprah show today. The full program, plus an extra hour of filming of today's show is on the website, for anyone who wants to view it who didn't get a chance.

I thought she said the McNeil Island program will be on next week. Did I get that right, or did she say next time? Trying to find out.
 
I'm 35 min. into it. Survivors of sexually abuse can move forward with their healing but it still remains a hurt. "I murdered what she could have become" words comming from this molester kind of says it all. How can you not think about Lindsey and her frightening last walk home.

I'm following a thread in the "Crimes in the News" forum, about a man who brutally murdered a pastor who had gone to his home to counsel him, and then killed himself. Because the perp took the easy way out, and because there is no question who murdered Pastor Karen Lee Johnson, more experienced posters seem to think that we won't be hearing much more about this crime. However, this was a very disturbed individual, and there is some concern that he may have committed other crimes.

The murderer left a prolific and graphic accounting of his life and his struggles with gender issues behind on the internet, mostly on LiveJournal. Police are aware of this evidence, and have referred to it in the press.

The author of some twenty-two books, the murderer apparently collected press releases, other miscellaneous documents, and photographs of himself in a scrapbook/album. This and other items belonging to the murderer have been listed for sale on E-bay.

Members of the forum are concerned that there may be important evidence contained in these "memoirs", perhaps evidence of other crimes he may have committed, and they (we) would like to contact police with this information. The name of the lead detective has been published.

I know that some of you here have contacted law enforcement with regards to an ongoing investigation. Is there a procedure to follow, a "best practice" you would recommend? We don't want to interrupt important work, or otherwise muck up something we have no business interfering in, but we are concerned and anxious that police learn about this E-Bay item.

Should one of us just call the detective?
Please advise.

Thank you for your thoughtful post, and the links to this story.

There have been times in the past where I have struggled with my conscience for two or three days before finally deciding to call or email LE with a tip on a case. Once I made the call, my conscience was relieved, and to this day I have no regrets.

The best way to think of it, is that you are simply providing INFO. It's up to LE what they do with it. It then becomes their decision, and rightfully so.

Don't expect any feedback or a thank you note, they usually don't. So far, I've not had any LE person be rude to me when providing a tip. Just keep it simple and try not to take up too much of their time.

(I would definitely report those Ebay items)

p.s. Tricia has a note in Announcements (can't find it at the moment) reminding folks that once you provide a tip, your name, email, address or ph# could become public knowledge. Especially in Florida with Sunshine Laws, but also in other states once the case goes to trial.

If you do not want to take that risk, you can give the tip to the Crimestoppers office (in that jurisdiction) and simply request ANONYMITY

I wanted to add to my post (#388 above) to give credit where credit is due

...and say a special THANK YOU to a few friends & fellow researchers who were willing to take a look at information I'd found before I turned in a tip to LE. Your honest appraisals and encouragement helped me make a good decision.

Do we have a thread somewhere here at WS dedicated to the topic of turning in tips based on our research? If not, and someone wants to start one, it would be a great way to share experiences or lend encouragement.

When researching any type of criminal case, you have to be mindful of your own personal safety at all times. That includes the websites you visit, because it doesn't take a rocket-scientist to trace an IP address.

If I read doc reports correctly her brother broke probation causing his offense to be reinstated which would make his court date around May also. I guess it might be good to hear when Lindsey's brother first met WW and under what circumstances was their meeting? Knowing what WW's court doc is about could show what state of mind he may have been in from Jan.09 to May 09 to June 09. Also just when did WW meet the mother of Lindsey & JB to afford an outing with her son? I remember someone saying WW said he didn't know the mother and seemed to not acknowledge their knowing each other at the first prayer vigil. So many unanswered questions from people who should have the answers that you can't take your focus off an already SO.
I probably shouldn't post this as I can't link to it to show the relationship between a possible POI & the person who stated this on a social site. The person joined the group, ""Ever looked at your ex now and thought WTF was I thinking"? Could these doc's be about a marriage disolution?

Perhaps JB was not the only other person there fishing with WW. Is there information indicating otherwise?

I expect WW must have been one of the peeps that was interviewed at least once.

One wonders if any of the locals have uneasy feelings towards WW, for whatever reason?

Regarding a 'JB' court record .. we can not post it obviously and perhaps might not be allowed to discuss it here, and who's to say to which JB we might be referring? Jason Bickelmeisterpicklefleister? Wasn't there mention of a threat of arson or possible actions that might lead one to believe arson was an intent? It was something about matches...

Anyways ...

If LB was abducted by a local, one might expect the local would not chance causing a situation for their self in / under their house where dogs trained for locating a specific type of scent (the type we do not want to be relevant to this case, or any similar case for that matter) might come across a scene.

Is there a general consensus that LB is no longer in / within 3 miles of McCleary proper?

Is the current FBI squad aware of the then on-going construction at LB's school (previous year)?

Were video store receipts searched for *patterns* of dates of purchase as opposed to simply names (SOs and such)? How often did person X rent videos when the group of kids were in / hanging around the store?

Did LB attend any specifc court hearings, along with MB? Was everyone connected to JB interviewed by non-local LE? Lawyers? Court admins?

Which peeps were aware of LB's schedules?

Who visited the B household almost quite regularly during the 6 months previous to the incident?

Clothing store employees interviewed? Are there dressing rooms? No hidden cameras?

Fast food and eateries bathrooms checked? No hidden cameras?

Did LB alone frequent any particular establishment(s)? Were surrounding stores and houses searched?

Were underneath the bottom of the dresser drawers in LB's room checked? In the shell areas around the drawers?

Were all pockets in LB's clothes searched? Purses? Carry bags? School bags? Inside shoes? Christmas stockings?

Under LB's mattress? Pillowcases? Inside toys, stuffed animals? Behind photos in-frame? Pix in her cellphone? Under table lamps?

Well, some obvious, some not so obvious?
 
I was looking up information to find out about the upcoming Oprah show about: McNeil Island Sexual Offender Treatment Program, WA state. I believe it will be on next Monday, February 15. At the end of yesterday's program, she previewed the one for next Monday. Lisa Ling is one of the interviewers. As some of you may know, Lisa Ling did a special program on child sexual slavery.

I believe someone close to LB had planned for and may have come close to abducting LB during the May/2009 time frame. Someone/thing caused the individual to not perform at that time. Or perhaps there simply was no opportunity?

If it was an opportunity issue ...

... how did the 06/26/2009 opportunity present itself to the perp?

Was he watching or was he 'informed' he could proceed?

Good catch, concentric. They are indeed the FBI agents who appeared in the recent LB-related press conference.

One wonders ... was the *advertiser censored* in question 'locally' produced? Who does it involve?

Do you think the FBI has searched vacation/recreation property of persons we have been discussing? Someone who likes to fish, for instance?

Looks like it to me. Trying to CYA over how this stuff continues to happen. Sorry- JMO.
 
Sorry should have clarified- nothing against FBI agents. Peace to my Fed friends! But so often they have to stand there and say basically nothing to the public because when there are violations of that sort under jurisdiction....grrrr.

When voting on the poll I think it is a good idea to remember the stats that were quoted "Yet once again" on Oprah. Ninety percent of molesters/abusers are known to the child and can be family most often! If this was your family member would one vote in a different manner? I bring this up as most of us want to think it must be a big, bad, monster who commit these crimes but most often it is someone known to the parents if not the parents themselves. My vote would be to stick them all on Alcatraz!!! Family or not!!!

Considering blog commentary from McCleary locals, how could anyone suspect this family or their the closest friend(s)?

But when you also consider relevant statistics we're left with an alternative that perhaps might be worse than if it was a family member or close friend.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if LB appears one day walking on 3rd, passes the Shell, struts up Mommsen and ... simply opens her front door and walks in? "Hi, Mom!"

If only...
