Clearly CPS ignored it. There ought to be at least 5 years prison terms for anyone who failed these children. Up to and including the judge who signed their warrants. MOO
Amen to that! Nothing will change though. The State will probably be facing another lawsuit and it will just continue as usual.

Search for Oakley Carlson continues in Grays Harbor County | king5.com

"Investigators have not found any evidence that Oakley was seen alive since Jan. 27, 2021, according to the sheriff's office. The parents claim the last time they saw Oakley alive was Nov. 30. Detectives believe Oakley's disappearance is "criminal in nature."

Law enforcement was first alerted to Oakley's disappearance after the principal of Oakville Elementary School, Jessica Swift, called the Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Office. Swift told officers she was concerned for the girl's safety after having a sibling of Oakley's over for a sleepover and a playdate, according to court documents.

Swift asked Oakley's sibling about the girl, who then became very upset, telling her "Oakley is no more," according to court documents."

OMG I'm so so disgusted!!!! You took her away from loving foster parents to torture her?

Police spoke to Oakley's sibling who said their parents told them not to talk about Oakley with anyone, according to court documents. Another one of Oakley's siblings told officers their parents would put Oakley in the closet or under the stairwell, and they had witnessed Bowers beat Oakley with a belt, according to documents.

The sibling also told officers they were worried about Oakley starving. The sibling told officers everyone got out of the fire at their home but Oakley, court documents said.

Officers conducted a forensic interview with one of Oakley's siblings, who said they had not seen Oakley in a long time. They said Bowers told them Oakley had gone out into the woods and was eaten by wolves, court documents said.

During a search of the family's home, toys and clothing were located for all of the children except Oakley, according to court documents. Blood was found on the blinds and on the front door, as well as a handprint on the wall in the downstairs hallway, according to court documents.

Does anyone know often it really happens that the caregivers sell a child? I see it suggested a lot in threads. But I'm not sure I'm aware of many cases where it was verified the child was actually sold.

bbm
Same here. I guess there are ways that a child can be sold, but how do the parents (or whoever has the child) get in touch with someone wanting to buy a child? I guess I am just naive about this terrible-sounding situation. How do sellers and buyers hook up?

Where did they ever get even one car seat??

Yeah, blame little Oakley for setting that fire.
Couldn't find their phones? Meth might have something to do with that...

I bet the parental units will pin blame on one of the sibs. MOO

Obviously whatever they heard was enough of a concern that they contacted DCYF. And obviously DCYF did nothing. Shame on them!! They need to be held accountable for these things. Children are returned home all the time only to be abused further and end up back in the system. This is not an uncommon thing. The laws need to change to actually protect the children. Stop being so focused on reunification no matter what. It's the children who pay!!!

Yes, and Oakley WAS already in a loving home where she had been for years, a home with a loving mommy and daddy who wanted her, adored her, cared for her. She was literally taken from that to a place where no one (bio parents own words) knows where or what happened to her. Sickening.

I would encourage everyone to listen in on some court hearings for children in foster care. Many are on Zoom now and are open to the public. You would need to follow a case from beginning to end to really understand. People need to know what is going on. And the push for reunification just got even bigger (at least here in WA state).
Not just in WA state - nation wide IMO.

"An Update this evening in the disappearance and child welfare case involving a 5-year-old Oakville girl Oakley Carlson says that the parents Andrew Carlson and Jordan Bowers are currently being held on 150,000 bail for a case against them involving one of their other children a 6-year-old Sibling to Oakley.

Undersheriff Johansson says that detectives investigating the disappearance of Oakley Carlson discovered information that the parents Andrew Carlson and Jordan Bowers have not been providing medication prescribed to their six-year-old daughter as required by her doctor for approximately 15 months. The medication is necessary for her physical wellbeing and puts her at risk for physical impairment and could eventually result in death. "

It also states that the parents are now saying they saw Oakley last on Nov 30.

"The parents claim the last time they saw Oakley alive was November 30th. The parents have given no indication that Oakley is in the care of an adult and cannot account for her whereabouts or condition."

Seriously, ten days ago! Where did a five year old go ten days ago? *mutters obscenities*

It certainly helps buy more time to search for Oakley too. Thankfully the other 3 children are safe. I'm so heartbroken over Oakley and I think we all know this isn't going to end well.

Safe is a relative term after spending at least fifteen months not having basic needs met, provided their health hasn't been permanently damaged they are still looking at years of therapy.

Tweakers are the worst they destroy everything, especially the children.

I'm afraid to ask what kind of shape the surviving kids are in if Oakley was treated so horribly. Did I see that there is a two year old as well? WTF is going on with WA CPS that they missed ALL of this over at least a fifteen month period?!?

Hopefully the full truth comes out and if the alleged crimes are true, they never get out of prison.

It sounds like all of the children suffered greatly.

If one of the children said Oakley didn't make it out of the fire, I believe that.

We all know they could have reported the fire by running to a neighbor and they would have reported it if accidentally set by a child.
