My understanding is the opposite, that the defense is required to prove self defense as they've already admitted JA killed TA. I thought that's why JA had to testify.

You are right, and in addition, the law would have allowed her to use only as much force as necessary to defend herself, which the dozen or so slashes and stabs TO THE BACK clearly show was excessive. Arizona authorizes self-defense but not overkill.

Keep in mind that the use of force must be reasonable, and the belief that the other person will strike you also must be reasonable. So you can't simply strike a person if you weren't really being threatened or in a dangerous situation in the first place.

The amount of force used in self-defense must generally be commensurate to the force being threatened. So you typically can't shoot someone for shoving you in the chest. And you certainly can't kill someone who shoves you.

If you can believe anything she says, I'd agree. Not only was he entitled to say he'd do it (if he even could after being shot in the frontal lobe), but he would have been justified in killing HER in self defense at that point if he could.

According to Jodi, it's when she realized she had blood on her hands while driving off in the sunset in the desert. (oops, although there was no blood on any door knobs leaving TA's house). I am also curious about this. Are there any independent sources, like roommates or friends of TA, who confirm JA stayed for four more days? Do you know when JA first stated this? To me it sounds like she wanted people to think TA wanted her around longer. She was packed and ready to leave and stayed, not just overnight (maybe), but four days. This seems highly unlikely to me. TIA if anyone up late knows.

I'm sure the jury has figured out what the defence is trying to sell just doesn't make sense. They probably feel like they are in a fog from so many long winded recrosses from the defence. Wilmott spends days trying to reprogram the jurors mind to her way of events.

I think it only upsets them more because, what she says doesn't make sense and there is nothing to substantiate the domestic violence , self defence and pedophilia claims. Just ............................

When at Ryan Burns they took 2 cars to drive a mile away from his house IIRC. That tells me she didn't want to leave her car behind to be found and she didn't want Ryan in her car either.
People did know she was headed to Utah.
She had no idea it would take so long for someone to find him...
IMO she removed the car plates more than once... in case there was a
BOLO on her car. She may have even stolen a plate for all we know!

Sounds like she did have the right one on the car when she was pulled over.

I'm not sure when her make-believe fog lifted. Didn't she say she was still in her fog when she called to invite him to see Othello, a Shakespearean tragedy about murder? :facepalm: The sociopath has no limits, and that's why she needs to go away for good. She is a danger to society. Anyway, she didn't sound like she was in a "fog" to me. Chirpy, like you said is more like it. Trying to sound perfectly normal in an attempt to cover her butt.

I'm quite sure there was. They lived there so I'm sure they knew she was there. I'm sure travis told one of his friends if not a roommate, that she FINALY left! Relief. I'm sure the uhaul with his BMW attached to it was parked in the vicinity.

That is probably why she wanted her mom to leave, she wanted to find a way to insert herself into his life a little longer. I know he felt she was very intrusive and clingy in a not so healthy way.

Yeah, others have questioned it because Travis was cleaning floors and his roommates hadn't remembered anything about him having company around 11am. Your theory makes sense.

I think she was calling Travis along her trip. The last call was for a couple minutes right before she gassed up at 8:40 something before leaving Pasadena.She called Ryan to let him know she'd be there by 10am.

I just don't understand why she'd tell Ryan she was on the way, but then she headed to Mesa. Maybe she thought she'd shoot Travis in bed in his sleep and get back on the road and be only a couple hours off? But then his roommate was home, so she figured she couldn't do it without being heard and she was forced to wait.

That is what I think happened. I think she was going to sneak in and kill him in his sleep. But the roommate being home forced her to wait. And then I think she lost some of her nerve, being in his home and thinking about him etc.

I think she might have reconsidered, and even wondered if they might get back together, since they 'reconnected.'

But I think that he got impatient for her to hit the road, and may have said something like ' that was just for old times' sake, but we are done.over and out...You gots to go now'

And the roommate was gone so the coast was clear and BAM...
