I have yet to find the part of the tape where the Judge tells ALV she doesn't want to hear about her personal problems (scheduling)...

Watch at about 16:07

lol, they just played that last "defective" exchange on HLN, how happy was Juan at getting to send her on her way?

Did you notice that Juan said her evaluation or conclusion was defective, and she responded with "I would disagree totally with your conclusion that I'm defective." She personalizes it as him saying she is defective, instead of her work product is defective. Stunning, from a professional psychologist.

I started out dressing up... Trial lasted a little over a month. All but one juror started wearing jeans and comfy clothes after the first week.

Im jumping in with the comments about how the jurors are dressed....
I was a juror once....looooooong time ago and we were specifically told to dress COMFORTABLE. I don't remember anyone dressing up.

Would be so cool if a few jurors would join Websleuths at the conclusion of the trial!

Does anyone know where I can see the clip of JW getting flustered today and asking for a break?

I don't know if this has been answered already, but go to about 53:30 on this tape. It wasn't her best moment in court.

Somebody else may have already done this, but I wanted to have all of today's juror questions. So here they are. I guess I'll post them on that juror question thread as well.

Day Two (Friday, April 12)

Q: Please explain why you feel Jodi is not manipulative either before or after the killing based on the review of statements and interviews?

Q: On the one side we have demeaning slurs, a slap, a shove, a chokehold, and a lunge perpetrated on Jodi. On the other, we have a gunshot to the head, a 4 inch deep throat slit and close to 30 stab wounds delivered by Jodi to Travis. Is not the perpetrator of the greatest domestic violence Jodi?

Q: In the hypothetical given by Mr. Martinez about it being possible Travis was the one who told Jodi he wanted her to leave, if that is true, then isn’t it likely that Travis never hit her that day?

Q: When Jodi went to confront Bianca about being with Matt McCartney, can’t that be seen as she did it because she was jealous?

Q: Jodi went through Travis’ emails, text messages and the inbox of his My Space page. Did you take any of that into consideration when making your assessment?

Q: You bought Ms. Arias books, apologized upon meeting her, and ordered her a magazine subscription. Did you do anything else to establish a relationship with Jodi? Have you given her anything else?

Q: Have you ever had any physical contact with her: hugs, friendly touching, etc.?

Q: How do you know Jodi received Spiderman underwear from Travis on Valentine’s Day? Did you see them, pictures or anything else?

Q: How many men have you testified for in criminal court?

Q: If you had been given access to everything except interviews with Jodi, how would your opinion have varied, if at all?

Q: Would you have adjusted your belief in the level of abuse, if you had been given access to everything except interviews with Jodi?

Q: Other than what Jodi has told you, in what other sources did you see evidence of physical violence by Travis?

Q: Would your analysis of this relationship change if, hypothetically speaking, you found out that the stories about physical violence and Travis masturbating to pictures of children were made up?

Q: Regarding non-verbal conversation, do you think that you can read through a string of emails, text messages, instant messages between two people and know exactly what the non-verbal communication is?

Q: How do you know tone, meaning, inside jokes and/or the meaning if you cannot get both sides of the story?

Q: When interviewing Jodi, you claim you did not ask leading questions. If someone asks a specific question that elicits a yes or no response, would you consider that a leading question?

Q: You say Travis gives no indication of being stalked, displays no fearful behavior and continues contact with Jodi on his own accord. How do you reconcile Jodi's claim of domestic violence if she continues her contact with Travis of her own accord? Where was her fearful behavior?

Q: Do you consider someone who says “no jury will convict me” to be a person with low self-esteem?

Q: How can you say that Jodi and Travis’ relationship was domestic abuse when there’s no proof other than name-calling on paper and Jodi’s word?

Q: Do you handle cases where the female is the abuser?

Q: Did Travis discuss abuse of Jodi or any other women in his journals?

Q: In all the evidence you reviewed, was there any indication anywhere of Travis claiming stalking by anyone else other than Jodi?

Q: Of the times you have testified in other cases, how many of these were in defense of men?

Q: What is the manifesto you referred to during your testimony?

Q: Is there a type of stalking or what could be considered stalking that a person is comfortable around someone in person or when they are speaking with them but are afraid of what they will do or are capable of when they are not around?

Q: Would speaking of blackmail and being threatened, are you aware that Jodi threatened Travis by saying that she would let out that he was a pedophile? Does that mean anything to you?

Q: You stated that it would be beneficial for Jodi to write things she was lying about in her journal to buck up her story. How would she write about these things in her journal if her story didn’t change until well after the killing, hypothetically speaking?

Q: Regarding the text message from Travis to Jodi where he was upset about her BS story from Michelle K or Elena, what exactly was the BS story that Jodi told Travis? Where did you get this information?

Q: You stated that Travis was the one lying in this message. How do you know this for sure?

Q: How can you know that Jodi’s BS story was not a lie, not the subject but the actual story that was told?

Q: You seem to believe that when arguments began between Jodi and Travis prior to the Havasupai trip, when he followed her upstairs, that he wanted to pursue the argument. How do you know he did not want to get the issue resolved and calm her and maybe was embarrassed at her behavior in front of the Freemans?

Q: Can you explain how Ms. Arias can remember physical abuse incidents so vividly but doesn’t write anything, not even a reference to her feelings, in her journal?

Q: You testified writing could have supported her statement, however, is it possible the incidents of abuse reported by Jodi were reported after the fact as a secondary gain to benefit her?

Q: Do you have any evidence other than Jodi’s word that Travis made her tear out pages and write only positive thoughts?

Q: Who from Jodi’s past did you interview that you were able to rule out Jodi’s manipulative behavior being a pattern?

Q: You told us at the beginning of your testimony that you liked to meet with each individual before analyzing their relationship. We have heard Jodi’s side of the story. Can you tell us Travis’ side of the story?

Q: You mentioned that stalking could fall under the abuse and battering columns of your continuum. If that’s true, why is stalking excluded from those columns?

Q: If your continuum is incomplete, why not list all the appropriate bullet points for the appropriate column?

Q: You stated that you have chosen not to take cases in the past because you did not believe an individual. Did you take this case in part because you believed Jodi? If you did not believe her, would you have chosen to turn it down?

Q: If you started out believing in an individual, doesn’t that by default set up prejudices toward their partner?

Q: You stated that regarding anger, it is more common for someone to have a burst of anger then calm down. Is it possible that Travis’ rant seemed longer because they are being viewed in text form?

Q: Can you explain what you mean by a burst of anger? Could a 10 or 20 minute rant be described as a burst?

Q: If a couple has an argument that takes all day to end, can they still be in a healthy relationship? Would that type of argument indicate abuse?

Q: Is it possible for two people to be abusive to each other?

Q: Don’t you believe that Travis making comments about a 12-year-old girl while having a phone sex conversation with Jodi is different than Travis allegedly masturbating to photos of young boys?

Q: Would you characterize your knowledge of June 4, 2008, as light or incomplete?

Q: Are you confused on any of the details of that afternoon?

Q: Do you think it is deceptive for someone to not share the most private and intimate details of their lives like their sexual activity with their friends and family, or would you consider it normal to keep those things private?

Q: If normal, why do you think Travis’ attempt to keep things private is deceptive?

Q: Did you ever see evidence that Jodi was openly sharing all of her most private sexual details with her friends and family? Would you consider that deceptive?

Q: You state Jodi’s lies started after she killed Travis. How could you possibly know this?

Q: Do you believe that Jodi was subjected to sexual degradation at the hands of Travis?

Q: You stated that you saw no sign of Travis feeling or experiencing sexual degradation at the hands of Jodi, noting his desire to see Jodi in California, his actions on the sex calls and his comments in texts, IM’s, etc. Couldn’t that same argument be made about Jodi’s alleged sexual degradation given her desire to see Travis, her actions on the sex call, her comments on texts, IM’s, etc.?

Q: If you were to only consider the written conversations and journals, excluding your interviews with Jodi, did you see abuse? Please explain.

Q: What level or degree would you place that abuse?

Q: Considering only the written conversations and journals, can you say you saw it escalate?

Q: You mentioned Travis was in a 7 year relationship with Deanna. Are you aware of anyone interviewing her to determine if she was a victim or survivor? Did you interview her?

(Additional jury questions)

Q: You keep saying that Jodi doesn’t match you definition of manipulative. Is it possible that your definition of manipulative differs from others? Is it possible that your definition is wrong?

Q: Yesterday, you were asked about Jodi being an abuser toward her mother and you stated it was normal teen-age behavior. Do you honestly believe that hitting and kicking your parents are normal behaviors at any age?

ETA: Looks like somebody else has them on the other thread, so I'll just leave these here. We've got a cottage industry in transcribing going!

ETA2: Added a missing question. Thank you, Fifteen89!

How about her many misunderstands and misspoken moments whenever she is confronted by a JA lie, I mean inconsistency, like when she first said JA told her the images Travis was masturbating to were on the computer, opps I misspoke, I meant paper images and when she told her the shooting was in the closet, opps I misspoke, it was in the bathroom?

OOPS or the really nice one - Jodi said the knife was on the nightstand, which means she admits to her she went into the bathroom with it, prepared to use it.

Did you notice that Juan said her evaluation or conclusion was defective, and she responded with "I would disagree totally with your conclusion that I'm defective." I picked that up right away too

I've been going through the juror questions from this morning (wanted to get them all down to look at as a whole), and there's one that really leaped out at me -- not the question, exactly, but the answer.

The question is: Regarding the text message from Travis to Jodi where he was upset about her BS story from Michelle K or Elena, what exactly was the BS story that Jodi told Travis?

ALV says the story is that someone came up to Jodi where she was waitressing and told her that Travis was seeing Lisa Andrews. Why does ALV believe this story? Because Travis WAS seeing Lisa Andrews at that time.

So, if I understand this correctly, if Jodi had said President Obama called her at home and said the FBI had seen Travis with Lisa at the local Olive Garden, ALV would have believed it because Travis WAS at the Olive Garden with Lisa.

WTF?

ALV just didn't seem to understand that Travis was not upset about JA finding out he was dating Lisa. I don't think Travis really cared whether or not JA knew about him dating Lisa. He was upset because she lied about how she found out. He knew she found out by stalking him, not because some mystery person came into her work and told her.

A very good juror question on this point:

You said that Jodi isn't manipulative. Is it possible that others could have a different definition of manipulative than you do?

Follow Up: Is it possible that yours is wrong?

Yes, as an expert it would be normal and appropriate for her to read and rely on another expert's report.

I think what must have happened is that the reports kind of went sailing off Alyces desk in the chaotic way other experts reports sometimes fall, and they fell at her feet, and she saw a big picture of a closet, which corroborated what she thought she had heard Jodi say, and she had no other evidence to say it wasn't a closet, and then...she mispoke. ;)

I agree completely. My heartbreaks for his family and I want to see Jodi convicted as much as anyone, but, if I'm being honest, I have to admit that there are aspects of following this trial more closely resemble a hobby than a commitment to justice.
Similarly, I wonder if, at some point, spewing venom at Jodi/ALV is more about sharing a social experience than justice.
None of this is to say I'm against spewing venom on Jodi/ALV, just that it is good to keep our feelings in perspective.

I'm projecting myself, I know it. A woman I knew years ago (she was my intern at one of my first jobs out of college) went to England on an exchange. I had plans to go to England in the fall. Before she left, she said, "Let's meet up when you come to the UK and hang out."

I said, "Yes, let's e-mail and keep in touch."

She was one of those ultra happy people always looking for the silver lining. I asked her one morning if she drank! :floorlaugh: Seriously, she was that chirpy.

She was super friendly but I never really thought she really wanted to meet up. We all say these things to each other when we part ways after college, from one job to another, from one gym to another. We exchanged a few e-mails over that summer and that was it. I wasn't surprised or disappointed because I thought we were exchanging social niceties.

In early October (my trip was mid October), she sent an e-mail asking where I'd be staying. A few days later, she e-mailed train schedules and maps from my hotel . She was in York and I was in London so it was quite the train trip. Beautiful though.

When the train pulled into the station, I didn't recognize her. She'd had a hair cut and was wearing a stylish scarf around her hair and she was just glowing. We talked about her boyfriend back home and a new guy she'd met in York. She was fascinated with him and conflicted by her feelings for her bf back home. She said she'd date this new guy and see how she felt over the winter break when she returned home.

We didn't keep in touch for a while after I left York but she'd sent me away with recommended books and asked me to pass them on after I read them. She sent a couple of letters and one of the letters was how she was engaged. When she got back to Holy Cross, she could not stop thinking about him.

Mutual friends said that she moved to England and shortly afterwards, she and her husband and new baby moved back here.

I never saw her again. Her husband shot her in the head and their daughter Lilian whilst they slept. And during the trial he claimed she was depressed and that she killed herself and the baby. Was he out of his MF mind? OMG.

He was found guilty and rots in prison. You've probably heard about the case. My friend was Rachel Souza. I refuse to ever refer to her by her married name, which was Entwhistle.

I know I'm too caught up in this case but there is just something obscene and truly pornographic to take someone's life and decide to take the only thing the dead have: their dignity and honor.

So I'm ambivalent about the DP but I know I want her to be convicted. I want her to know we all judge her and find her wanting. I want her in a little cell with no one to admire her and take photos and film her every move and report on her every blink.

She already thinks she's won because she took what no other woman will ever have. But she's still a flaming narcissist who needs constant validation and I want her in a plain little cell with only herself for company for ever and ever and ever.

I want her in a panic now that the sand is running out of the hourglass and I want her to sweat. And I want the Alexander family to make their impact statements and then I want the jury to verbally body slam her with their sentence, whatever that may be.

So, I'll keep posting smarty arse comments about the trial but I'm never forgetting what it's about. And it isn't a spectator sport for me. I'm a heat seeking missile where this chick is concerned and I have no shame about it. :)

OMG, another late night vent. I swear I don't drink or drug. lol

Does anyone know if the gun/bullets that JA possibly stole from her grandparents the same size/type that was used to shoot TA? thanks ia

Yep! I think it was pretty personal between both of them. No love lost there.

I grabbed this screen shot during JM's cross this morning. The defendant doesn't look good. Does anyone else think she realizes the truth of her situation when Juan's doing the questioning? I think her DT have been minimizing how badly this is going for her, and she sees that glimmer of hope when JW is up there running the show. But when Juan gets up she sees the truth of her situation. He pretty well crucified her star witness today, and I think she knows it. JW also looked really agitated to me today, like she also realizes that Juan can cut through the BS.

The juror questions must have been upsetting to the DT. It gave a really good indication of how the jurors are viewing their case, and it ain't pretty.

View attachment 31992

I think she has been snubbed by her BFF today. The little flirtations that have been going on between her and JW were non-existent today. Even yesterday during questioning, her and JW were inappropriate with each other (IMO). Today, not so.

Im sure that is part of her pouting. And who knows what is going on back at the jail.....she is a troublemaker and im sure they are not making life cushy for her right now.

Who thinks ALV will ever reflect on this and think she made a mistake?
Or sees that maybe she was biased?
