It's a whiteboard (to the right of the exhibit). I can't make out the writing, myself.
If they were there first thing in the morning, it stands to reason the board would still have "yesterday's" date, because class had not yet started, and the teacher had not yet changed the date.
Now, if it said "June 2nd", I would be suspicious. Lots of classes do a little welcome time together first thing in the morning where they discuss the date, weather, etc. I would think that is the time the teacher changes the date on the board. Not the day before.
