I learned that if I went into graphic design and poster board manufacturing, I could make a pretty good living just on Baez's closings alone.

Oh Steely...I had a great new learning for today that I posted somewhere in the trial thread for you...I can't remember what I said or where I posted it...hold on, let me go find it...

Found it - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - 2011.07.03 TRIAL Day Thirty-four - DEFENSE (JB) CLOSING ARGUMENTS

"drowning is not sexy"

 Sorry, I missed that. You should have PM'd me. Those threads are impossible to keep up with.

1. That with 1374 people active on the board I was able to get right on. Amazing!

2. That Jose and Cheney's filibustering did not help them. The judge saw right through it.
Drats...foiled again, guys! (Linda Kenney-Baden - one of my faaaavorite people - had
already "stepped in it" on national TV by almost literally gloating about how difficult it was
going to be for poor Ms. Drane-Burke to present her rebuttal to such a tired-out jury.)

BBM

Bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow morning the jury will listen to the gorgeous LDB give her rebuttal.

What did we learn today? Not enough.

I had so hoped that this trial would finally explain who, what, when, where, why and how. But I still don't feel I know the truth. I know something is wrong with Kronk and the two PIs looking in the woods for Caylee's remains. Something stinks with those scenarios. They had information from someone; it could not have been a psychic and chance.

I am now resigned to the fact that I will never know the truth.

BBM

Before you read this you need to know this is just an off the wall theory of mine.

Is it possible that JB found out about RK's calls and sent DC to the area RK had talked to the cops about and then got angry when RK found it but at a slightly different location?

Didn't they? I thought they were blaming Caylee for drowning herself...:waitasec:

:goodpost:

I learned that there is no line Jose Baez will not cross. I learned Jose's obsession with Dr. vass and chemist in general is reaching stalker levels. I learned Casey is pretty much fake cried out. I do expect we will see the real thing when the verdict is read. I learned George is finally showing some back bone by making sure Cindy didn't lie about the date. I learned fart jokes do not get laughs in a murder trial(who woulda thunk :-p)It was a very educational day.

BBM

:silly:

It's funny cuz it's true. :laughcry:

I learned it was the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, me, you and your brother too.

After years of thinking Caylee was the victim I learned today it is actually Casey.

I learned that I am going to miss these 'what I learned today' threads very much when this trial is over. :( They were a bright spot in my day.

Steely Dan, perhaps you could continue them in the 'jury room' after trial....a real life 'what I learned today' thread.

Today I learned...that the lovely LDB will be doing the closing arguments tomorrow morning while I'm at work!

Hopefully, it will be a slow day, and I can secretly watch the trial on my iPhone.

I learned that if I went into graphic design and poster board manufacturing, I could make a pretty good living just on Baez's closings alone.

I don't even think that Baez could make a pretty good living on his closings. :floorlaugh:

I've thought of that but I would make it a general "What did we learn today" thread and just update the date everyday in thread itself. I probably will. The "Random Thoughts" thread can be used that way too.

I respectfully disagree, when he's giving his closings make it free to get in but $1,000 to get out. JMO

I learned that somehow KC should get a pass because she threw her baby in a swamp full of garbage until she was completely decomposed & told no one where she was EVER!
I learned that because KC acted like a tramp we are all very bad people cause we thought she was.
I learned that George is quite the man. I don't know how he could keep a straght face with all those bullets flying at him.

Thank you kindly! I am looking forward to it.

I learned that they should have let Lisabeth take this from the start. She's the only one of them with a lick of sense.

I know Boodles, but none of us will ever know the truth. are Caylee and Casey. The only ones who know what happened If Casey 'confessed' right now, I still don't think we would get any closer to the truth. I believe that, like every instance of violence against children, we will never understand the 'why.' :(

Yes, my 12 year old said that today "(the only one's who know are Casey and Caylee. ) She has only seen snippets of things about this case, and already has it figured out. Kids these days....

Something huge conected with me today during Jeff's closing. He said that on the 16th Casey told her dad her & Caylee would be spending the night at Zanny's.
She knew she was going to be with Tony that night without Caylee. Sounds like premeditation to me.
Another thing that hit me was when they put that Casey's imaginary friends board up.
Her first imaginary friend was Zanny when Caylee was around 6 months. The others were added up until she was caught. Could she have been planning this since Caylee was 6 months old? Makes me wonder...

Wow, I learned so much today...

In a serious note, I had not put together the part about Ricardo says bring the baby to sleepovers and Tony said, um, no babies at sleepovers. I personally had found Ricardo's willingness to let Caylee sleep in the bed with them kinda creepy, but hearing that it spelled out that way was very interesting. Especially considering that her first sleepover with Ricardo was just a couple of weeks before the chloroform searches.

On a less serious note, I learned that CM has some old shoes and fancies himself as Atticus Finch, and talked a lot about lighting candles. I also learned that the state had the huge burden, and that the DT has had no burden at all. In fact the DT had to call all those FBI guys and get all those people to come give us the full story, and they shouldn't have had to because they didn't have to prove anything. Oh, and while the jury is deliberating, if the world was to end, they should keep deliberating because they took an oath. And light a candle.

I learned that JB cannot subtract 7 from 22, or 10 from 25. In fact, he said he has no idea what it equals. Someone should buy him a calculator. And for that matter, would someone please tell CM how many exhibits there are in evidence? He has given several different numbers. Or maybe he should just say there are "a lot" of exhibits and move on.

I learned that JB was not surprised that CA lied... which was interesting because we know (although the jury doesn't) that JB was aware of what she was going to say before she testified. So, he knew she was going to lie, and he let her. Nice.

I learned that somehow if you live in a home with duct tape and that duct tape is used in conjunction with a crime, and for six months you are unaware of the criminal importance of the duct tape, you can be implicated in anything done in the history of that duct tape. Even if the duct tape redeems itself by helping hold up missing persons posters.

I learned that RK and DC might have been in cahoots, or not, or the A's knew where the body was, or didn't. I learned that although RK testified that he might have said he won the lottery or might have said he should play the lottery, that JB was allowed to abbreviate that to him saying he won the lottery. :wait a sec: I also learned that even though River Cruz said she was with George from some point during the search through the time of the memorial service (February 10 2009) until Caylee's 4th birthday (August 2009), JB adjusted her testimony to fit the facts and said she and GA had already broken up by the time of GA's suicide attempt (January 23, 2009).

I learned that JA should not have been laughing and JB can't even calmly make an objection. And apparently CM could not object either. I assume that was when he was praying JB was wrapping it up.

I learned that the car might or might not have been used to transport Caylee, which I already knew, but it was nice to hear JB say it. By the way, every car in the world might or might not have been used to transport Caylee, but only one has a hair with a death band in it and still smells like a dead body years later.

I learned that those big bad detectives forced ICA to say all those lies by yelling at her. Except, of course, that she started lying way before they started yelling. In fact they were checking out one of her lies at the time of the yelling. After they had already visited Sawgrass, the nursing home, and found out that she and her imaginary friends did not work at Universal. Two different detectives had taken her aside, one even her taking her down the street to ask her privately if there was a domestic issue. They thought there was missing baby whose life was at stake, but apparently JB thinks they should have realized that ICA was troubled and not yelled at her. Instead, they should have instinctively gone after GA. Wow, wouldn't that have been a "drama-rama" as JVM would say.

So, yeah, I guess I learned a lot. :D Glad I didn't waste a.whole.day. like I thought I had.

(Respectfully snipped.)

That might not sit too well with the bar. JMO

I was upset to learn I will be sitting in front of my TV yet another day.

I might have learned other things to but I really exhausted from court hours and working and keeping my kids halfway fed, mostly clean and kinda bored.

I learned that somehow KC should get a pass because she threw her baby in a swamp full of garbage until she was completely decomposed & told no one where she was EVER!

Thank you for pointing out that ICA would never have told anyone where Caylee was. It drives me mad when I hear the talking heads say, "She waited 31 days to report her daughter missing." No, no, no she didn't! She NEVER reported her daughter missing! CA reported Caylee missing in spite of ICA pleading with her mother for...one more day!

I guess I learned that people are easily swayed by a flim flam man who spouts fallacious arguments that people give credence to, in spite of good solid evidence to the contrary. I learned that the defense can lie with impunity while the true nature of a story will be hidden from a jury, that the defense can wheedle, insinuate and bluster for hours in the hope that something will stick someway or anyway. I learned that justice is only for the defendant and not for the victim and I think this trial opened our eyes to the medias manipulation with money and ratings.

I will never watch another trial after this I am done, I have never been so disgusted with the so called justice system in this country, if this is the best in the world I hate to think what the rest have to put up with.

Why are people saying that Baez mistakenly said the body was in the trunk. Does anyone understand why because I don't remember that.
