I'm not sure if you were responding to me but I thought you might be since my post was right before yours.

I was not shifting the blame off one parent and on to the other. From my perspective neither of them are to blame for Haleigh's disappearance. There is no blame to shift.

I try to post the facts and base my opinions on the facts. You might see it as trying to defend one parent against the other but my only goal is to try and present them as equals.

Elle, from your words in bold, would you care to share the "facts" that you have to support your opinion that neither parent is to blame?

I hope to be able to do this for you very soon, I am working on a list of facts so that I can open a "fact thread". There was a "Just the Facts" thread awhile ago but I can't seem to find where it has gotten to.

Perhaps we can all add what we consider to be the important facts and also include a link? ; )

Oh, I do remember those threads up in the stickies. A couple of weeks...gosh could even be a month or so ago now, but anyway, I had thought there might be enough interest in going back and organizing the events by day and asked permission to start some threads for that. Obviously I was the only one interested and the idea fizzled out. I already have all the information organized in notebooks on my desk so I didn't see any reason to put the rest of my notes up in the stickies if others weren't interested in doing the same.

Since switching to the new format here in Haleigh's forum, the threads up in the stickies make much less sense and perhaps Kimster would be so kind as to delete them and free up the space. : ) The fact thread I had in mind might be more suited down here so that people could add what they consider facts with their links. Just an idea, things seem to be pretty clear and organized in here now, and I am very grateful for that!

I'm plenty interested in doing that [and in Kimster's thread re: What Has Changed], but facts are so hard to pin down. So much of what I think I know or thought I knew was read on here or at the hairless guy's site.

Believe it or not, over the course of the last 3 days I have been cross checking many of AH's early article's and they can be linked back to a credible news source. Sometimes word for word. Not saying that makes them anymore true, just saying that early on he seemed to get his information the same way everyone else did. It was only after a certain point in the coverage of the investigation when he started to quote "his sources", or use the term "sources say" .

And where has he been lately anyway? Perhaps his sources aren't talking anymore?

What scares Ron the most is LE finding out the truth about his involvement in Haleigh's disappearance. I still stand by my earlier post...... Haleigh disappeared because of drugs and money. No stranger danger here. Just Ron and Misty covering their a$$e$. My :twocents:

This claim screamed for recognition-- I must say, that even credible news sources can be lied to-- garbage in, garbage out. imo

Back OT: I think Ron is afraid of his future, or rather, his lack of one. :behindbar

I never thought and still do not think that Ron Cummings had anything directly to do with the disappearance of his daughter. Misty is another story. I don't think Ron is hiding anything he thinks is significant that he feels would lead to the whereabouts of his child and I think her disappearance is the thing that scares him most.
But, the fact of the matter is, if you lie down with dogs you get fleas. Ron and Misty and company, IMO are low class people who are involved in drugs, no education, no basic understanding of parenting skills, life skills, etc. I don't think that makes Ron an evil person and I feel very sorry for his loss, I just think it makes Haleigh and her brother very unlucky children. (Their mother seems to be of the same ilk).
I think Ron deeply loves his kids but has no clue what it means to live a straight life designed to protect his children. (This is why I think basic education, parenting classes and serious drug and alcohol abuse, child abuse and domestic violence awareness courses should be mandatory for high school students).
His choices likely led to the disappearance of his child. He has not learned from his mistakes and is still associated with a teenager who at the very least, neglected his children. The fact that he chose to date a teen and then make her the mother of his two kids is another huge sign that the decision making ability is lacking when it comes to Ron and that the climate of dysfunction surrounding him is high.
Ron's reactions in the 911 call were real to me and showed a parent seriously shocked and freaking out about the disappearance of his child. Unfortunately, his lifestyle was a recipe for disaster for Haleigh. The children of irresponsible, drug abusing parents are at extreme risk of all sorts of harm including abuse of various kinds, abduction by people they know and people they don't and homicide by family or others. Haleigh did not stand a chance, IMO.

I'm hoping this isn't old perspective. If so, just ignore or delete.

But here's my take:

Ron is no "love of my life" kind of guy. If you remember the 911 call, he had no trouble calling M a B*tch in no uncertain terms. He's had both drugs and violence in his past. Both are limited in education and values.

(IMO!) I'm thinking he was into some folks for either drug money earned, unpassed; or owed, unpaid -- and the minions came calling while he was away and M was there. In the heat of the moment and not fully realizing the consequences, he calls 911. Soon after, he may not have known exactly who, but he knew why.

If Misty gives it up, he goes away for a long, long time. His Mom would probably never forgive him (far more important than Misty's love and affection.)

Once it seemed likely that Haleigh was not coming home, the charade began in earnest. I shield you. You shield me. If we give the upper echelon up, she will never come home; if we give them up, we're also as good as dead ourselves.

Thelmadawg, I think you and I have always been on the same page concerning the drug/money motive. And the recent arrests on drug-trafficking just confirmed that theory for me. So I guess one of Ron's biggest fears came true.....he is in jail for drugs and sooner or later one of the "Satsuma Gang that couldn't think straight" is gonna spill the beans to get a deal. All I can say is it's about time.

I feel Ron is an inocent victim that got taken advantage of.. What happened to hailey was accident and Ron didn't know but later on down the road he wants to belive what he knows what happened but cant bring himself to it.. he's trying to but it's hard when you honestly think about it the person that you have laid down in bed with and spent alot of time with could be guilty how would you feel??? Yes we all know Ron possibly did drugs before hand but he had his kids.. he hooked up with the wrong girl.. i feel ron is the type of guy that does not want to be alone.. what other man do you know that would lie, plead, marry, and etc when your daughter is missing...he's a man that has a self esteem of the sh#t my dog lays in the yard.. he honestly to me as of growing up at that age.... No one you want to associate with.. do i think he did it hell no.. do i think that he's keeping his enimies closer. yes.. but why??not for the hailey.. it's for himself.. it's the self esteem... i mean my god he married her.. ok tell me what happened to my daughter and then i'll marry you.. it isn't marry me and then tell...
