Where is George?

ITA! So many of my friends are people I met when my kids were little - their kids would be the same age and we adults become friends because we did so many things together with the kids. The friendships continued as the kids grew up even if the kids did not play or hang out together. People also make friends at work, at church/temple or in the neighborhood.
I, too. wonder - where is everyone? And where is family - we did not see family coming to stay with them when Caylee was reported missing - wouldn't that be the normal thing to do???? It is sad that they were so isolated.

I have a vague memory of Cindy saying (maybe in her State depo) that somebody (can't remember who) from George's family showed up shortly after Caylee was reported missing.... and Cindy didn't appreciate them coming without calling or being invited.

Does anyone else remember this or did I dream it?

If it's true, that kinda gives you a good idea of why they have no family/friend supporters (other than Cindy's new bestie from church).

I remember that, too, Snaz. So you didn't dream it, lol.

I believe George was deeply hurt by Casey's claim of "maybe vaguely recalling" abuse by him. After the WHY? letter to her, he hasn't been in court except for when he had to testify and at one other recent hearing. I've thought since hearing about the meeting he had with Mason & Baez that they were the ones that cooked up this whole abuse thing. IIRC, the meeting was after the 48 Hours show where both he & Cindy said they'd do "whatever it took" to get Casey off. He may be so depressed over Caylee's death that he figures any happiness in his life is over anyway. I don't think his suicide attempt was real or he would have actually done it - there were drugs in the home that he could have taken (pain killers)...but taking the blame could be another form of suicide, IMO. However, I don't think when it comes down to it that he'll follow through & besides, there's just too much evidence that Casey was the only one involved.

JMHO...

Georges sister came as soon as the news was reported that Caylee was missing. In one interview at the beginning of this case Cindy was asked how they learned Casey had been arrested. Cindy said they had the television on and were waiting to hear an Amber Alert on Caylee. She said it was George, her sister-in-law, and herself. Someone called and told them to turn the channel to another station where it was being reported that Casey had been arrested.

A few days later George and a woman identified as his sister, were pictured with a card table set up in a parking lot handing out fliers.

That was all during the first week after July 15, 2008. The sister disappeared after that.

So. GA is staying clear of the hearings. If he knows something we don't and is aware he's being thrown under the bus, I'm surprised the defense hasn't added people in GA's past to bolster that defense (if it even is part of the defense.) There's the alleged plate glass window incident at his father's car dealership (if even true), as well as an ex-wife who could testify to his temper. Why wouldn't they be called if that was the gameplan?

Sorry if it has been brought up already, but George said on the stand that he would do anything for ICA, even if it meant not coming to court. IMO.

Bolded and sniped

Anyone think that that particular line of questioning was meant to 'explain' his absence from court hearings? Could George have lost THAT much self control that he can't behave himself even to show support for his daughter? Anger is one thing, but sometimes you have to set aside your own feelings for a greater good. I'm surprised he's not able to do that.

Why should George show support for ICA? He knows she murdered his granddaughter AND she accused him of molesting her!! If he isn't showing up because he is no longer willing to be a patsy in this debacle I say; "Good for him!" It's about time he reclaimed his man parts and refused to let the DT make a circus out of the death of Caylee Marie. If he's doing this for self preservation, I believe he may have finally started to regain some self control.

I'm not supporting George - I believe his actions have been intentionally detrimental to the State and as former LE he knows better! Maybe he's finally realized he can't do it anymore, IDK. He said during some of the interviews, he still hears Caylee calling him JoJo - well if he could hear her today she'd be saying "Why JoJo, why?"

He is weak LCoast.

I don't think it was a serious attempt on his life as he never did take any meds did he? Just called, in distress, and sorta said Goodbye to people. IMO he was pulled in two directions so much that he was about ready to spontaneously combust, and the trip to Daytona resulted.
When ICA was out on bond he went on a rant at the house telling his friend he'd had all he could take, living a lie, and he couldn't tolerate it any more. The friend knew what he meant, and commented - "the only person who knows what happened to Caylee is in that room (ICA) but the bi*** won't talk".
Those excited utterances will keep coming back to haunt this family.

They already have. He is a wreck and looked horrible at the hearings and at one point he was mumbling to himself in the audience and looked deranged.

They are truly suffering these people and it is going to get worse when the prosecution PROVES it to them.

Yes Solace I agree - I'm sure his life was Hell long before Caylee went "missing" - I have heard him talk about loving his family many times but have never heard CA repeat anything close to the same.

If he could finally stand up for what he knows is right he may finally be able to live with himself.

They are suffering but they have brought this on themselves. I can't feel badly for them any longer. If they truly believe she is innocent (rather than just saving face) they are deranged!

I'm not giving George any credit here. The last time he was present at the hearing, he appeared beside himself shaking his head and mumbling to himself all directed toward the prosecution.
Remember how he spoke of other guys not being worthy of his daughter as
Though she deserved a decent guy.

Caught between a rock and a hard place. That is exactly what GA is dealing with. He knows he needs to tell the truth but CA will not let him. He's torn between doing what is right for Caylee and doing the bidding of CA so that he does not upset her. I think GA feels CA will never be able to handle the truth so he tries to keep her happy by stating whatever she wants him to say. This is why they can't get their stories straight. Just too stressful for him to retain it all, imo.

I think he feels his daughter is very sick and needs professional help and should not be sitting in jail. This may be how he deals with it because we now can see it in CA. The two women are very much alike in that CA also believes her own lies.

What does GA have to live for? He has a son who will marry soon. They, in all probability, will have children one day. And that is the reason he should be thinking of right now to get past this period. Lee has gone on with his life. Good for him.

One has to wonder why GA goes through so many jobs?

"Now, my, my daughter lives on the edge. You know that from all the, the lie, the lies. All the contradictions. And like my daughter takes things as far as she can take them. and then she piles on some other stuff. "- George Anthony

Maybe he's finally listening to himself- for now anyway- we'll see what happens when trial time comes.

Didn't he also order a pizza and have a six pack of beer? I would think one depressed enough to be seriously considering suicide would not have much of an appetite. I was also suspicious of Cindy and Brad sending out an SOS and the public drama that ensued. JMO.

ETA: IIRC he also had his BP meds with him in the hotel room. If one was seriously thinking of ending it all, would they have the foresight to bring life-extending meds to a hotel room?

George is busy being interviewed for InSession and 48Hours - sitting right beside CA's side and broadcasting the misinformation along with the Defense attorneys and Defense Experts, and "former" Defense team members. He may not sit in the Hearings, but he is there when it's time to get media face time and possible financial reward for his appearance.

He is not sitting beside his own attorney when the attorney half heartedly makes a press release about GA not being involved in Caylee's death/murder. IMO it would have been more relevant and important to see his face THEN, rather than on other TV shows where he is helping support his daughter.

LOVE your RB avatar!

The Defense has George's sister and her husband on their Witness List and has Cindy's brother, Rick, (who emailed Cindy about the shoving through glass incident) on their Witness List.
The State has Cindy's mother and brother on their Witness List and the Defense will be able to cross examine them if they testify in the State's case.

I've always felt a great sympathy toward GA. I only met him once, on the day I searched with TEQ, but he had such kind, sad eyes. It felt like his soul was exposed. I'll always remember that meeting. He seemed desperate for us to take flyers back to Tampa. Gave us stacks in English, Spanish, and seemed almost in tears. CA was pleasant, but distant. She almost distractedly pulled sandspurs off the sleeves of my jacket and seemed focused on D'Nozzio (sp?) who had just arrived.

I sometimes wonder if GA is actually less supportive of KC, and more angry at the prosection for making him realize how heinous this whole thing was. I think he wants to live in a state of denial, and the state of Florida just won't let him. His body language and snark at the State seems more like a "LALALALALALALALA!" thing to me. If he stops being angry at them, he has to start directing his anger at KC toward KC. Something CA and his bubble won't let him do. His home life probably sucks in a way most of us can't fathom. If he loses CA, as difficult as she is, then what does he have? Maybe that's behind his newfound drive to find a good job. Maybe he wants to move north and become a Yooper or something.

I don't know; I just found his testimony at the hearing a bit of a change from the past. I got the vibe that KC is no longer his primary focus. Maybe he's starting to realize that Caylee was the best thing that happened in his life and it's time he starts serving her interests. I think the longer KC stays in jail, the more he realizes he can live without her.

SNIPPED

I hope GA is beginning to realize that what he does now will probably affect his and Lee's relationship. As stated, Lee has moved on with his life and will probably marry and have children. In Lee's position, I would have a very hard time trusting my parents with my child. I hope GA salvages what he has left to look forward to and stops looking back. I don't see CA ever doing that.

And here we keep hoping and giving him the benefit of the doubt. I still think his life sucks and he knows what he should be doing for Caylee - but he just won't stand up to CA or maybe he just can't admit it's as bad as the state is saying...

I think he is in deep trouble physically and emotionally.
