Haven't read entire thread - has this been posted as a speculation yet?

Via a Florida friend: It is reported Jose had another court case scheduled in Orlando that he couldn't/didn't reschedule and had to go tend to that this afternoon. She nor I know if this is what happened or not. Makes about as much sense as anything else I can come up with. MOO

O.M.G. This better not be what happened. Do lawyers usually schedule other things during a high profile death penalty case?? That makes no sense.

I just posted this in the sidebar thread. Seems JB's private matter had nothing to do with Orange county. He never left Pinellas.

So, it certainly wasn't that he was sick or that any of his family needed him. He stayed in Pinellas and HHJP went home.

It was a private matter that he really didn't need to leave Pinellas county for. Wasn't anything pressing in Orange county. So, couldn't be filing any motions.

That leaves us with: plea deal or he's been fired.

I really think he got the boot.

Orlando Sentinel reports Baez was seen smiling with other DT AFTER he sent the text to the media.

Why would Judge Perry ask Mason in "open court" if he had an opportunity to discuss the "matter" with ICA ? and NOT state in "open court" what the "matter" is ?

If it is a "private matter" ... why didn't Judge Perry just do a "side bar" or call the DT to the bench for an answer ?

Maybe I am reading too much into this ... but it is just not making sense. I guess I just don't like "cliff hangers" ...

I doubt its that JB had another case in court. I am sure he has cleared his calendar for this case and if there was another I am sure he has other lawyers in his office to handle an appearance. I don't believe he has any other cases during this case tho.

I think they may be working on a plea deal. Hopefully LWOP but maybe JB asking for lesser. If it is a plea deal I hope the prosecution doesn't accept less than LWOP. Someone on N. Grace speculated JB went to the Anthony's to tell them the news. But why wouldn't he just call?? I can't wait til tomorrow morning to see if we learn anything!

I was reading Richard Hornsby's blog and he wrote this: "I do know that Mr. Baez’s wife was pregnant and given the abrupt way he left and the nature of his email, I would not be surprised if it involved her."

That would explain Baez smiling in his car and Casey crying (because I think she has romantic feelings for Baez).

I thought maybe her grandfather had passed, but they'd save that bit of information I would think to not take away from the proceedings.
Maybe ICA said she would cop to a plea but only after she tells the absolute truth and there is truthful information ie confession from another who may have been involved? Maybe hearing all these PJ say they felt she was guilty got to somebody real bad and it is time for confession. Sure would be a mind twist if we saw somebody else charged with all of this! My mind still goes back to the A's. Running scared in real time.

I haven't had time to read all 22 pages of this thread yet. I was surprised to see court end early today. (I was watching the livestreaming of it earlier in the day.) I will take Baez at his word that court ended due to a personal matter. I have no idea what that would be and I don't particularly care either.

I did hear Beth Karas do a phone in to HLN earlier today after court ended (she talked to HLN anchor Mike Galanos - (she apparently had technical problems phoning in) and after the 3rd try to phone in she and Mike Galanos were talking. She is the one speculating that court ended early due to a plea agreement in the works. No wonder Jose Baez texted Beth Karas to tell her to stop speculating about the reason that court ended early.

I do not see Casey making a plea agreement at this late date. I think she wants her day in court.

He is on the docket in Orlando tomorrow for a misdemeanor (stealing utilities from memory but you can check the website).
JP said early on in the peace that dockets would be cleared for those involved (given the importance of this case).
The case tomorrow is a pre-trial hearing ... an intern could do it

yeah I don't really see why ICA would take a plea. Its not all that likely she will get the DP so why would she accept LWOP in a plea? I think she will take her chances in court. I don't know whats up with JB.

I agree noonie,Casey didn't look like she was crying.She has fluffed her eyelashes several times during past hearings. It does seem like stall tactics,it's kinda stranged that Jose asked for 15 extra minutes . I wonder if Jose just decided to call JP from his car and say I decided to take the rest of the afternoon and you can hold me on contempt. Just so he can cause an even big media circus and end up delaying the trial.. I know it sounds crazy,but who knows what thier capable of.:waitasec:

If he had to appear today to get out of something he might have on a docket for tomorrow, he would have had to go to Orlando, wouldn't he? And it sounds like he did not do that.

But I doubt it was an illness or a feigned illness, not the way the judge handled it. They could have gone on without him, with the latest program of the last 15 being questioned.

The first thing that I noticed was how she walked in slowly and was very insecure looking the way she was holding her sleeves down over her wrists and her arms were stiff. She is usually so arrogant when she walks in like she's being seated at a restaurant and waiting for her buddies to join her.

Did someone say that JB left the courthouse at the lunch recess and then wasn't there in the afternoon recess? Since the judge announced that the defendant and her council was there that would mean that JB is no longer her council. This means JB was fired, JB has quit or JB has been disbarred and can't be her council anymore.

I think those are the choices that we're left with.

It definitely is very strange.

JB never left Pinellas county. HE sent out a mass text msg - I saw Beth K read it live on TV and she said she just got it 30 seconds ago. I saw a phone on NG tonight showing the exact same text but to NG and the Orlando Sentinel is saying they got the same thing. So it was a mass text. That was right around 3:30 or so - well AFTER court was recessed (1:10)

According to the Orlando Sentinel they saw JB in the parking lot of the hotel smiling AFTER he sent that text - meaning he was there (Pinellas) at 3:30 or so.

If it was something with his wife - wouldn't he have been gone? Especially if it was baby delivery time. Evidently it was a private matter that could have been tended to in Pinellas county.
