In the prosecutor's opening statement, Assistant Waukesha County District Attorney Zach Wittchow literally set the scene of the prosecution's case, focusing on the deaths and injuries that occurred on Main Street in the late afternoon hours of Nov. 21, 2021.

He said Brooks "left that crime scene because he was fleeing from another one," angrily driving into the parade route less than a mile from the other incident at Frame Park. "He hit the gas on his red Ford Escape and used it as a battering ram over and over again, striking men, women and kids."

But why go down such a restricted route full of men, women and children? Weren't there other streets that would have been better options? It didn't help him get away.

I really wonder if these issues would be as extreme if the judge was a man. I don’t think he’d be this crazy to a man judge.

I really don’t think anything will be gained from this. He will probably not allow her to be released from her subpoena when done and be subject to recall. It’s all a control thing for him.

He learned that new phrase “door was opened” and constantly tries to use it now.

So going through the parade... it wasn't about getting away?

No. That’s not what it looks like. He has offered no defense or reasoning. He got into an argument with his girlfriend, punched/hit her in the face, and then fled the area in his suv. The area he was headed towards was a parade. Despite obstacles like barriers in the street, going the wrong way, having multiple cops bang on his suv and windows to stop, and having cops eventually fire at the suv he did not stop and purposefully drove into a parade full of innocent victims. He killed 6 people and hurts dozens.

He was not fleeing cops or anything. He had multiple roads and exits to not go through the parade. This was not about getting away from anything. He specifically drove through barriers. The roads were blocked off.

Then he ditched the suv and tried to get away from the area on foot until he banged on doors and got someone to let him use a phone. He was apprehended by cops on someone’s porch.
