Community mourns parents of missing Barron teenager as search continues
On Saturday, a light, steady rain and fog hung over the community as the visitation and funeral for James and Denise were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cameron. Denise was a member at the church, just a 15 minute drive from the family's home. A private family burial for the couple will be held at a later date.

At least two police cars were outside the church about 11 a.m.

People wrote from across the state and county on the couple's obituary to express condolences and to say they were praying for Jayme's safe return. Some of the more than 125 commenters wrote that they knew the Closses, but many others said they had never met them yet were following any updates on Jayme's whereabouts and thinking about the family.

Reward for missing 13-year-old Jayme Closs doubles amid funeral for slain parents
The reward for bringing home 13-year-old Jayme Closs, who has been missing for almost two weeks and is believed to be in danger, has doubled while a grief-stricken community says its final goodbyes to her slain parents.

"At this time, I want to thank Jennie-O and all of its employees for their cooperation during this tragic time for them with the loss of two of their employees and their willingness to help bring 13-year-old Jayme home," Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said in a statement Friday.

A joint funeral service to commemorate the couple was planned for Saturday afternoon at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cameron, Wisconsin. A private family burial will be held at a later date, according to an obituary posted by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.

"An entire state has been racked with Jayme’s disappearance, and the death of her parents," Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel said in a statement Oct. 18.

Funeral underway for parents of missing Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs
Hundreds of people poured into St. Peter’s Catholic Church for the 11 a.m. visitation and 1 p.m. funeral for James and Denise Closs, ages 56 and 46.

“James loved the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers and getting into conversations on the ‘glory days’ of his high school sports career,” it said. “Denise loved working with her flowers, feeding her birds, she loved angels and helping everyone, any way she could.”

“The family ... would like to thank law enforcement officers, the community and surrounding areas for their support, and the family and friends that have reached out in so many different ways,” the obit said.

Hundreds turn out to remember parents of missing Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs
MR of Rice Lake worked with them both at the Jennie-O turkey plant in Barron for more than 20 years. She was especially close to James Closs, whom she worked with “eight hours a day, five days a week for 15 years.”

“Jim was all about sports,” she said. “He was a big Packer fan. Just a normal guy — go to work, go home.” James Closs worked in the plant area that deboned turkeys, and he delivered meat orders that MR would weigh for shipping.

Denise Closs was very shy, MR said, but was well-liked and had a group of good friends. “She was all about Jayme,” MR said. “Everything was about Jayme. She loved that girl.”

Funeral held for James and Denise Closs in Cameron
“Jim [Closs] is the type that he is so much into the Packers that he would take off [work] if the Packers would play on Monday night,” said MR. He would take Tuesday off because he knows he would be too hungover to go to work.”

MR went on to talk about Denise Closs. “It was all about Jayme, everything,” said MR. “[Denise’s] world revolved around Jayme. When she was younger she had her in beauty pageants, ‘please vote on my daughter’s pictures’, you know, so that she wins the contest. She was all about Jayme.”

MR said she worked with James Closs for about 15 years. The funeral ended at 2 p.m. Media was not allowed inside, or on the church’s property.

Funeral held for parents of Jayme Closs
Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says he has continued to be in touch with the family members.

“I can’t imagine what the family is going through on a day like today laying two to rest, and still one out there missing and wanting to bring Jamie home,” said Fitzgerald. “I don't know what that's like; hopefully none of us ever feel that way.”

He said the family is going through a difficult time, but are still determined to find Jayme and bring her home.

One funeral attendee, MR, said she worked with James for 15 years. She called James and Denise "ordinary people" and said she is still shocked and confused at the entire situation. “They go to work and they go home,” said Ruffin. “They’re about their family, so why?”

As Search Continues in Closs Case, Parents Laid to Rest
"I just hope the family can get through today and we can bring them some good news in the coming days," said Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald.

FK lives down the street from the church. He said he worked with James and Denise at the Jennie-O Turkey plant.

"Where in the heck would she go?" he asked. "It just seems almost impossible that she'd just disappear like that, you know?"

Funeral Held For Slain Wisconsin Couple, Teen Daughter Still Missing
Church bells rang as family, friends and even strangers came to pay their respects.

“They’re normal people,” MR said. “They don’t bother nobody. They go to work, they go home — they’re about their family.”

Sheriff Fitzgerald paid his respects to the Closs family Saturday, and he also helped provide security outside St. Peter Catholic Church.

“We are active still 24/7,” Fitzgerald said. “Through the weekend, we’ll be 24/7 and we have people all over the county and all over western Wisconsin right now following up on tips.”

OCT 27, 2018 Regarding the Monte Carlo pulled from lake in Oshkosh:
Authorities were definitely aware of the car situation yesterday. Was told pretty quick though, not related to #JaymeCloss. Wrong make, model, etc. Police in Oskhosh also dismissed it when @FOX9 called. So on surface, I'd say no go. But it still seems awfully suspicious..
