The money owed was for a credit card. It was back in 2011 and it was paid. The court docs state the plaintiff didn't accept a settlement offer made by a consolidation co. There was a negotiation and and agreement that both parties agreed to and the credit was paid in full.

Was a loan needed for this large repayment?

Who calls someone a caretaker? I know the school said it, but I have only heard families use this in regard to a family member w special needs who needed to be monitored for seizure activity and problems related to Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Why not call them a caregiver? An afterschool teacher, a companion? A nanny? A family friend?
Caretaker sounds so septic, like a property manager or something.

It's just semantics at this point. I posted myself I thought we were reading too much into the term but having a few days to think makes me wonder if mom and dad had reason to have their guard up and keep careful watch.

Re: the time gap. I do think it’s accurate. I also wanted to think maybe the neighbors looked at the clock wrong or something, but I find the statements to be well intentioned and credible.

And maybe that’s why in the back of my mind I’m still thinking we’re dealing with two or more assailants. Maybe something we all don’t want to talk about was going on in that house for 25 minutes. With multiple assailants abducting Jayme could easily have been the idea of only one of them and at the end of the on-site assault.

Yes, I know they stated it was a "fourteen mile long crime scene" but did they actually end up searching all the way to Turtle Lake?

From a previous live video, I recall the Warden for the WI DNR state that they would be searching one mile west of the crime scene, to the city limits of Turtle Lake. Jmo

Here's the rough transcription which is also available in the media thread for reference:

“The search area is going to be one mile west of the scene to the city limits of Turtle Lake. We’re searching the ditch line of State Trunk Highway 8. The east and west bound ditch lines of Highway 8. We’re not doing extensive wooden searches. There’s no aerial assets involved today. It’s engaging the civilian core to help us out to search a large area, looking for any items of interest. What that may be, we don’t know until we see it.”

I know many are getting frustrated by the lack of specific details that the sheriff is not releasing at this time. My question is this - if you could know one detail of the event that which the sheriff knows the answer to what would that be? Details such as was Denise in the bathroom, whose phone made the 911 call, do you have Jayme's phone or was James in the house answering the door when he was shot or was he entering the house from the outside when he was shot. These are examples of what the sheriff would certainly know. Me - I would like to know if James was in the house answering the door or outside coming in when he was shot. Just trying to see how the more experienced sleuths think and their reasoning. Your thoughts...

I’m just saying it’s completely irrelevant to the case. I didn’t realize complaining about things like that was in any way helping the family. If anything, we should be happy when other sites use our information.
It was stated earlier. No one objects to the use of the info. Just be sure to credit the original poster or site.

honest question, no snark

Do you feel all that is warrented? Does all that seem a bit overkill (no pun intended)? Especially in a town of 800?

Genuinly curious becaus it sounds like you built a bunker preparing for war or are terrified of people in town?
I'm with you. Especially on never answering a door without a gun. I grew up in a town of 600. Never saw people packing guns. Live out in the country now and I'm quite certain most of my neighbors are not packing when they answer the door. Now if I have to go out on my property alone in the pitch-black at night, I take my dog or my gun, and sometimes both.

fwiw, my thoughts are she isn't far - in this scenario she is alive, being held in one of those many trailers to the east - this scenario has the perp taking her the 2-3 miles (even on foot via the rr tracks) . On foot, dragging an unwilling person could take about 45 minutes, tops. The reason I say this, is there could be a connection to her school location. In this scenario, it is a midpoint. Easy viewing access. That rest area, and then the trailer park to the west of it, it would be easy to hide someone in there, just sayin', jmo.

All of them are in bed, dog starts barking so Dad gets up to check it out. Shots fired, dad down. Meanwhile mom and jayme hide. Perp kicks in door. If perp was after Jayme and mom locked herself in bathroom without Jayme, they would just take jayme and leave. OR they couldn’t find Jayme or mom so they thought Jayme was with mom in locked bathroom only to find out she wasn’t. And while perp was trying to get into bathroom, jayme crawls out of her hiding place and calls 911 on mom’s phone that she found in mom’s bedroom. Then perp figures out mom is alone in bathroom, kills mom then goes to find Jayme. Finds Jayme, there is yelling and anger due to 911 call. Seems like Jayme is the target or she would have been killed too. But all of that hiding and finding and figuring out who was where could have taken some time.

Exactly this! I feel like everyone has boxed themselves into this timeline that hasn't even been verified. The neighbor seems totally unreliable.
<mod fixed broken quote>
I completely agree. We don't know if the timeline is even correct. Neighbor has contradicted herself too much. Perhaps she trying to get a grasp on her memory.

Great, this is what I looking for!

LE might have caught the vehicles of interest on cameras twice. Once before the 9-11 and once post 9-11. This would narrow their timeline and confirm or discount the neighbor (IF either vehicle was even involved). I also think it’s possible LE passed the offenders on the road while going to the 9-11 and have that footage.

For no other reason than noisy sleuther, I want to know about the vehicles and what time they were caught on film and where.

I’d ask for the full autopsy reports

This case has been so frustrating because so little info has been released. LE has been incredibly disciplined in not leaking details.

Not sure why I think this, but my gut tells me that this crime started much earlier in the evening and that other gunshots and violence occurred before the neighbors got home that night. That the two shots we know about were not the only shots.

JMO

Do we know for sure mom was shot? Could “multiple rounds spent” mean dad was shot twice? Maybe there were no other gunshots for neighbors to hear?

Edited: deleted a draft comment and quote that somehow didn’t delete when I started writing the above comment and ended up posted along with this comment. Ugh. Sorry

Unless whoever kicked the door in had been thrown out of the house (or went to their car to get their gun) and the door was locked behind them.
That's certainly possible. But if this guy was that close to this family, I think that LE would know his identity by now.

I do like that scenario though.
