Most likely because they thought the perp(s) were fleeing west and wanted any video footage. Nothing suggests Closs was a big gambler, is there?

Completely hypothetical but What if the father did stop at the casino after work? Won some money and someone followed him home? My cousin was assaulted and robbed after leaving the casino years ago...
Just a thought of course.

The morw and more I think about this? this does not sound like a “Craig Wood” (Hailey Owens for example) to me, but maybe could be someone more like Todd Koelhepp, mixed MOs which include shooting and abduction.

Wouldn't we know that by now? Somebody may have followed Closs home, but more likely it was from the turkey plant. I've thought that before.

So how many cases can be named where a pedophile killed the parents in a home invasion? It seems the list is small (that we know of or that has been mentioned so far)...Hannah Anderson, The Shorts, what other cases do we even have for a comparative analysis.

On the same same note we could ask how many random home invasions resulted wth the child/teen being kidnapped. But if even if rare, it does not mean that this couldn’t occur, moo.

Burglary (IF James’ guns were stolen), murder, hard to put rape past someone like this.

Anyone good at spreadsheets? I think it'd be interesting to see a compiled list of similar cases (as similar as we can get, given how unique this case seems to be, IMO). A list may be helpful in comparing details from other cases to see if any parallels can be drawn. Jmo

IMO LE wants this case solved BADLY. It is their job. I think that if they really had any information to release (other than the possible vehicles of interest) that could possibly be of help to this investigation they would do it.

I don’t think there is any secrecy here, yeah perhaps maybe some leads they are looking into, but nothing concrete they can really give us. I truly believe they would if they could. And I very well understand the necessity of LE keeping things close to the vest to protect the integrity of the investigation, but I just do not believe they have a lead on the suspect and are just watching him, etc, nothing like that.

I believe LE is doing their darn best but unfortunately their trail is cold and no leads are panning out, JMO.

If they had a lead on a suspect FBI/SWAT would have already stormed that place like nobody’s business. And there would be a picture of the suspect on the FBI’s Most Wanted List, moo.

Do the security cameras at the Casino have color night vision? If not, how did LE determine the color of the cars they are looking for?

it's possible to tell colors from black and white images depending on the camera and video settings certain colors are brighter than others. Several old movies and still photos have been "colorized". Its not perfect but good enough.

Great points.

I will search back through the threads to find the poster who informed us that the Casino has security cams directed towards the traffic on the highway as well.

This gave me great hope that the authorities have picked up something from those particular surveillance tapes.

If this is correct then that would explain why LE contacted the Casino - to view their cameras that pointed towards the highway. That then would presumably rule out James being followed home from the Casino if he had won some money.

Many are afraid to contact even the tipline, locally. I live 40 minutes away, and all the small towns around Barron are filled with terrified people, suddenly locking all their doors.

I live 50 minutes away and feel the same way. I've lived up here since 1976 and can't recall a crime this bad ever happening. It's gotta be solved!

I agree with what you said, but I feel LE needs to do a better job at keeping this in the public eye. It got too quiet, too quick. IMO

We don’t know what cameras might have provided images of the cars, not necessarily casino. In fact, knowing these cars were near the crime scene I doubt that determination came from a casino camera 15 miles away.

Whateverthe case, whether taken by a pedophile or a group of violent home invaders, neither outlook is good.

The best possible scenario I see at this time is a boyfriend known to her who thinks he really cares for her and who is not physically harming her. Not sure how strong of a possibility I think that is, considering he’s capable of murder and no LE has been able to track him. He would have had to really plan the grooming, stay out of sight, give her an anonymous phone, etc...unless her parents did find out about this.

99.9% certain it's your scenario about a pedophile or violent home invaders is the correct one. Jayme was taken for a reason and a purpose. Obviously we know why a pedophile would take, but please explain why "violent home invaders" took her? Please give an explanation for that?

I feel like if they wanted Jayme, there would have almost certainly been other opportunities that didn't include murdering two people in an extremely risky home invasion. Kids have pretty set schedules. But criminals make illogical, strange decisions.

It seems to me that perps using "other opportunities" to abduct their victim fit a different profile. They tend to be the perp that knows to first befriend their victim, charm them with their false persona, and then catch them off guard. Jayme's captor is extremely violent and probably not a charming bone in his body. Her captor was a brute, and I'm still fearful for Jayme. MOO

LE at least has ballistics info. it may be useless at this moment but maybe one day.... I think people need to check their firearms. someone could be missing one or more and not even know it yet. I think type and size and shell of firearm used also tell something about, at least potentially, the person that done the shooting.

Sadly, I can think of one. The "violent home invaders", on not finding anything extremely valuable, but having killed JC, look at Jayme, decide to take advantage of her. This can be true even without her being the intended target initially, especially since they are in a violent state of mind. Then when they have to flee, they know that they can't simply leave her with her parents, because of their DNA, so they take her.
