The 911 Call is Key IMHO

I think Denise made the call at the very beginning of this confrontation and this is the yelling between them and James heard by dispatch. Maybe the perp(s) kicked in the door before she even connected. The 911 call is what gives LE this locked in timeline IMO, especially now that Sheriff Fitzgerald addressed the neighbors account as unsubstantiated. Perhaps they've heard some of the "what" but not the "who" involved?

Short methodical timeline......disturbance, confrontation, killing, abduction and departure from the scene in minutes. Somebody had a serious agenda here. Revenge/rage or desire for Jayme, I'm just torn between the two. Either way poor, dear Jayme :(

Again, JMHO

I think your right... but Rhoden murders makes me pause.. a lot of similar items in crime...

Rural mostly area drug problems
Multiple deaths..with intent to kill.
Looked like executions

Dogs left unkilled.

Took them 2 yrs.. they had 5x the evidence.

We could have POI, Fitzgerald has to make stick, needs slip up, or something.

Sadly I think he needs body to tie with certainty to crime.. I’m guessing he’s playing coy in hopes of getting the girl / body ..and can then build case.

My thoughts are leaning this way as well. I also wonder whether the sheriff is implying that the neighbors heard no shots at all or if its just the time he is saying is not substantiated..... something about his word choice. I have to go back and look.

'You almost never see this': 5 questions about the Jayme Closs disappearance

Fitzgerald said the neighbors' account of gunshots is unsubstantiated, and nothing points to shots going off around that time. He's unsure why their time frame differs from investigators'.

I think because the perp murdered two people, he can never let Jayme go, assuming he has her alive. But as very few people can hide a person inside their home forever, it does not seem likely. I don‘t think he ever intended to “keep” her. Whatever his “fantasy” may have been would have turned into a jolt of reality soon afterward and he would need to be free of her. I can’t help thinking she will be found...eventually...probably within a 25 mile radius. Jmo
This surely makes sense, I just can't 'like' it though. My heart is fully invested in this one, she's just a gentle, kind, barely 13 year old child who witnessed unimaginable horror :(

'You almost never see this': 5 questions about the Jayme Closs disappearance

I am a bit confused about where the police were coming from on the night of the crimes. I have read on here that they were coming from the east and that the suspects were most likely going west towards the casino. I am trying to make a map and I am using 1420 WI 25 as the address of the sheriff. Is that the correct address?

Can anyone help me? I have a difficult time searching on WS. For instance I want to leave Jayme's thread and go to Hania's latest thread and when I put Hania in the search box, it doesn't come up with any results. Is there something I can read to help me out? Thanking in advance.

Barron County Sheriff's Department | 12/10/2018 9:49am (CST)

This case remains the #1 priority of the Sheriff's Dept and we still have the FBI and DCI on site working the case with us. There is nothing new to report but we continue to follow up on leads and we are trying to build a longer timeline of their lives through digital and social records in hopes of leading us to a clue. Keep the Hope alive and we will bring Jayme home.

Thank you all for the continued support and hope to see everyone out on Wednesday for this event.

Sheriff Fitzgerald

This sounds like such a beautiful event. I wish I could attend, but I am too far away.

I tend to make bookmarks of the sections for “Missing” and “Located” as those are the two parts of the forum I use the most...but that is just me. Then the thread nearest the top in each section for a particular person will be the most recent. I rarely venture into other sections anymore except for “Crimes in the news.”

Maybe the neighbours didn't really hear gunshots, maybe it was a car backfiring or someone doing target practice, etc. This case in a way reminds me of the McStay family murders, but with that, all four were shot and disposed of together. And the motive was nothing more than a business partnership gone sour I believe. If so, that's an unexpected motive to make note of, that caused the murderer shoot the two kids and the parents.

Were the neighbors out that night? I don't remember reading that they were. I'm also mid-fifties, hubby works so he goes to bed about 10-11 PM and back up at 4:30 AM. I typically stay up later, often until 1:00 AM or later and up about 6:30 AM. I am a night owl, even though I try to go to bed early. Still many older people like to watch the news before going to bed.

I apologize if someone else has already responded to this but yes, in one of the early interviews, she said they got home around 11:30.

Maybe the neighbors are covering something up?

I think your possible linkage makes sense-at least as much as any others. James did work in the area where product was shipped out. He probably did not regularly work on Sunday's and may have "seen" something he was not intended to see -less management and over site on Sunday's??
The killer in the Wilmar case said "it had to be done ".
Certainly good food for thought

Thanks. I am not sure whether I believe he worked Sunday or not. I, like some, think it may have been an excuse to not go to a family party. I had not heard the killer in the Wilmar case said that--that is interesting. On the other hand, as you say, Sundays would probably not have the number of employees or management around which is a very good point.

Both are plausible... as is the perp doing two practice shots in preparation for Crime.. but if shots are at kloss doorway instead of in house... they would likely hear it..

Keep in mind what they are hearing or startled by is the bullets or slugs breaking the sound barrier... mini sonic boom...

That sonic boom is much different than other sounds... stunning they would use gun that loud but if your goal is death/destruction it makes sense..

Crime scene had to be pretty bad.

Earlier post brought up Barron County underbelly problems..arrest reports in 60 mile radius are pretty stunning..would think volume of drug crimes would be for larger city...some of it you would think has to be fake... sadly... no...wouldn’t stun me if wrong house hit or payback for an arrest..like was mentioned..but if that’s case.. why take jayme..

Wisconsin woman accused of trading sex with children for drugs and cash

I had heard about this one when it happened from someone in the area. It had people up in arms and very upset, and probably still does. It is so tragic and sad, all of those years. This case has the elements of both drugs and sex offenders. I have no idea what happened to the Closses and only have my theories like anyone else, but when one considers the meth problem who even LE says is bad, it is as likely as anything and clearly meth and crime go together. I also reiterate that I am in no way saying the victims were involved in drugs, but that the perp(s) certainly could have been.

I am no gun expert. Can I ask how likely it is the murderer(s) had blood on them if victims were shot at close range (the 5 feet for instance), and how far away one would have to be to not have any? I suppose it depends on the firearm and trajectory?

I've been thinking for awhile that the perp(s) left the Closs residence headed West. Once they got to the next crossroad the vehicle went North or South. No telling what direction was taken next.

I tend to agree with this. That is all they had to do to get just about anywhere in any direction if they know their back roads particularly and if local, even more likely. All of us know our back ways (most anyhow) in the areas we live in and even those of neighboring areas. I fail to see how they could be positive no LE would be coming from the west, the wisest thing would be to take a side road. I guess it is possible an officer might be coming off a side road in response but very less likely. And Turtle Lake also has a pretty active police department for a small town, ask people from the Twin Cities who travel through there. How could the perps know they wouldn't be contacted and on the lookout in very short order? Or even called for assistance? On the other hand though, they may have just totally lucked out and headed west and tried to draw no attention to themselves as their plan (if they had one) went entirely out of control with the 911 call. This entire crime makes no sense or the lack of facts sure the heck make it seem that way. I hope LE has and knows far more than the public does. I would also add that even a perp not that familiar with the area if in a panic over a 911 response would possibly get right off of the main road as soon as they could and then figure out where to go and what to do from there.
