According to the complaint, Smith's Facebook account has postings by Smith saying she was pregnant. Inside the car, authorities found a prosthetic pregnancy belly.

I did not see that coming. So if she was planning on raising him as her own, why risk letting him die by leaving him outside a gas station?

I called that! well at least some sort of distorted ptsd which maybe it is?

Smith's cell phone contained emails sent by Smith wherein she stated she
herself gave birth on February 5,2014. Smith &d not appear pregnant, had not appeared
pregnant while in Wisconsin, and was pregnancy tested and was not pregnant. Inside
Smith's vehicle, law enforcement found a prosthetic pregnancy belly'

What an absolute loony.

The following is pure speculation, but I think it is possible KS passed the baby to someone who brought the baby back to, or the baby remained in the Beloit area the whole time I can't shake the feeling whomever had the baby overnight drove from WI back to IA to drop the baby off in the immediate area KS was arrested because they did not want to be implicated.

I think it's possible KS might be talking in order to save her behind. We'll see as more infomis released.

How could KS draw a map of exactly where the baby was found when she has been detained since early Thursday morning with no knowledge of what was transpiring in the case? It would be impossible.

KS had to act alone.

I figured she eventually caved and told LE where she put him. It's a miracle he made it in that cold weather behind the BP. I wonder if there was a heating vent or something that was maybe blowing some warm air on the tote. Geez!

The knife is kind of scary! What if mom or dad would have woke up? What was KS going to do? Ugh!

I also hope they DNA test her kids. Let's hope they all belong to the husband from some prior relationship. I worry about any she claims are hers.

I'm just in shock about the faking a pregnancy thing. How the heck was she going to stroll back to her husband and family with a baby in her arms? Was she faking it to them, too, and how? I mean, no father is going to let his loving wife go running off to have a baby without him, right?

She's an <unusual person>, for sure!

she confessed and drew a map. Are you saying she is lying NOW to cover? I thought like you did, but then read the charges and details.

No. I posted before being fully caught up with the thread. I just finished reading the pdf.

I wonder if the cold temperatures actually saved his life? In the cold the brain, heart, respiratory, and pulse would slow. He would take in less oxygen, making the airtight container less dangerous. His metabolism would slow, meaning his body would not need as much nutrition or fluids. He probably didn't cry much and expel his energy. I wonder if the sun heated the container up, rousing him enough to cry when LE heard him?

I'm shocked he was outside all that time. I thought for sure there was an accomplice, but now am convinced she acted alone.

BM certainly had an awaking from this event. I do hope she is able to find some strength from it. Kayden is a miracle baby having survived this ordeal, and he is certainly meant to be with mom and dad after the obstacles they have faced. I pray for the best for this family of 3. I think they'll find ways to make and come out stronger from it.

So glad Kayden is back eith his mommy and daddy.

Bennett said, Smith said she was pregnant and was due to give birth in February, but Smith didn’t appear big enough to be that far along in a pregnancy. Court records indicate Smith had a prosthetic pregnancy belly in her car when police searched it in Iowa, where smith was arrested.

Smith told the family that her husband had a construction company and that she could get Kayden’s father Bruce a construction job. The story later turned out to be untrue as well another Smith’s tale of being in the military.

You bring up some excellent points.

I am so thankful he made it. So many of our cases dont have good endings like this.

I wonder if her plan was to give the baby up for adoption for financial gain. Working with adoptive parents and leading them on about giving them her baby, maybe black market.
I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that she left that baby out in the cold with no food to save her own skin. And I cannot understand why LE didn't scour the entire area with a fine tooth comb. It makes sense that if she took the child and then didn't have the child when picked up that she had to put the child somewhere. Why didn't they use and abundance of caution and do a through search of the area where she was found? Thank the lord that baby is ok.

Whoa !!! It may be worth calling in that suggestion into whatever jurisdiction has her because I think a lot of people would never even think of that. She seemed like such a "pro" at this type of thing and with 4 kids, there could be a good chance of her having done this already with one of the other 4.

She probably didn't think they would arrest her. Left the baby so she could speak with LE, and then go back, get the baby, and head home. BUT, being arrested changed that.

Had a feeling that Army stuff was bogus. She claimed (last year?) that she went up two pay grades in one day. No pics of her in uniform at all, either, and she seems to love her selfie pics

I'm waiting to hear from her husband, IMO.

I think that, too, but once she was arrested she should have spilled the beans but I guess that would be a lot to ask from a baby kidnapper.
