Not far from where Kayla was dropped off is a more upscale neighborhood. A friend of mine owns a house there (though the property is not adjacent to the wooded area I question.) Anyway, my friend was told by a police officer that a homeless person had set up a squat on his property. A lean to and some cooking set up. This was in the last couple years and not necessarily related but I wonder about it because its not the typical place one would suspect a homeless person to live.

I apologize that it's been so long since I've posted on this thread. I've been attending to family stuff the last couple of months which I think should be settling down at this point. I haven't heard anything new locally, but am still keeping my ears and eyes open. Kayla and Stephanie's cases are still on my mind all the time...

I have put in some time on this case and here are some of my thoughts.

* I believe she was taken (not a runaway)

* I want to believe KK's story. The police exhausted their efforts on him and got nowhere. I think it is unlikely that he is responsible for her disappearance.

* So working off that - we assume KK dropped her off on E.wausau ave, and MM (boyfriend) was not there. Therefore I doubt MM did it either.

* So if not one of them, who? I believe that the circumstances of her disappearance favor the idea that she was taken by a complete stranger. Often times the abductor is someone the victim knows, and the crime is plotted. I do not think that is the case here since nobody other than KK or the mcdonalds friend knew where she was. I think she was lost and crossed paths with a predator.

* The area she was last seen is on the edge of the Wausau. To me, the location is important because its not like its in the middle of town where hundreds of people may be in and out of an area. Unless there was an event at East HS that night? Anyone?

Thank you for your thoughts!! I wonder if LE has actually exhausted their investigation of KK, tbh. Lynsie Ekelund's case springs to mind for me always when I think of Kayla.

Chris McAmis finally brought closure to her case when a Cold Case investigator at OC Sheriff's office questioned him almost 9 years later. He had claimed a very similar story. It must have been a huge relief for McAmis to stop looking over his shoulder, I have to say.

I find your observations interesting, but, for different reasons, which I've outlined in post #79 at the below WS forum.

Laine R. Shields aka Lloyd R. Repinski, another suspect named by Glendon Gouker (a convicted murderer) in the Togstad/Mumbrue murders, has family ties to the Minneapolis area. The newspaper reported him as having visited there shortly before an unexplained fire on his property in Amherst, WI; one of quite a few fires linked to him. So I know he's been there. The middle names of the two missing persons from the Minneapolis area also are an interesting similarity, one of who is Native American. That would make about five missing/murdered Native Americans included in my list of unsolved missing/murdered women in the mid-Wisconsin area.

Familysearch.org also shows a marriage for Lloyd, but no record of divorce. Somewhere around this time Lloyd's name changed from Repinski to Shields. He was married five other times, all failed marriages.

BTW, the third suspect in the 1992 Togstad/Mumbrue murders is rumored to be a redhead in his thirties (in 1992?). Maybe one day an official description with a sketch will be released.

Meanwhile, I'd stay clear of the casinos in Shawano County if I was a gambler. The missing women and bodies seem to be piling up pretty quick in that area.

It's been seven years since Kayla Berg seemingly vanished into thin air. Berg, who will turn 23-years-old later this month, was last seen on August 11, 2009.

"I never anticipated that 7 years later, we still wouldn't have seen her," Megan Jage, one of Kayla's best friend at 15, said after Thursday's vigl. "I've [gone] over it so many times in my head it's like an old record playing over and over again."

"'Talk to you soon' and 'I love you very much.' And her words back were 'I love you too, Mom. Talk to you later.'" Those last words were remembered by Kayla's mother, Hope Sprenger.

Sprenger said despite the unfaltering support from the Antigo community and police, August 11 never gets easier.

"Horrible in one word," Sprenger described. "You can't describe it.... I don't know how much more I can do on this day."

Kayla's mother also told NewsChannel 7 she can't say enough about the Antigo Police Department's work over the years, saying even after all this time, she knows her Kayla is in their hearts and minds.

There are many cases in which police have a suspect but they just don't have sufficient evidence to arrest that person. I think this is one of those cases and I think Kielcheski is still considered a person of interest.

Seven years ago, 15-year-old Kayla Berg went missing, after she was last seen in Wausau outside of her boyfriend's house.

It's been suggested that the girl seen in a particular YouTube video from 2009 (search for "Hi Walter! I got a new gf today!") could be Kayla Berg. I'm skeptical as the whole video seems seems rather contrived, but it's curious all the same.

The Antigo, Wisconsin police department is aware of the video. Two locations mentioned in the video are Kay Jewelers and JCPenney at "the mall".

Wausau, WI, where Kayla Berg disappeared, does have a Kay Jewelers, which is located at the Wausau Mall. JCPenney closed in 2015.

Someone on a facebook thread regarding the "Hi Walter" video made a note that in Wausau, January 2009, Walter Lassa murdered his ex girlfriend, Robin Dunwoody in the parking lot of Wausau Manor, a nursing home.

Coincidence? Kayla was dropped off in front of a condemned house (I was actually in that house as a kid). that's across the street from Colonial Manor. A nursing home. The house is still condemned. I drive past it often.

If you look at the picture of Robin Dunwoody (https://www.meaningfulfunerals.net/home/index.cfm/obituaries/view/fh_id/14941/id/2770666), she looks a LOT like Kayla. I know that might not mean anything but just something to note.

Did this "Patrick" know Walter Lassa or Robin Dunwoody? Could this video been shot in the condemned house?

Honestly, I don't remember much of the interior of the house. I babysat for kids there around 1992-1994. I am sure it changed a lot before it was condemned.

I hope today someone recognizes this guy and calls the police!! and as awful as this sounds I hope he still considers her his girlfriend and she can be rescued by nightfall!
