Ferrall is a white man around 5-foot-11-inches tall and 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a multi-colored sweater, the sheriff’s office said.

The Dane County Sheriff’s office reported Wednesday that they are looking for 62-year-old Paul...

He was last seen on Friday, July 19, in the Town of Burke near Larry Lane, police said. He reportedly left the area on foot and was recently seen in the downtown Madison area.

“He had no wallet, no ID, no money, no ATM. And his phone was dead. So, I don’t know what his mission was that night right before dusk,” Bruce said. “He made contact with his doctor that day because he wanted to make an appointment to see the eye doctor. Just to make an appointment and then walk off like that? That’s not consistent.”

Loved ones add Paul struggles with cognitive impairment and isn’t always himself.

Though he doesn’t have his own vehicle, he often uses rideshare services and frequents Downtown Madison.

Paul Ferrall’s brother Bruce Ferrall says he spoke with his older brother on July 19th. Paul went missing that evening.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office has utilized K9s, drones and ATVs to search near the 62-year-old’s residence in the Town of Burke, but have had no luck so far.

On Monday, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office continued their search by looking in a new area that they couldn’t search before.

Deputies have previously searched wooded areas near where he was last seen, but had not yet searched in the cornfields.

Seventeen deputies went out into the cornfield on Monday to search for new evidence and information. Schaffer said they could not search this specific area previously due to time constraints and staff.

The sheriff’s office says they have not received any new tips, information, or sightings recently.

Oh dear. This is pretty close - 5.5 miles. :(

A body was discovered Sunday inside of a tent on Madison’s east side, police reported.

The Madison Police Department said two people were walking in a swampy area near the 4700 block of Lien Road around 5:10 p.m. when they found the body and called police.

Friends of a missing endangered Madison man are planning a celebration for his birthday on Saturday, Dane County officials shared on Friday.

The celebration will take place at Parthenon restaurant at 12 p.m. which is Paul Ferrall’s favorite restaurant.

"Nobody has seen a hair of him, no word from him, no evidence of him using a credit card or a cell phone or anything," said SL, a close friend of Ferrall.

SL was joined by two other close friends of Ferrall: LC and LB. They've all bee friends with Ferrall for over 40 years. They met at Ferrall's favorite spot to eat to celebrate his birthday - Parthenon Gyros.

"I've sat here quite a lot, at least once a week, having a gyro watching for Paul, hoping we'll see him," LB said.

A few extra details from the Wisconsin Missing Persons Alert FB page (I hadn’t seen these mentioned elsewhere):

Paul Ferrall, 62, may be confused without his medication. He walked down the driveway at 7:40 pm July 19th and has not been seen again. He lived on the north side of Madison (town of Burke) Wi.

I can link the above but wasn’t sure yet what the rules are here.

A couple of events taking place on July 19th which might have appealed to him:

Maxwell Street Days: Sidewalk sales and events, July 18-21, State Street, Madison
Dane County Fair: July 18-21, Alliant Energy Center, Madison

News reports mention his love of going to State Street (a downtown, car-free shopping street full of restaurants), and Maxwell Street Days is one of the most popular yearly events there. But you’d certainly expect someone to take a wallet, and his brother stressed that Paul had no wallet, ID, money (not sure how he was aware of that, however.)

Reports have pointed out that Paul did use ridesharing apps (presumably this means Uber and Lyft?) - would it be possible to order a ride and then get onboard without ID (I’ve never taken one)? Still - why travel downtown with no money or phone.
