Even though the kids were declared dead, no remains were ever found- at least remains that were proven to be the kids. I would push that thought with Doe.

Wasn't there writing on the back of the picture? What did it say?

Looks like the same person. Louis as a child has a mole or dip in his right eyebrow. After enlarging this picture, it appears the man in the picture has the same thing on his right eyebow.

Partial prison number?
I know the numbers are usually longer. But in real life shorthand, do the prisoners ever shorten them?

Hello all,

My grandfather told me that a specialist on age progression looked at the picture and concluded that that was not Louis. I do not remember the name of the specialist...Jennie does Sylvia know?

Nevertheless, I still would like to get a second opinion just for clarification. I have some contacts with the FBI through a project (see the link on my signature) I was working on. I will send some e-mails and see if I can get any help from that angle.

One a second note....I cannot get a really good clear image of the picture. If anyone can get an amazing image copied of the picture...please e-mail it to me at jbandytips@yahoo.com so I can send it on over to my contacts.

I have what I think is a direct, and perhaps quicker solution.

Since you (the Sodder family) have the postmark from the original envelope, and we know this is a compelling story, I would interest the local paper in that area in printing the picture and doing a "Have You Seen This Man?" story, explaining what happened.

Someone in that town will know who that is (or was). Most people from 1968 will still be alive. I also looked into this once and most people do not leave their hometowns. A ridiculously high number of people who lived there in 1968 will still be there. He is also a good looking young man. Someone is going to remember that face.

If by any chance the paper does now want to pursue this, which I don't think is likely AT ALL, or you would rather not have a piece like this done, you could take out an ad and print it yourself.

Yaya, I edited my post. The number that I have is A90132 or 35. Sorry for the typo. As far as the different numbers that you mention, I don't know about that. My info is from book written by George & Melody Bragg. Maybe Grand-daughter can clarify this as she has the picture.

Could someone please clarify the numbers on back of photo:

In a post by Fox1950 the # on the back of the Louis
photo is A90132 or A90135

In another post it said 090132 or 090135

and now A00132 or A00135

Here are links for Newspapers in that area.

www.kentuckynewera.com This one is in Hopkinsville, Ky which is a daily paper

www.ky-leadernews.com This one is a weekly paper but is in Central City, KY where the picture was postmarked.

I have spent most of the day researching Central City, KY and have found a ton of information online. I located an email address for the Central City High School Alumni Assoc. and am going to email the picture. Who knows maybe someone will recognize it. Perhaps they have old years books and would take the time to look through them. Central City was quite a booming town back in the 40's. I will post more information about that in another post.

Good idea. It looks like maybe Central City High School is no longer there. In searching for schools, I found 2 high schools for that county. One North & one South. Must have combined the student population in the county into 2 schools. I know they are doing that here in WV. Student population is just not larger enough to support schools in each town. I did notice that the total high school pop was only like 1400.

Post it in classmates and reunion sites in the Central City area?

So likely that the student populations all knew each other. If you post it, you may want to list the fact that he may have gone by the name Louis Sodder as he may also have been given a different name. We don't want anyone dismissing the post because the guy they remember, had a different name.
At the time the pic was sent to the family, how old would Louis have been?

One important thing to remember is this was sent to Mrs. Sodder after the issue of the detective magazine came out. I do not know if the children pictures were listed individually in the magazine or if there was just a picture of the bill board. I think you should do this, both Jonathan and Shadow 205. But if this was a hoax then I think likely anyone involved in the hoax including this man would not own up to knowing this person. Just an opinion, but if you do investigate I really wouldn't let anyone know why I was searching for this man. It could be the man never knew his picture was used if it is not Lewis. To the family: Does this man resemble Joe, John, or George, or George, Sr.

Does anyone have any why of enhancing the man's photo and posting it. I looked at it under a magnifying glass after I sent it to myself in an email and was able to work with the picture a little. Would take it to Walmart and get it blown up but my printer isn't working.

Fox, all you got to do is go to Walmart.com, upload the picture, then choose your Walmart and go in and pick it up. I do it all the time. Pretty cool.

Thank you, thank you. Never thought of that!
