how far is the reserve they are searching from the Laundries house and how did he get there?
The Carlton Reserve is about 15 minutes north of BL’s house. It’s suspected that he walked there yesterday evening after sneaking out of his parents home.
*ETA: it’s about a 5 hr and 30 minute walk from BL house to Carlton Reserve.

This is carry over from the prior thread. I was in the middle of writing it when the thread close. Silly me for being wordy.

Camping in vans is inherently dangerous. It is only one step up from sleeping in a tent, where one is terribly vulnerable to all kinds of dangers--two-legged and four-legged. A van provides much less protection than sleeping behind the locked doors of a home. There is no bathroom-so if you have to go in the night, you have to exit the van. Anyone can walk right up on you in a van and you wont know it if you are asleep.
IMO this would have to be statistically verified. It's not my experience with the two-legged kind. The four-legged kind come with the territory.
I have camped outdoors, either in a tent or my car, for maybe a thousand nights. In my experience, I have only twice EVER had someone come into my campsite, neither out West. In NY, it was unsupervised kids (like 10-year-olds) in a state campground, while I was out. LE was called, and the whole extended family was evicted for lack of supervision.
In ME, at Acadia, a man came through the bushes into my spot when it was pitch black out and I was reading at the picnic table. It was drizzling. I was by myself. He asked, "Where's your husband?" Me: FREAK OUT! I said something lame. He asked again, Where's your husband?" Me: SUPER FREAK OUT! Um, um, um....
Returning to my senses: "Can I help you with something?" "Well, yes, but I need your husband." "What is it?" "This is the first time I've ever been camping. I borrowed a tent and I don't know how to put it up, and my flashlight doesn't work." Me: "No problem. I do that for a living." LMAO. The (paper) instructions dissolved in the rain, too, and it was the most insanely impossible tent you can imagine, and he had almost no hope of staying dry because it was so poorly designed.... Lecture to stranger man: "Never ever ever go through the bushes into someone's campsite. Go around by the road and ask to enter." Soon the whole row of campers had taken him under their wing...

The police can mislead in their public statements and do it when necessary. If they keep repeating that they will just take BL home, it isn’t because they are trying to convince you of that. It’s probably because they want BL to be convinced of it. That could be why they kept saying that they had no crime for a criminal investigation m. It’s very likely they do but don’t want BL doing anything drastic until they are ready to pursue the criminal angle.JMO
I think the authorities drastically misjudged Laundrie, his family, and the attorney. I believe that the pressure was intended to draw out information. when it seems that it made information gathering all the more difficult. Did the Laundrie camp bring this on ... yeah, sure. But clearly, the authorities didn't get it right... at least, that part.

4 songs were added to the playlist "Mtn tops," on an account Gabby Petito appears to share with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie: Many of the songs, collected on an account she appeared to share with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, focus on love and heartache.
"Your woman is your angel, is your left side, is your whole life; easily the most beautiful thing in the world," one song, Matt Berry’s "Woman," begins. "She'll soothe you; she'll accuse you; she'll confuse you; she'll lose you but always be the best friend you have in the world."

Another song, "Take My Hand," is about picking up a stranger at a bar. "The Badger’s Wake" is about a badger decomposing underground.

ETA discovery of the van by Gabbys dad on person is questionable- he may have driven by and called LE (need to research this)

Has him flying back to FL been confirmed. I noticed today on her Instagram from AUG 19th she is sitting with her knees towards someone’s back and it appears to be him. How can it be him, if he was supposedly in Florida. This is unless she took the pic another time and posted it. I think we need to consider he never did the storage move and was there the whole time.

SEP 1: BL returns home to FL alone, retains an attorney & is uncooperative with the investigation

Hello, thank you for keeping this timeline! I have some questions about that entry tho. 1.) how do we know exactly when he returned? 2.) what time did he return? Morning, night? etc? 3.) How do we know he was alone? 4.) Didn't the investigation start weeks later? *Edit* 5.) Do we actually know when the attorney was retained? 6.) Also, do we know if the attorney was retained for some other reason besides missing person? eg.. Attorney retained because accusation of stolen car, or stolen items?

Thanks!

Thanks - I have pasted this into my opening post so others can get up to speed quickly given how fast this is moving.

It takes a village!! :D

they can but so far nothing has changed to classify a crime having happened.. Not unless some evidence from the van or elsewhere has shown up and that has not been released to the public. As it is they can take him home and sit infront of his house to make sure he doesn't leave again without being followed until this resolved. That's about it
We don’t know what has happened behind the scenes that LE isn’t sharing. There are plenty of cases when police have evidence to identify suspects and in some cases even press charges, but will wait to do so if they have eyes on that person. That gives them time to keep tabs on the POI/suspect while digging for more evidence against them without spooking them with charges. JOM

And BL didn't own a cell phone ...he said it in the Moab body cam video...only she had a cell phone...he wouldn't even accept water bc it came in a plastic water bottle...she did btw
He sure didn't have any problem sleeping in a polyester tent when she had a hard-sided vehicle with a bunk. Or carrying, he said, a tarp around. Which was also probably poly, derived from petroleum. And, IIRC, he was the impetus for getting her to buy a larger vehicle for their travels, thus increasing their carbon footprint.

but didn’t a couple say he offered them 200 for a ride?? Maybe they saved up! Was this really gabbys thing or just something she did for him

Gabby has been an outdoorsy person since at least 2016 based on her instagram. I think this was a common interest that they likely bonded over initially tbh. I think the WAY they want to do / experience it and the reasons may be very different though. Which later caused conflict.

I know people are worried that the parents gave false information to LE. If they did, that's a crime. It's a federal crime to lie to an agent. 18 USC § 1001. So both of his parents could be actually arrested and charged with felonies. So if they did lie - at least someone will start to pay for what's happening and deal with actual consequences.

At that point ethically their son's lawyer could not represent them. It is an actual conflict of interest. When they have their own lawyer he or she will be obligated to explain to them what 5 years in prison means.

18 U.S. Code § 1001 - Statements or entries generally

Edit: I should note that these are areas "I THINK" they are searching for Gabby. I cannot 100% confirm this search is for Gabby. It is the same tail#/identifier as yesterday and the only aircraft in the area doing an active search-style flight pattern.

Also police have to follow the rules. If they don't, a case of murder can be thrown out of court down the line.
