Gabby Petito’s Boyfriend Brian Laundrie Left Behind Wallet And Cellphone Before He Disappeared – CBS Miami (cbslocal.com)
[...]

Local and federal officials continue to search for any signs of Laundrie in the Carlton Reserve, a roughly 25,000-acre nature preserve near his parents’ home in North Port. The search had paused Thursday overnight due to darkness, the North Port Police Department said.

Law enforcement began their search of the area after Laundrie’s family said to police last Friday that he had not been seen for days, telling his family he was headed to the reserve before not being heard from again. A source said Laundrie left behind his wallet and cellphone.

Laundrie’s parents are concerned that he might hurt himself, the source said.

North Port Police public information officer Josh Taylor declined to comment to CNN on the report, saying, “I cannot give any statement to a timeline at this time. That investigation is being conducted by the FBI.”

Ok, so now we know BL left his parents home leaving wallet and phone behind and his parents waited 3-4 days before reporting him missing? Fishy as heck IMO. If a loved one leaves my house without a wallet or phone I’m calling the po po immediately!

Quick stop in this morning to say Happy Friday! And we keep debating how he could change his look and blend in right now. I just saw a guy walking on the side of a highway wearing a do-rag on his head and a face mask. On a bridge over a swamp and probably 400 cars have passed him without giving him a second look. And I couldn’t begin to describe him even with a second look. (But I could pull him off my dash cam but BL ain’t in my neck of the woods for sure.:p)

In the motion for the detention hearing, prosecutors state that there is a "serious risk" that the "defendant will flee" as well as a "serious risk for obstruction of justice."

"The court should detain the Defendant because there are no conditions of release which will reasonably assure" Laundrie's appearance in court or the "safety of any other person and the community," according to the motion.

A pre-trial hearing in the case would allow prosecutors to argue that Laundrie should be detained immediately when and if investigators find him.

The motion requesting the detention hearing was filed on the same day that Wyoming's District Court issued an arrest warrant for Laundrie in connection with the disappearance and death of Petito, 22.
Federal prosecutors want to hold a hearing to detain Laundrie — even though investigators don't know where he is

So, we know the van was parked at the Spread Creek camp area. We have witnesses that helped Laundries travel along the road around the Jackson area and the Spread Creek camp area.

I wonder why he didn't bring attention to Gabby ?

It would seem that the alibi of camping in the wilderness and being surprised that Gabby was missing upon his return would require that he call authorities for help to find her.

Instead, he drove off with her van, used her debit card, and came home, refused to speak to authorities, has parent's lawyer, and then disappears.

We have reports from the drivers that picked up Laundrie that he spoke about camping in an isolated area along the Snake river and Gabby was writing her blog.

So, might we expect a dialog from Gabby mentioning the wilderness trip while she stayed in the van ? We would expect that Gabby would have dropped him off and picked him up rather than Laundrie needing to hitchhike ? Their cellphones worked in the area. Especially, a camping area.

Laundrie left Gabby in a field, left the camp site, left home, did not get involved with her search.

Fantastic post! Certainly points out that it's far more likely that he killed her before his camping along the Snake River than after. I think he probably killed her on the 26 or 27, freaked and took off up Spread Creek towards the river on foot. While backpacking, composed himself and formulated a plan. Cleaned up at Coulter Bay, hitched back to the van, and took off like a bat out of hell. Why that is the plan he chose, which seems so ill-advised, is anyone's guess. Unless those family bonds are so strong he knew he'd have their help.

I know, but in WY is a misdemeanor even if the initial crime is a felony and you are related. In FL, close family is exempt, and most of the time prosecutors only use it as a tool to get someone to testify. They wont waste the resources.

Family is exempt from what? Can you please cite this statute? I mean, are you saying that in the state of Florida you can aid and abet felony murder and/or be an accessory to felony murder after the fact and it's legal if you're related to the person?

It's an online thrift store that's very trendy nowadays. You can buy/sell clothes, art, books, etc. People start their own "shops," most do it casually but some create businesses that they can rely upon for steady income. You can see some of Brian's art on her page, and she was even doing custom shirt orders.

Ok cool! Thanks! Sounds like a neat site too!

Totally agree. I think they were advised to shut up and they did. I also don't think the FBU are as stupid as people think. There is more evidence he is in that reserve, or was in that reserve than the parents assertion. They have access to alot more than we do, such as traffic cams, the GPS of the mustang, ATM withdrawals, I assume they followed up the camping trip (if there even was one) this is from one neighbour, who, in my opinion liked being interviewed.

And the reserve might have those motion-activated cams for monitoring wildlife that he might be seen on.

Anthony Rickman (Defense Attorney) was on Live Fox Now discussing indictment and “suspect” vs POI. He’s got some great insight into the IMO… a good watch. Video isn’t uploaded yet on Fox. Will upload once it’s available.

What’s a Depop account?? Forgive me, I’m old lol not up on the young kids sites lol.
I have no idea myself. Never heard of it before today

I think the possibilities are now pretty limited. He's not smart enough to move around without being spotted and I don't buy that he's any kind of survivalist for a second.

I think either
  1. He's dead
  2. He's holed up in some improvised spider-hole, an outbuilding, boat in storage, that has nothing to do with the parents, with very limited supplies, and no way of getting more, and getting desperate.
  3. He's in some safe-ish location that was prepared by him and the parents during the supposed camping trip, probably with a fair amount of supplies, but still feeling like a trapped rat and starting to realise the game is up
Point being he just isn't smart enough to evade detection on the move.

He could be holed up with a friend. If I had someone here, highly highly unlikely anyone would find. And folks here don’t watch much news. Not to mention scads of young men look just like him here. I have no doubt he could just start over in my neck of woods if he had one person here to be his stepping stone or if smart enough (which I doubt) he came into town himself. I hope LE checking out all of family contacts.

I’m fairly sure they loaded him up with burner phones and cash

The fact that he was in possession of her debit/credit card seals it for me. He can't claim she just ran off somewhere. She would have taken her $/cards with her. JMO

True. But he could claim he took her cards and left her because they had a fight, and when he left her she was alive. That would be theft at the most, right? MOO

My only thoughts on an alternative are that she had a Bumble account and some of their travel or upcoming camping/sights to see were public.

I work in a field that involves assessing risk for sex-trafficking and online stalking (more with at risk-children and young adults, often involved with child welfare services). We just wrapped up some amazing webinars by the FBI related to the technology and apps used by these monsters and how they target people, everything from Instagam, YouTube, Snapchat, gaming chat apps, and many, many others. After spending hours learning about the intricacies of how they operate, including pretending to be a friend online... it certainly isn't outside the realm of possibilities in Gabby's case. She was darling, quite engaged in online communities and sometimes alone. All speculation, MOO!
Are you saying some sex trafficker killed her? Why?
