Question here: how did FBI get involved, why was this a federal case as soon as the Laundries filed the missing persons report? Gabby’s body was not yet found. No charges were filed against him. Or am I mistaking the timeline here?

Local police can request assistance from the FBI and I’m guessing that’s what happened here. If it was just a regular missing person case they probably wouldn’t have but with how big the case had grown they asked for some help.

In my experience you need an account to use library internet, which requires you to get a library card, which requires ID and proof of address. Just my experience in using library internet, but it was definitely traceable.

Maybe, but they have to be provable (probable cause). Until then, he's got a clean record (I haven't heard otherwise) and a midemeanor bank card fraud. Any decent lawyer could win him a fine and probation - which is why all of this running from the law is so ridiculous. I blame all of this LE expense and wild behavior on the advice of his really out-of-touch lawyer. I've never seen a lawyer's advice make his client and family appear so utterly guilty before charges are lain that warrant flight. Its crazy.

The arrest warrant is for felony bank fraud, not misdemeanor

that library is also just a couple blocks away from a same day passport office and only a few blocks away from Casey Anthony attorney Cheney Mason

When I reread the media thread last night, the first mention of fbi involvement that I saw was fbi assistance in processing the seized van. MOO

I sure wish BL had been under surveillance from the git go. I know it's hind sight, but so many ID shows with similar circumstances show surveillance initiated right away on a POI that hasn't been formally labeled a POI.

I keep thinking about how BL fancies himself as such an outdoorsman, survivalist type person. I feel he was manipulative during the LE van stop incident in order to avoid blame and deflected fault on Gabby. He, apparently, runs and isolates when he feels threatened. How many miles did he run when Gabby died? This guy protects himself pretty well. Does this seem like someone who might contemplate suicide or someone who would try to run and survive?

A neighbor did an interview stating that BL and his dad loaded up the trailer and the three of them went camping over a long weekend.

Ok thank you. So, the neighbor witnessed them packing the camper and then they drove off, so the neighbor "inferred" that they went camping. The neighbor wasn't actually "told" by them that they were going camping. I don't know about that area, but where I live, you pretty much have to have camping reservations months (and sometimes a year) in advance for any major holiday weekends for camping. There would be absolutely no way to just get lucky finding a spot over Labor Day for camping. MOO

I do not doubt you at all. With virus restrictions however, in my area at least, "in person" anything is shut down. I would factor that in at this time if the offices they would have gone to have restrictions in place.

If BL or his attorney wasn't directly notified by LE to stay in Florida before the FBI warrant he could have legally obtained or updated a passport in FL and left on an international flight legally.
Correct?
I am under the impression Florida never shut down or closed like other states so he could have made an appt and walked in and applied for a passport or an emergency around Sept 1st when he returned to Florida.
However, the FBI should have access to this info.
I have to assume they would have this info.

He could have left his phone behind while having several burners. Not using credit or debit cards, is another way to avoid detection. I think I was told once that lawyers don’t want you to confess your crime or crimes to them. I don’t think lawyers are supposed to encourage illegal behavior or know about a future crime or a continuing one. If parents communicate with their fugitive son that might be covered by privilege if he knows. He can have suspicions a lot of things or give hypothetical advice to his clients. It’s his job to create reasonable doubt.

I was wondering something. The reserve is -- what? -- 15 minutes from the Laundrie house? If so, why would an avid barefoot hiker need to drive the car over there to hike? And why would he need his parents to leave it there so he can have a ride home? Am I mistaken that the park is that close to their house?

If your passport is stamped, it is also recorded. They would already know where he crossed the border and have video of him doing so. There is a database where you can look at your history of crossing borders using your us passport. You need a permit to enter Mexico. In Canada, I believe you need a passport, or nexus card and proof of citizenship from your county of origin.
