Here is my take on what could have happened:-

You have two young people who are in love and have decided to take a trip around the country, Initially BL is happy to be travelling around with his girlfriend taking in the sights etc. GP has a slightly different view of the trip, hoping that this will be an ideal way to spend time with her boyfriend and to also get into social media vlogs etc.

After a while cracks start to appear in the relationship, there are tensions resulting from cramped living conditions, BL being ‘not clean’, GP trying to get her social media stuff done. I believe that BL had probably driven off before after an argument and that is why the police cam incident occurred. GP did admit on police cam that she did hit BL and she was scared he was going to drive off. I wonder if this is the way BL dealt with their arguments etc.

I think maybe after this incident tempers flared again and BL decided he’d had enough and they decided to split up, resulting in him flying home and getting rid of her things. If he told his parents that she had physically hurt him during arguments they may have been more inclined to say “well let’s get her stuff out of here” etc. Maybe they talked on phone and decided they still loved each other and were going to try again so he returns to GP.

Then unfortunately nothing changes and another big argument happens. This time maybe BL has definitely had enough and angrily decided to drive off once and for all to spite her, not thinking of the consequences. They may have been in an area where he thought it was quite safe leaving her there, people around, with provisions etc and she would make her own way home . Then after returning home and not hearing from her maybe he tries calling but gets no answer and thinks she is ignoring him. This maybe why he hadn’t said anything to anyone and why he’s locked himself away. Then it all changes when her mums calls/texts and wants to know where GP is - he panics knowing he’s left her alone and keeps quiet.

I really don’t think he would have killed her because, if he had, surely he would return with a ‘prepared story’ about how she met someone else and decided to go travelling with them instead, etc.

This is just one theory - MOO. I just hope that she is found soon.

I agree with you; but it almost assuredly is a little cold, and speaks (IMO) to the likelihood that they have already accepted Gabby as gone from this world because they have insider information.

Thanks, I was temporarily thrown off by the thread title slug.

Do we know roughly how many states they have purportedly crossed since the timeline started being kept?
At the very least Utah and Wyoming. There is a route that would go through Idaho as well.

Don't know what to think about all we are seeing here, but one thing seems very clear, despite Brian's sketchy behavior upon returning home.

GP had ample chance of running into any unsavory character once she and Brian parted, including the guilty party in the murders of KS & CT after they left Woody's.

Is it possible GP returned to Moab, went back to Moonflower co-op, recognized KS as a possible source of help or not being completely alone (possible KS confessed she and CT had called police?) and invited GP to Woody's and to camp with them?

WHEN DID BRIAN TAKE THE VAN?
So many possible scenarios really, unless/if Brian gives us a benchmark.

Oof, I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Laundrie home right now. There is national outrage at his silence and LE have publicly said that they are not ruling out a potential connection to a double homicide in addition to this girl’s disappearance. His parents must be very torn. This must erupt any time now. It’s so close.

Hi everyone, first time lurker, first time poster here. I got hooked on this case last night and I just got caught up right before this thread was closed, so forgive me if there’s anything I forgot/missed! Ever since finding out Gabby and Brian were in the same area as Kylen and Crystal my first instinct was that the cases were related, and I’ve gone back and forth on it but I’m coming back around to it now. I’m gonna divide the timeline into weeks just for clarity but so far we have:

Week 1
Monday Aug 9- hike at Arches.
Aug 10-11- still in Moab, presumably staying at same reservation-only campsite

Friday Aug 12th- Gabby spends the day working on blog stuff at moonflower, where Kylen is working; her shift ends an hour or two before G&B have the argument that results in the stop/possible DV incident. Brian is taken to a hotel room in Moab with Gabby left to drive the van north back to the campsite at Arches

Friday, Aug 13th- Crystal and Kylen last seen at Woody’s in Moab, after which they drive south, park at the McDonalds and go to their campsite, intending to camp for the weekend of the 14-15. At some point, texted friends about the creepy guy.

Week 2
Monday Aug 16- K&C don’t show up at work. Presumably, Monday night is also the latest G&B arrived in SLC, depending on when the flight the next day was

Tuesday Aug 17th- BL flies to Florida (or at least bought a ticket to do so), leaving Gabby and the van at a hotel in SLC.

Aug 18th- Kylen and Crystal are found.
Aug 19th- an unusually boring post is made on GP’s Instagram showing BL in the van at an undisclosed location.
Saturday Aug 21- GP’s dad orders DoorDash to her hotel in SLC for her

Week 3
Monday Aug 23- BL’s return flight
Aug 24- BL and GP check out of the hotel in SLC, presumably heading for Grand Teton
Wednesday Aug 25- Gabby and her mother talk on FaceTime. Those adorable pictures of GP taken at that mural in Moab, almost two weeks prior, are posted on Instagram. [Correction: the mural is in Ogden, not Moab]
Friday, Aug 27- texts sent from Gabby’s phone

Week 4
Monday, Aug 30th- Gabby’s phone texts her mom that there’s “no service in [Yellowstone].”
Tuesday, September 1- Bryan and the van return to Florida

I’m noticing that we don’t know where Gabby spent Thursday (8/12) night after the incident, or where they spent the following several days/nights of Aug 13th-16th. Did Gabby drive the van to the campsite and back at all, or did she meet Brian later that night? Did they spend the rest of their time in Moab camping at Arches, or did they move campsites over the course of the Aug 14th weekend?

When did they leave Moab? Realistically, no earlier than the 13th or later than the 16th, right? We know Kylen and Crystal were murdered at the absolute latest on Monday (16th) morning, Brian flew out on the 17th, and they were found the 18th. I do genuinely believe this could be a coincidence, but then there’s a second suspect involved which is a whole other issue.

Let’s look at that alternative, that they’re unrelated cases. What explains GP and BL’s actions? Based on my own experiences of mental health problems and taking road trips with my boyfriend, it’s reasonable they could have fought, broke up, and had him fly home anyway. (I once flew home early from a road trip with some friends because of anxiety— which sucked but was the rational thing to do at the time.) Over the next few days, they decide to have him fly back and either drive the car home, since she can’t, or continue the trip they planned. Whether or not G&B saw or knew anything about K&C, I think BL must have wanted to go back to SLC as much as GP needed him back, and wanted to tie up loose ends of whatever kind himself, even if only to keep GP from making him look bad post-breakup.

But that’s all just my $0.02

Ms. Petito is 5’5”, 110 pounds, has long blonde hair, blue eyes & visible tattoos on her hand & forearm. She & her boyfriend were driving a white 2012 Ford Transit van with a variety of stickers on the back. The van is registered to Ms. Petito with Florida plate QFTG03.

Ms. Petito, 22, was last known to be in the area of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming in late August 2021 and was reported missing on September 11, 2021. She was on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend, visiting national parks in Colorado, Utah & Wyoming.

This. I really wonder if the double homicide thing is shaking things up in the family right now. Because even if Brian DID tell his parents what happened to Gabby, he very likely said nothing about the two women in Moab. Even if he didn't do it, the parents might suspect, and that's just enough pressure to crack.

I've heard many times statements to the effect that the most important thing is to find Petito. It seems that there is strong belief that Laundrie's knowledge would be instrumental in doing so. Presumably, Laundrie may be unwilling to share what he (may) know due to self-incrimination (or something akin to that).

So, I wonder how people would feel about Laundrie receiving full immunity from prosecution? Immunity sets aside the 5th Amendment piece.

I literally was on an hour ago and a new thread has already started, I’ve been listening to Nancy grace podcasts and she brings up an excellent point, first of all no he doesn’t have to talk…JMO if my person was missing and I loved them so much and I was innocent I’d be BEGGING and another thing Gabbys mom got that text wrong location and within the next day he was in Florida?? Something is fishy

No piece of information is too small or inconsequential to help in law enforcement's efforts to bring Ms. Petito home. Additional information about this case will be made available as appropriate. #GabbyPetito

If something would’ve happened and it was an accident or she just wanted left alone you’d think he’d still talk
Yes. That’s by far the most troubling thing here. A life hangs in the balance, and the focus is solely on self preservation.

It’s either selfish beyond belief, or much, much worse.

Yikes yikes yikes. I just started reading this thread and it is quite frankly disgusting. The assumption a man and only a man can be the abuser in a relationship and the rush to hang BL is the exact Reason MGTPW and MRA groups in all their slimeyness exist.

I see what you're saying, but she didnt hurt him severely (a scratch?), he didn't seem in anyway afraid of her, and if he was in any physical danger he could defend himself. Unfortunately, she obviously could not and that's likely why she's missing now. She's the one that's now gone and no one knows where to even start to look for her because he won't say (which makes no sense if he's innocent of wrong-doing or cares even a little bit about her), he drove her van for 30+ hours back to the comfort and protection of his home and parents while she's just.. no where to be found. The outcome of cases like this is all too similar, you shouldn't be "disgusted" that people think a certain way about certain trends. A small young woman missing, her much physically stronger partner that she had a volatile relationship with, who was the last to be with her, is not cooperating and not helping to find her. Yes maybe people shouldn't jump to conclusions, but it's just hard not to think things when the dots just connect in a concerning familiar way..

IMO.
