CL was also back home in time for his truck to be on the news at 4:30 on the 13th. So when did the call occur, when did he leave, when did CL decide it was worrisome enough to require searching, and when did he say screw it? Hmmmm indeed.
OMG. Is there footage of this somewhere?
If BL supposedly left on the morning of the 13th and the parents searched for “hours,” they “got concerned” at what, noon? o_O

It's a grim conclusion I've come to, there, but it would be a matter of suspending my critical facilities to believe that not only mum and dad, but sister also 'missed' calls.

It is well within the range of rational to claim that the Petito's didn't ring just once. They would have tried and redialled and tried again and again and again, and each unanswered call underlines the deliberateness of it. One could believe one missed call. Not hundreds. To various numbers.

These were frantic people ringing. People for whom the very worst that could happen to anyone appeared to be happening. .. they left messages. ......

As to what kind of people are they, I just don't have the words. Horrible doesn't cut it, for me.

I do wonder about these unanswered calls and texts.
Do we even know that the Schmidt's and Petito's had the right numbers for all the Laundrie's?

All they had to do is answer, say “she isn’t here, and Brian is not talking. We are trying to find out more info.” The results would have been the same, and they would have at least shown compassion. When I first heard of this case it was very early on since I was visiting my folks in Long Island and it was being heavily reported on the local news 12 network. I immediately got hooked because the idea that a woman was missing, and her boyfriend she was traveling with has returned without her AND HE AND HIS FAMILY WAS REFUSING TO SAY A WORD ABOUT IT” just blew my mind. Like, WTF, are they even human?
Maybe scared, confused, never dealt with this kind of thing before? Unpolished in this type of situation. Hmmm...maybe more human than you think. We're all living this through filtered details, they're living it up-close-and-personal...big difference.

If the story is they had a big fight, and they broke up, why is HER van in HIS driveway, HIM having driven HER van all the way from Wyoming, and HER having to walk out of Grand Teton, with nothing. Not even a change of clothes...and why are we all talking about never answering the phone to any Petito number, huh??

to be fair, I’m sure none of that would be explained to young kids. I’m sure they had zero knowledge of the car’s legal owner, what was in it or the logistics of Gabby getting around without it. They are little kids.

Thanks for your local knowledge!
I was just wondering if "down an embankment" could also be classed by others as "over a cliff or similar"???
Just that 'embankment" makes me think of a gentle type slope.......But terminology differs in different countries....
I was trying to find an image of Aho Gap.....

I tried too, using "Aho Gap" and all I got was the location of every Gap store in western North Carolina!!! :(
Fuhgeddaboudit!
I guess it was time for a bit of comedy relief!!

Precisely. Which is why they would ask, where is Gabby..?...... No one in their right mind is suggesting the KIDS are in on this hoo-hah, that's just a red herring furphy to distract from the main event, which is, the non answering of ALL phone calls FROM the Petito's TO the Laundries... and the collusion that must have been activated to be READY for the Petito's to start ringing, so that no one slips up and answers the phone. .....

It isn't rocket science.. Its a big stretch to think that all three Laundries, mum dad and sis accidentally didn't answer any of the calls. Not a stretch I am prepared to make, because that wouldn't be rational.

This is kind of a frivolous article (media must be running out of material), but it got me thinking about how focused people are about finding BL by his ears or hand tattoos. I’m thinking he’ll be in hats & gloves. Maybe even bandage his hand- as if injured. Ted Bundy wore a cast… I’m thinking people are going to need to be much more observant to really spot BL. He’ll get good & creative about staying incognito imo.

In general, the humans I associate with may not all be polished, and undoubtedly no one has ever dealt with this, but when people you know call you in a desperate state to locate their daughter, they would answer the calls. They may lie, they may cover up what they know but to ghost people in pain, no that is not basic human decency. At all.

Even more reason to suspect those kids asked 'Where is Gabby".. .. if mom cassie knew nothing, that means those kids had every reason to ask about Gabby.

The idea that they didn't is absurd. I don't know why Cassie expects anyone to believe it.

Sorry, did she say that her kids never asked about Gabby? Is there a link?

This has turned into quite a mystery hasnt it?
Would the authorities release the cause of death at this juncture?

Not IMO. Only the person who killed her knows what he did to cause her death. IF he's captured alive, they'll interrogate him and try and get a confession. If he lies, they'll know.

We still don't know the cause of death in Abby and Libby's case, and neither do the parents and that's almost 5 years ago. They still haven't arrested anyone.

ETA changed 4 years to 5.

There is no reason to think the Petitos and Schmidts had the wrong numbers, in my opinion. Firstly Gabby had been living with the Laundrie's for two years, so all the parents probably had each other's numbers. For another thing, Gabby's parents have stated to the press several times that the calls were not returned and from the Laundrie side we have heard ... crickets. The parents mentioned it again on Dr. Phil and once again the Laundrie's lawyer did not deny it. Why? Because the FBI can easily prove the calls were sent to the right numbers through phone records from Gabby's family. It's a no-brainer, really, JMOO.

To clarify: The discussion about Cassie (BLs' sister) is relating back to a comment I'd read where someone mentioned that Cassie commented how Gabby had not come up in discussion while BL was there because the children were around. Or something to that effect.

I took that to mean that Cassie & the Laundries did not bring up Gabby specifically because of/due to the children for whatever reason.

Then I commented that I thought it was weird that the kids didn't ask "Where's Gabby?" just based off Cassies' previous comment that she & the children always loved being around Gabby etc. All I was saying is that I found it personally odd that Cassies' children wouldn't have been asking for Gabby.

Of course it is inappropriate Imo to discuss breakups and certain "adult" things with children present. I'm just saying, what did they tell the kids?

Not under any circumstances.. I am a bit unpolished myself, actually. I've only dealt with a lost dog. .. But I would be answering that phone, because, if Brian was my son, I'd know why they were calling. I'd already know I 'd lost my son and would know the grief coming down on the Petito's , just a phone call away.

But if the story was that he came back because they had had a big fight or that they had broken up, why would it be weird to not want to bring her up and encourage FaceTime, etc? I really don't get why everyone finds that odd. They were going to sit around having a conversation with the kids about fighting and breaking up?

So, I'm watching this with what you said in mind:
[1:50 mark]
Q: What was going on at Fort DeSoto Campground? What were you guys doing there? Like, was there a campfire?
CaL: We were...yeah, we had s'mores; we had dinner.
Q: Did Brian say anything about Gabby?
CaL: We had our kids there. Nothing came up.
Q: He didn't say anything about Gabby?
CaL: No. We've told the FBI everything. The world does not need to know what the FBI knows. And that's why we're silent.

If BL told his parents and sister that he and GP broke up, it's possible that CaL could have told her kids not to bring it up. It seems as though she could have said that, and explained that's why it didn't come up, but maybe the FBI told her not to tell anyone what BL told her about why he was home without GP so she filtered it out. Whatever the reason, the answer she gives to the question, "Did Brian say anything about Gabby?" seems odd. It doesn't make sense. Something is missing.
