Found Deceased WY - Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito, 22, Grand Teton National Park, 25 Aug 2021 #67

This is one of my questions too, and the answer is possibly yes as there are separate photographs showing the truck moved between late afternoon and later that night on 9/13. Which brings my next question. Isn't the Park lot where the mustang was parked locked after sunset? If so where did they park the truck? Did they drive around to Venice side of the reserve? (Remember this is where the search was heavily focused near the beginning) Were they out with flashlights for 4 hours in the reserve? Did they drive around on 72 that night? (Easily done, about 45 min drive around) After coming up short in finding their son who they say they were worried about why wait 4 more days to report? They changed the date from 9/14 to 9/13 3 weeks later. What went on the night of 9/13?

Now throw in those heavily redacted LE calls we saw. Wasn't one of them on the 13th? I really don't remember, and I have been suspicious of the families activities for some time.

The lot at Mya.....(which is connected to but is NOT the Carlton Reserve) is not visible from the road I don't think it is either, from the gate (could be wrong here) so, after sundown, they couldn't have seen the Mustang, but somehow knew where it was on Tuesday afternoon the 14th after it had been ticketed.......then reportedly, didn't pick it up until Wednesday morning the 15th. So, what's the story, anyway? JMO

This is why I think the argument continued for the rest of the day and culminated in Gabby's death in the early evening of the 27th. We don't know where they were between leaving the restaurant and arriving back at the campsite, but Bethunes captured the van at around 6-6:30 pm not seeing anyone in or near the van. jmo

There may have been an argument, he choked her, but she initially survived. He takes off for a couple days with no real plan, but Gabby was not dead when he left. But she was dead when he came back.

There are documented cases where a person survived the acute strangulation, but died hours afterward from delayed complications. Here's an example.

As always, mere speculation.

That's an interesting, albeit horrible, article on something I never knew could happen. Goes to show there are so many things we can consider.

Maybe we should start an "unpopular theory" club.

Jumping off this info about the L’s “looking” for him in the reserve, for a few hours.

What if LE has evidence of them stashing things for him during that time? Making multiple drops etc. (Evidence I’m think of could be: belatedly pulled video of doing big shops on camera/register receipts for survival stuff; traffic cameras of them coming & going to the Reserve; trail cams, etc). It wouldn’t be a crime as he wasn’t a POI yet. Are they admitting they were there that day because they may know there could be evidence (just providing a cover story). Could that be why LE is looking for him so hard there….

Another thing I think about a LOT is NPPD saying both (to media) “we’re not wasting our time out here” while also saying they haven’t found anything yet (said to B Entin)?! Then again, they have no obligation to tell the truth to media about having found anything…edit to add: & might need to conceal whatever they’ve found (of course, if anything) to protect the investigation…

Has the hotel ever confirmed that BL stayed there the night? Maybe they did meet back up as GP was upset on the bodycam at the thought of separation imo

He doesn't have to get on the stand or say a word for the defense to convince a jury that there is reasonable doubt [ETA: that BL killed GP.] Maybe he will be convicted on the bank fraud charge, but if he "didn't know she was deceased, and had permission to use the card/funds" maybe that will result in a low sentence or no time. ]

There are plenty of cases where the defendant didn't take the stand and were found not guilty.

Two very famous examples:

• California v. OJS
• Florida v. CMA

Agree BL does not have to take stand. I don’t think an advantage in this case. Unless very strong forensic evidence pointing to him, the prosecution has to prove BL killed Gabby with circumstantial evidence with reasonable situations hat could have jury believe possible.

I have always found this story so bizarre from them. Somehow, they knew it was ticketed and kept driving by it. Until they finally took it home a few days later? Did they think "Oh ok he must've really done it, let's bring the car back now"? If they knew he was alive, they surely wouldn't take his only way of travel. *If* they really thought he "was suicidal" they just calmly accepted it and drove their son's car back home like nothing happened? No tears, nothing?

The Laundries were not being watched on Tuesday Sept 13. But Mustang reported missing by Brian Entin that day in the evening. Laundrues likely MOO woke up and found BL gone, maybe a note or text from him saying he went to Reserve or they knew it was a favorite spot for him, so they went there, saw Mustang there and looked for him. Left Mustang there with note to BL. Returned the next day, found notice to remove Mustang, so they did. Looked again for him. After thinking about it Thurs, and discussing with SB, they reported him Missing Friday.
Brian Entin is able to corroborate the Mustang gone on Tuesday evening, back Wednesday

The idea of sleeping alone in a van in a national park would terrify me. I almost wonder if she went to a hotel herself. Although BL told LE that money was tight, it wasn't tight enough to prevent her from spending a week in a hotel in SLC.
