Not saying she’s justified in what she did, but I would 100% rather see the child placed in a competent home, than end up like the COUNTLESS stories we have heard about children who have “gone missing” in the middle of the night. Only to find out later that they were murdered for crying, wetting the bed, stealing food, or just existing.

But that’s just my opinion.
Absolutely agree that it's better he is placed in a home where he will have the right care and attention. It's much better than a situation resulting in abuse, neglect, or loss of life.

I so wish she would take any money from sponsored ads she made with him and about his adoption and put it in a fund for him and his new guardians to use for his care.

Apparently he wasn’t given to a new family. He’s in foster care, from what I’ve been told, through the grapevine. I can’t confirm so take it with a grain of salt but I wouldn’t be surprised.

These people treated their son like a dog with serious behavioral issues.

How Did YouTubers Myka Stauffer And James Stauffer Choose A New Family For Huxley?

“One place we do know Huxley is not is with the state government of Ohio, where the family lives. Val Turner, a spokesperson for the family's local child protection agency, Franklin County Children Services, confirmed to BuzzFeed News that Huxley is not in its custody.

"The adoption for the Stauffer family is an international adoption which does not involve our agency," Turner said, adding, "It appears that [Myka] made arrangements with an individual person, versus an agency."

Myka and James Stauffer, the YouTube stars who recently “rehomed” their own child, have launched a new defense for their actions: Their 4-year-old son “wanted” to live with another family.

In a somewhat confusing video update, Myka says, “We would never just give up a child with special needs; this is a personal matter to Hux; it had nothing to do with he just had autism. Multiple scary things happened inside the home towards our other children, and if these events happened with one of my biological kids, after all the help and after the behaviors we witnessed sadly we would have no other choice then to seek help and get their needs met.”

She goes on to say, “Huxley wanted this decision 100%. We saw that in family time with other people, he constantly chose them and signed with and showed tons of emotion to show us and let us know he wanted this. Huxley never had a say in his adoption, and he needed more help and also wanted this, and we know that 100%.”

My goodness, how disgusting. Of course he chose to live elsewhere. His parents are nutso. Where is child protective services?

None of this is believable...the rehoming to a different family of Huxley’s choosing? Seriously? Would she let one of her birth children choose a different family? A lot of kids think they want to change families at least once in their childhood.* But I really doubt Huxley expressed this desire, and even if he did somehow, he is their child now and he is too young to make this “decision.” Trying to foist the “blame” onto him now that she’s gotten such blowback is a narcissist’s trick...shift responsibility to anyone you can, even y0ur child because you can’t ever admit to making a mistake. Looking at her Instagram and YouTube channel, it screams narcissist IMO. If Huxley seemed to be enjoying another family and relating to them better, that could feel like rejection and be unacceptable to a narcissist. I won’t be surprised to learn that there is much more to this story. Do we have any proof that there is actually another family? I really hope he hasn’t been institutionalized. Poor little guy. :(

*Funny story about wanting a different family. Decades ago, I was on a trip with a friend and her two girls and my daughter, all early teens. Friend had to discipline one of her girls by not allowing her to use the hotel pool. In a huff, her daughter grabbed the phone book from the hotel bedside stand and started leafing through it. Her Mom asked what she was looking for and she snarled, “Adoption Agencies.” We managed to stifle our laughter until we got outside. :D

No doubt there is high demand for adoption on unruly teenagers. LOL.

I think one of the most shocking posts was from August 2018 when they were talking about potentially another adoption and she asked: “We are praying about adopting again. And my husband wants me to ask what special needs would you consider minor or relatively easy to manage that most people wouldn’t consider easy?”

That sure makes it sound like they purposely wanted a child that other people would give them kudos for being such saviors, but didn't want anything that would actually be work.

I think with the boy they just "re-homed," they maybe originally thought he had a brain tumor, and imo, in their heads they thought that was something they could throw money at, get him good medical care, and he'd recover and get all caught up. They truly were not prepared or willing to take on full on special needs. Which would be honest - if she hadn't posting non-stop about how full on "blessed" she was and how much he liked being snuggled hard, and how she wouldn't ever trade him, and the whole fake social media pandering.

Fabletics finally cancelled their sponsorship and association with her.

My first thoughts... why are you talking about the kid like he's a rescue dog - "rehoming" and "forever family"
And secondly would you have "rehomed" him if he was your biological child?

I hope Huxley is doing good in his new home and hasn't been too disturbed by the second big upheaval in his life.

IMO I'm glad he was not harmed physically (that we know of) and I hope their local CPS is investigating to confirm the child is safe & accounted for. Also, again IMO, all youtube videos with him & discussing his situation should be taken down. It is a violation of his privacy & they no longer can make decisions to exploit him. Money the family made from their youtube channel should be put into a trust for him. Sad situation.

Several years before 'influencers' became a thing an acquaintance did almost the exact same thing - except it involved TWO children. Very splashy and public social media campaign raising money to go to China and rescue this (first child) when the couple already had 4 others. Got to China and decided to do a two-fer at the orphanage.

Tons of posts about the wonderfulness of everything once they got back to the states -and then BOOM! "We cannot meet their needs/ nobody told us they was this bad/ we're the victims here" and both children basically given away.

For this reason, I am VERY wary of public adoption campaigns especially when they involve foreign adoptions*.

*I do know many successful foreign adoptions both in my church and work world. But none of them were accomplished by means of this overt commercialism / monetizing /public adoration.

Yikes, poor child had his thumb duct taped because he was a thumb sucker. Unbelievable! How could their “followers” not report the adoptive parents to authorities.

Myka Stauffer Reveals Son Huxley Has Been Re-Homed

As an adoptee, these types of stories upset me considerably - and it seems to me that there should be some kind of penalty for this kind of thing. But the fact that this couple made their son's saga (and his face) a commodity adds an additional layer.

Anyway, it's a one-of-a-kind story (I think) and I hope it stays that way.
