First observation on Defense Closing is that she refers to the State/Prosecution as "the government". IMO, this is purposeful because people tend to distrust "the government". This wording is for the jury's benefit to cast doubt about the State's testimony. JMO

JA specifically said on the stand that the gun ADA was showing him, was shinier, cleaner back in 2011.

She seems to be making a good point that JA had access to the discovery , so he could make up a good believable story. But the fact remains, he is confessing to being involved in a horrible crime---why would he make it all up if none of them were involved?

The only reason he WOULD lie is to LESSENING his involvement. I think he was MORE involved and is lying to deflect and implicate ZA of the murder. He knows he has a trial coming up. He's got a story and he's sticking to it.

Zach is a good boy. He was getting his life together when his brother and 2 best friends lied to the police and accused him falsely of this horrible crime.

I thought that was a fantastic point! Only the killers knew how she was killed.

As far as removing reasonable doubt for others that I cannot say. I have never seen the RD in this case. One must put all of the CE together in its totality and not demand to know certain things individually that doesn't even have to be proved by the state in the first place since ZA is charged with felony murder and acting in concert with the other defendants.

Great point! And as much as I feel that this case deserves the death penalty, I really believe there's too much circumstantial evidence to actually apply such a punishment, should he be found guilty.
