Why refuse it on the night of the incident but then turn around and go in the next day?

Because he realized his self-defense claim would be harder to believe if he didn't have any documentation of alleged injuries?

I agree with you that wearing that stuff doesn't make one a 🤬🤬🤬🤬. My issue would come with the media, who initially depicted pictures of a young, clean cut boy. It's not accurate reporting and to some it takes on the form of trying to steer the public toward a certain view of an individual.

I say, put the most current pics of the victim (and the alleged) and let the public decide for themselves.

So the public will decide based on pictures? That's not what's important here. Even if I never saw what GZ or Trayvon looked like, I'd still be outraged. "Looks" is what caused this to begin with, IMO

IIt wasn't during the basketball game itself, it was during coverage of the basketball game. It was the NBA All Star game, and it was being held in Orlando, of which Sanford is a suburb of. Local tv channels were doing "coverage" of the game for days preceding it.

"Trayvon Martin was shot dead after he took a break from watching NBA All-Star game television coverage to walk 10 minutes to a convenience store to buy snacks including Skittles candy requested by his 13-year-old brother, Chad, the family's lawyer Ben Crump said."

This is the problem I have too. First we heard TM was staying at his 'dad's place'. Then it was 'a relatives' home. Then it's the dad's 'girlfriends house', and now it's the dad's fiance's house. A 'ten minute walk' to a convenience store for snacks *during* the basketball game. Suspended for being tardy. Why can't we just hear what's true rather than a colored version of events that keeps changing? And why did dad call to see if TM had been arrested?

I'd be willing to take that a step further and say he was advised that his self defense claim would be harder to believe with out this documentation.

I am wondering where the outrage is for the hundreds of young black people that are murdered everyday and every night. And they are murdered by people of their own race. Why is the outrage here so great? Is it because it was a person of another race which implies to me it is okay for them to kill each other, but not anyone else.

I hate that this loss of life happened, but people need to get real about it and think with their heads instead of being caught up in this mass hysteria. I read a post last night where someone was asking the question where is the outrage when a child is kidnapped, molested and horribly murdered or a wife and mother is kidnapped and brutally murdered. Don't hear much about that on the news do we? Only when it is a hot story. Well maybe that is because there is so much of it there isn't time to cover it all. The next thing we will be dealing with are the lawsuits. People need to address their priorities. jmo

Yeah; wouldn't the brother have known that Trayvon was out to get skittles an tea and told the dad this? Especially because it's claimed to have been for him. I'm not a parent, but if my son left to apparently buy candy for my other child and then didn't show back up, I'm not sure I'd assume he was out with a cousin or something. JMO

Why is it important and suspicious what Mr. Martin did when he came home from dinner?

The important thing in this story and what is causing all the trouble is the police investigated a homicide of an unarmed 17 yr old kid and in record time decided it was self defense.

They decided it was a good shooting so fast they did not even have the SA come to the scene like normal.

They decided so fast they had the scene processed, all the witnesses statements done and the body removed before the shooting victims dad got home from dinner.

From that night when they hauled off Trayvon's body too this day they have not released the police report and evidence in the case even though they they decided in the first few hours it was a justified shooting.

And who was in charge of this non-crime scene?

Sergeant Anthony Raimondo who even with video in hand of Justin Collison beating a homeless man to the ground from the back and knocking him out did not think a crime had been committed and refused to arrest Justin. (video at link) http://countusin.wordpress.com/2012...st-same-sergeant-that-didnt-arrest-zimmerman/

The supervising officer who initially responded to the killing of Trayvon Martin in Sanford has a prior record of racial controversy. In 2010, Sergeant Anthony Raimondo declined to arrest Justin Collison, who brutally attacked a black homeless man, leaving him unconscious and breaking his nose. Collison, who is white, is the son of a Sanford police officer and the grandson of a former Florida judge.

I believe it was initially stated he left during halftime.

I'm sorry but my oldest is 21 years old and she's always going to be little in my eyes. When she turns 50 if I am still alive, she will still be little to me. I'm sure that most parents feel the exact same way.

<mod snip> Current images of TM show a young man not a "young child." He will always be his mama's baby, true, but to the rest of the world he was a young man.

FWIW, I see my adult children as adults. I fondly remember them as children but see them as adults. So clearly, everyone's mileage may vary.

Stop with the personal attacks. Everyone gets their say and you can't bash or attack them for it. If a post upsets or offends you - you need to alert it and let the mods look at it. Don't take it upon yourself to call the other poster out.

Thanks,

Salem

Everybody - you need to calm down. You need to breathe. This thread has had so many alerts a team of mods cannot keep up.

We understand it is a hot topic and everyone feels passionately about their side of the fence.

When comparing this case to others - try to be sure you are comparing apples to apples. The major complaint in this case, that has caused it to be a case of national importance, is the fact that no one was arrested for the shooting. Comparing it to cases where the perp was arrested is comparing apples to oranges. Those cases don't make national news because LE did their jobs, investigated and arrested someone.

Also, comparing it to cases where there was a trial is comparing apples to oranges - there has not even been an arrest here, so it does not compare to a case that was decided by a jury.

Please try to post responsibly. This is an important discussion, for the entire country. Just pulling things out of thin air, spouting off to fan the flames, and linking to information, pictures, etc. that are clearly not of the parties in this case is just plain inflammatory - we don't need that. This case is emotional enough without looking for ways to make it even more sensational.

Breathe, think about what you are saying and posting. Be sure it is pertinent, linkable if it is not your opinion, and said respectfully. Everybody gets a voice, as long as they post their voice responsibly.

Thank you,

Salem

Well, I learn new things all the time. Today I learned that even if I refuse medial treatment, it can be forced on me.

I am surprised that you didn't know that. We force treatment on people all the time in the Alzheimers wing. Or for those who have specific psychological problems, and if there is any suspicion that you may be suffering from an altered level or consciousness or simply confused and blurry due to a blow to the head, yes, then treatment can be forced on you, because we do not NOT treat people who are not able to think straight and reason for themselves.

That would be the most direct route (A to B). If he took a different one, it would have taken even longer and been even farther. JMO

And if he had walked home to kiss his mother goodnight it would have taken him days. <mod snip> We have no reason to think he was wandering around for hours, and no evidence has indicated he was. Even if such evidence existed, so what? I used to go for long walks of an evening so I could talk to my boyfriends without my giggling little sister following me around the house making rude kissy noises.< mod snip> To me, many of your posts read like drive-by pot-stirring. I hope that isn't your intent, a young person has lost his life here. Moo

Me too. Just 2 weeks ago IN Florida I had a car accident, air bags deployed, FHP did call for the paramedics, I was checked out on the scene, paramedics strongly suggested that I be transported to the ER, but I refused (didn't even have to sign a waiver). Wow, maybe instead of paying the ticket I got for causing an accident, I'll sue the police officer for not arresting me and forcing me to receive medical treatment.

In build a 17 year old in some places is considered an adult. Legally he is not, at least in Florida and most states. So phyically, yes, but mentally no. They have very little life experience to handle themselves because in a normal household the responsibility is on their parent, not them. I saw a very big change with my children and grandchildren around the age of 21. It's as if they suddenly got it. Can't tell you how many time friends and family have said that once their kids reached 21 it was as if the light switch had been turned on in their heads and many apologized to their parents for giving them such a hard time as a teen.

I think it is very possible TM may have jumped on GZ. I think it is also possible GZ grabbed TM in some way and they both went down and a fight started. Ending up on the bottom proves only that the person on the top has the advantage to pull away unless he was pulled down and held. Don't know why GZ would do that other than he may have feared TM might get ahold of his gun and use it on him. Self defense you might say but not if GZ grabbed and pulled TM down with him. That is why I think there is still an ongoing investigation because they now have facts they did not have before. TM could have been ripe for a fight because of his suspension, GZ could have been ripe for a fight because they always get away. Either way only one had the gun, only one is dead. The truth is there and can be pieced together. Let's hope someone does a good job with their investigation. jmo

There was a current school photo. A photo id from 11th grade, current. he looked like a normal kid.

We should probably ignore that one though, he doesn't look quite thuggy enough. Let's go with the mugging for the camera photos instead. As if that somehow solves his murder

That picture has only come out in the last few days. The picture of him at 7 or 8 is the first one that came out.

And if he had walked home to kiss his mother goodnight it would have taken him days. What is your point here? My point has nothing to do with anything other than the media's portrayal of these events. <mod snip> IMO, there's a clear polarization in the media, and that's led to a lot of the... derision we've seen.

That blog specifically sources WFTV at least 3 times.
