That picture has only come out in the last few days. The picture of him at 7 or 8 is the first one that came out.

The pics are all available from the same sources (Facebook/Myspace). No one knows why the media decided to use one over another, and it doesn't matter!

I am wondering where the outrage is for the hundreds of young black people that are murdered everyday and every night. And they are murdered by people of their own race. Why is the outrage here so great? Is it because it was a person of another race which implies to me it is okay for them to kill each other, but not anyone else.

I hate that this loss of life happened, but people need to get real about it and think with their heads instead of being caught up in this mass hysteria. I read a post last night where someone was asking the question where is the outrage when a child is kidnapped, molested and horribly murdered or a wife and mother is kidnapped and brutally murdered. Don't hear much about that on the news do we? Only when it is a hot story. Well maybe that is because there is so much of it there isn't time to cover it all. The next thing we will be dealing with are the lawsuits. People need to address their priorities. jmo

There have been some horrific cases in the past two months, but you have to dig for info on them. It's interesting how people get so wrapped up (people who normally don't follow crime stories) in one case every few years. It's as if their occasional concern gives them (people who normally don't follow crime cases and hence do not comment here) a free pass to ignore all the other horrible crimes that occur every day. JMO, OMO, MOO, etc.

(In case I've been unclear my comment is not directed at any members following this case or commenting here.)

I'd be willing to take that a step further and say he was advised that his self defense claim would be harder to believe with out this documentation.

JMO

The injuries would have been documented by EMS on their run sheets. A summary of injuries might also be included on Zimmerman's treatment refusal form that he *should* have signed.

That blog specifically sources WFTV at least 3 times.

And WGTV just stated that Zimmerman was given a proactive pardon by Obama.

It's pretty easy to attribute something without a credible source.

Are you talking about the Hollister shirt photo? Do we have a link verifying Trayvon's age at the time of that photo? I thought I'd heard he was 15...if it's a different photo you're referring to, I apologize.
:)

I must admit, I'm very bothered by the image the media has used for GZ. When I saw the more recent picture of him in a shirt and tie, smiling and looking slimmer, I was stunned. IMO, they are using that old mug shot (where he looks like a mean, angry 🤬🤬🤬🤬) to paint a false picture. JMO, MOO, OMO, etc.

Um, yes, but the poster asked to see current photos now, that's why I told him about the current photo. And there were all different photos of trayvon that came out. HE had just turned 17, the photos weren't all that old, it's not like he was 30 and they were showing all baby pictures.

So now we see a current photo and he looked like a normal kid.

Why in this case, his photo is a deciding factor in him getting justice is beyond me. I've seen case after case where families post pictures of their murdered or missing child that weren't current.

Maybe we should question why they're now showing picture of GZ in a suit and tie and what looks like a tux? Was he wearing either of those when he gunned down Trayvon? Does it really matter as far as the murder goes? Are they trying to say in those pics that because he's wearing a suit and tie and what looks like a tux, he can't possibly have killed anyone??

JMHO

That blog specifically sources WFTV at least 3 times.

And here is the actual story:

WFTV learned that the first Sanford officer in charge of the scene that Sunday night when Martin was killed was also involved in another controversial case.
In 2010, a Sanford police officer's son punched a man, but he was not arrested. Only after WFTV broke the story and asked questions was Justin Collison arrested.

WFTV learned that the patrol sergeant in charge the night of Collison's attack, Anthony Raimondo, was also the patrol sergeant who initially supervised Martin's shooting scene.
Raimondo has three validated complaints and another one pending.

I'm not sure why it would have been so hard to include this, other than the blog linked to a video that was obviously meant to stir emotions.

<mod snip I think it's safe to say that the average person who is shown a photo of Trayvon, at the age of 17, would not describe him as a young child. They would call him a teenager, an older teen, or a young man.

I'm having a very nice day. <mod snip>

Good grief, my 13-year-old daughter and her friends make their own grills out of gum wrappers, am I too assume that my daughter and her friends are ghouls because they wear them. "Lil Wayne, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, not to mention Justin Bieber, have all been photographed with grills in their mouth. They are a thing that is popular right now and have no bearing whatsoever in this case other then trying to make Trayvon appear like he is a 🤬🤬🤬🤬.

~jmo~

IMO it does have bearing because the media is trying to skew public perception.

Trayvon stopped playing football at the age of 14 (per the USA Today article) yet the media shows mainly those pictures of him and not current pics. What bearing does that have except to portray him as a sweet angel and Zimmerman as a crazed wannabe cop who (I have read on many sites) 'chased' Trayvon down. The pic of Zimmerman is from 2005. Why not a current pic of him? Because the older pics makes him look bad and makes TM look sweet and feeds the racial tension this story is thriving on.

I don't know what happened that night but it is obvious the media and certain people who make their living off inciting tensions want the public perception to be skewed in a certain direction. The family (and I sympathize with them fully), Sharpton, Jackson, et al, want us to imagine a sweet young innocent boy skipping down the lane with Skittles in hand for the brother waiting at home. Maybe that is the real pic, maybe not. Any information contrary to the picture is not allowed. Does it matter if TM had an altercation with a bus driver? Had been suspended from school multiple times? If Zimmerman's past matters then so does TM's if what Zimmerman said happened / happened.

Here is a police report from that night. Zimmerman was given first aid in the rear of the squad care and was taken in to the Sanford police station. Most likely he gave a statement then.

ETA: SORRY! Forgot link to police report http://www.scribd.com/doc/86368480/Trayvon-Martin-Shooting-Initial-Report

My point has nothing to do with anything other than the media's portrayal of these events. <mod snip> IMO, there's a clear polarization in the media, and that's led to a lot of the... derision we've seen.

Thank You The media has been dividing us for way too long, but people don't want to hear that. They are convinced they are thinking for themselves. It's a sad state of affairs but it's true. And yes they started by showing a picture of him when he could have passed for 12, it was absolutely intentional and then show a picture of GZ that looked like a mugshot. iirc the GJ meets on April 10 and this I am sure will be the first case they will look at.

Very good point. But, who gave the media the pictures to begin with? And I think we know why 'media' decided on the one they published originally. jmo

I'm trying really hard to see what your point is here...the truth is, tm went to 711 got iced tea and skittles and was back in the complex and was shot and killed...this is all that matters...are you trying to say that he didn't get skittles and iced tea, are trying to say that the skittles weren't for his brother, are trying to make his parents look bad...what is your point..and does any of this change what happened or who was at fault...NO he could have been out buying weed or whatever and it still does not change ANYTHING

I would like to know if you just believe everything zimmerman has said and completely discount every single thing the family has said...all the way down to the skittles...sigh..

I read several times last night, people parroting Sharpton's remarks yesterday, "well he didn't know Trayvon's past when he shot him". That's not the point - his past brings to light the possibility that Trayvon could well have been up to something, like theft or destroying property, and he could have been on drugs. No, Zimmerman didn't know that but dang, we do - we know that now - why act like we don't? Doesn't matter whether GZ was aware of TM's past, the possibility that TM was acting suspicious is absolutely there. Do we know for a fact he made a racial slur? No. Has Zimmerman shown signs of racism in the past? Not one person has said he was the least bit racist. His good friend is black and speaking up for him.

Does it change the fact that this was a horrible tragedy? No. Should Zimmerman have been arrested? I don't know, probably. Is he evil incarnate? Not from what I've seen... but I doubt it. Should this be a witch hunt. NO.

I am surprised that you didn't know that. We force treatment on people all the time in the Alzheimers wing. Or for those who have specific psychological problems, and if there is any suspicion that you may be suffering from an altered level or consciousness or simply confused and blurry due to a blow to the head, yes, then treatment can be forced on you, because we do not NOT treat people who are not able to think straight and reason for themselves.
So do you think that those situations apply to this case? I see no reason to believe so.

I'm sorry. It was sarcasm in response to unsourced claims. I was demonstrating how easy it is to simply say that a certain news agency said something. My apologies if that was not clear.
