I wasn't aware blogs without sourcing information was now acceptable for citations here. JMO

Here are some MSM of the same thing that add a little bit about who Sergeant Anthony Raimondo refused to arrest. http://www.wftv.com/news/news/sanford-cops-son-arrested-after-2007-shooting/nFCpc/

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —
Eyewitness News found out that Justin Collison, the Sanford police officer's son who came under fire after a YouTube video showed him beating up a homeless man, was arrested in March of 2007 on assault and weapons charges in Volusia County.

Collison faced two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and shooting into a vehicle. Those charges were eventually dropped by the State Attorney's Office.

WFTV learned that the first Sanford officer in charge of the scene that Sunday night when Martin was killed was also involved in another controversial case.

In 2010, a Sanford police officer's son punched a man, but he was not arrested. Only after WFTV broke the story and asked questions was Justin Collison arrested.

WFTV learned that the patrol sergeant in charge the night of Collison's attack, Anthony Raimondo, was also the patrol sergeant who initially supervised Martin's shooting scene.

Raimondo has three validated complaints and another one pending.

I meant a source linked in that article. I posted the same thing above, which doesn't seem to draw nearly the same conclusions that the original poster did.

I don't even know what your point is. The original poster linked to a blog, you had a problem with there being no sourcing. The blog uses one source and makes that clear.

The poster here linked to the blog and clearly stated his own opinion before doing so.

This report says he was treated at the scene by SFD and then transported by SPD.

So, he was treated.

They can treat a broken nose at the scene of a crime?

mod question: why are posters using snarky one liners at the end of their posts? I am really beside myself seeing these personal attacks! Enough already!

I must admit, I'm very bothered by the image the media has used for GZ. When I saw the more recent picture of him in a shirt and tie, smiling and looking slimmer, I was stunned. IMO, they are using that old mug shot (where he looks like a mean, angry 🤬🤬🤬🤬) to paint a false picture. JMO, MOO, OMO, etc.

I wonder if it has anything to do with availability of photos, both the literal access to the photos, and the legal rights to them. I'd think the mug shot one would be the one they had first, so that is why it was shown first?

There have been some horrific cases in the past two months, but you have to dig for info on them. It's interesting how people get so wrapped up (people who normally don't follow crime stories) in one case every few years. It's as if their occasional concern gives them (people who normally don't follow crime cases and hence do not comment here) a free pass to ignore all the other horrible crimes that occur every day. JMO, OMO, MOO, etc.

(In case I've been unclear my comment is not directed at any members following this case or commenting here.)

well I for one, am not outraged because tm is black and zimmerman is white/hispanic whatever, i really don't care,, i'm outraged because a young man is dead and i don't believe that the matter was looked at fully...and honestly i haven't seen any posts on this board by people like me who think this needs to be investigated that have been throwing around any race card...I have however seen others do it...this comparison of black on black crime is very bothersome to me...I feel like i am being called a racist almost because i want to know the truth about what happened here in this situation

And earlier I used another posters own link that had the same story in it.

Reports have also emerged that the patrol sergeant, Anthony Raimondo, in charge of the scene the night of Martin's shooting, was involved in another controversial case.

Justin Collinson, the son of a police officer, attacked a homeless man in 2010, but was not immediately arrested, even when a video emerged, according to WFTV. The station reported that Raimondo was the officer in charge the night of the attack.

When contacted by the Guardian about this report, the Sanford police department were unavailable for comment.

I don't know. I'm just telling y'all what the report says.
It says he was treated by SFD and then released to SPD and transported.

BBM.

IMO, a 17-year old is not a young child. He is a young man. Not an adult but not a child either.

That's another of my problems with these stories. If the family considers him a *child*, then why, if he went out for a ten minute walk to get snacks, didn't someone go out looking for him when it got to be midnight? If my *child* left my home before 7:00 pm., to go on a short errand, and they weren't home by 10:00 pm., I'd be out in my car, retracing their route, visit the convenience store to see if they'd made it there, etc. If the family considered TM a *child*, why didn't they go looking for their child?

Of course he's a 'young man' and not a *child*, so why keep referring to him as a 'child' and a 'little boy' as some of the news sources and witnesses have? I don't consider a 6'3" 160 pound kid a *child* or *little boy*. But even so, if he was my kid, I'd still be looking for him when he didn't return by midnight. And I'd never have thought of calling the cops to see if he'd been arrested unless I had a suspicion he might be in trouble due to prior experiences. I'd be calling all the hospitals to see if anyone matching my kids description might have been brought in. Thinking maybe he got hit by a car on his 10 minute walk along a very busy road. JMO

I have been very vocal that I believe GZ should be arrested and tried for the wrongful death of TM or at the very least this situation be fully investigated by someone other than SPD which I feel does not currently have the type of relationship with the citizenry that instills trust.

I do feel that the pics being used of both parties could have been more current and accurate. I think the original pics released of TM were indeed selected to illustrate him at his most youthful and innocent appearance. Conversely I think the pic first used by the media showed GZ in a poor light. I think it may be because the media had no access to another more flattering pic because GZ dropped out of sight and was incommunicado.

Bottom line, there are lots of agendas at play here, none of which change mine.

I want the stand your ground law in Florida looked at hard and changes made to it, tightening it up so that it can be applied in very specific circs and not all willy nilly as it appears is happening now. I want a thorough investigation into the events that led to the shooting of this young man and if warranted, I want charges pursued.

I'm not entirely sure how asking for evidence of something that's been widely claimed is unacceptable or irrelevant. I believe the family is the one that put this information out there, not the police. This is being widely reported as fact, and is certainly being used in an attempt to gain an emotional foothold in this case. The public is able to sympathize much more for someone walking back from the store after just picking up candy for his brother (as he has been continually characterized in the media). It all sounds contrived to me, and if it is, why? Why would the media cling on to this if not for the emotional appeal itself? Keep in mind that this is something that has been used to portray Martin in a certain light over and over again, but I haven't really seen any facts that support this premise.

It sounds contrived because no one ever goes to a convenience store for a drink and a snack? No one who is making a trip to the store ever picks anything up for someone else? Hey, I'm going out for tea, you want anything? Never a conversation that's ever taken place, ever in history? Why do convenience stores exist? That one doesn't even seem to have a gas pump. He would be no less sympathetic if the tea and skittles were both for his own consumption.moo

I am wondering where the outrage is for the hundreds of young black people that are murdered everyday and every night. And they are murdered by people of their own race. Why is the outrage here so great? Is it because it was a person of another race which implies to me it is okay for them to kill each other, but not anyone else.

I hate that this loss of life happened, but people need to get real about it and think with their heads instead of being caught up in this mass hysteria. I read a post last night where someone was asking the question where is the outrage when a child is kidnapped, molested and horribly murdered or a wife and mother is kidnapped and brutally murdered. Don't hear much about that on the news do we? Only when it is a hot story. Well maybe that is because there is so much of it there isn't time to cover it all. The next thing we will be dealing with are the lawsuits. People need to address their priorities. jmo

The outrage to me is the parents couldn't get answers from the SPD and had to hold a press conference in an attempt to do so.

The circumstances seem contrived, not that he went to the store to get some candy. I've never claimed that. I'm saying that two stories are not meshing, and I'm not sure why that is.

I do not understand why Zimmerman was allowed to carry a gun when he had resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer and his girlfriend.

  • #218
So do you think that those situations apply to this case? I see no reason to believe so.

How many different links do you want to the symptoms of a head injury? I will provide them if you like, here is one http://www.drugs.com/cg/minor-head-injury.html

•Trouble thinking, remembering, or concentrating.

LE and the EMT KNEW that Zimmerman was claiming a head injury, and with a head injury even a "Minor head injury" which is the site I gave you, these and other things are the common symptoms

So what you are saying is that Zimmerman actually did have his head slammed into the pavement, and there was a laceration on his scalp to prove it, and the EMT who would know very well, that one of the symptoms of a head injury is confusion , trouble thinking and remembering, which also includes trouble making rational decisions, simply took his word for it that he did not want to go to the hospital and put his life in danger

Maybe that's how they do it in Florida, but here if there is any doubt, such as the common symptoms of your injury causing you to make a decision that is not in your best interest, then you would be taken to hospital.

BBM - It’s a smear campaign against the victim, Trayvon Martin. Disgusting. Some people are behaving like Trayvon deserved to be shot. It’s crazy.

jmo

I have to disagree that anyone feels Trayvon deserved to be shot! The way I see it is many people want to believe Zimmerman chased down a young innocent lad and he's getting away with it.

Whatever Zimmerman was thinking he was in the wrong for following Trayvon. Zimmerman was suspicious but he should have stayed in his car. He made the 911 call, he should have waited and none of this would have happened. I do believe that GZ was watching TM, TM ditched GZ, that GZ went on foot trying to find TM, that TM came up behind GZ and knocked him to the ground, that a scuffle ensued, that GZ then shot TM. A tragedy that should not have happened.

Why refuse it on the night of the incident but then turn around and go in the next day?

One of my daughters was in a serious accident, broadsided by someone who ran a red light, totaled her car. When the EMT's came, she refused to go with them, had to sign a waver. It wasn't till the next day that her injuries became extremely painful and she went to the hospital. Sometimes when we incur a trauma, the extent of it isn't apparent until hours later IMO.
