Good grief, my 13-year-old daughter and her friends make their own grills out of gum wrappers, am I too assume that my daughter and her friends are ghouls because they wear them. "Lil Wayne, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, not to mention Justin Bieber, have all been photographed with grills in their mouth. They are a thing that is popular right now and have no bearing whatsoever in this case other then trying to make Trayvon appear like he is a 🤬🤬🤬🤬.

~jmo~

I agree with you that wearing that stuff doesn't make one a 🤬🤬🤬🤬. My issue would come with the media, who initially depicted pictures of a young, clean cut boy. It's not accurate reporting and to some it takes on the form of trying to steer the public toward a certain view of an individual.

I say, put the most current pics of the victim (and the alleged) and let the public decide for themselves.

Whereas if there is never an arrest, none of anything will be released and Trayvons parents will not get any answers of any kind, since no arrest and charge means that SPD can just bury it like they were planning on doing anyway like GZ's friend said, "He thought it would just blow over" before the media exposure. They admit that SPD's investiagtion was all but concluded and they were done....sorta like

"yeah, we know your child was killed, but sorry no arrest, since we didn't collect enough evidence , so no answers for you....."

I do not blame these parents for wanting answers, evidence and proof before accepting that their child caused his own death, which is what SPD is trying to tell them.

What do you mean "since we didn't collect enough evidence"?

Maybe the evidence just doesn't point to murder. Maybe it was self defense.

Like I said, we don't know what LE has. And from what I've read, they say the evidence supports what Zimmerman said happened.

I am sure that many of the questions about where this detail and that detail originally came from could be found in the first couple of threads here.

If someone is feeling passionate enough to find the answers to their questions, re-reading those threads might be a good place to start.

Nope, I think now we will get some answers even if they are not answers that we particularly like, (depending on who you are and what you are most upset about) but NOW we will get some answers, I don't think SPD ever intended to have to explain themselves or anything else, they just wanted it to go away...IMO JMHO and stuff
They've said from the beginning they welcome the DOJ to take a look around. JMO

Everybody - you need to calm down. You need to breathe. This thread has had so many alerts a team of mods cannot keep up.

We understand it is a hot topic and everyone feels passionately about their side of the fence.

When comparing this case to others - try to be sure you are comparing apples to apples. The major complaint in this case, that has caused it to be a case of national importance, is the fact that no one was arrested for the shooting. Comparing it to cases where the perp was arrested is comparing apples to oranges. Those cases don't make national news because LE did their jobs, investigated and arrested someone.

Also, comparing it to cases where there was a trial is comparing apples to oranges - there has not even been an arrest here, so it does not compare to a case that was decided by a jury.

Please try to post responsibly. This is an important discussion, for the entire country. Just pulling things out of thin air, spouting off to fan the flames, and linking to information, pictures, etc. that are clearly not of the parties in this case is just plain inflammatory - we don't need that. This case is emotional enough without looking for ways to make it even more sensational.

Breathe, think about what you are saying and posting. Be sure it is pertinent, linkable if it is not your opinion, and said respectfully. Everybody gets a voice, as long as they post their voice responsibly.

Thank you,

Salem

If he is not charged, or charged and acquitted, then those screaming "arrest Zimmerman" should understand that Zimmerman was not to blame.

Them bringing in new people shows that fresh eyes looked at the evidence and also found no blame.

That's my point.

They want to make sure the public knows all the t's were crossed and I's dotted.

Because we know that didn't happen with the SPD.

Absolutely Isabelle. I've been in the medical field for 30+years. There is absolutely no way that SPD is going to assume responsibility if they took Zimmerman to the jail for questioning without having him thoroughly evaluated, probably including but not limited to a CT scan of the head. There's just no way in heck that would happen. I'm sure Sensei would agree with me 100%. If they took him straight in for questioning without an evaluation and if he seized or whatever, then they would be held accountable for that. No way would they open themselves up to a potential lawsuit like that. No way, no how, it ain't gonna happen.

~jmo~

Agree 100 percent and more, with a blow to the head severe enough to gash the scalp, seizure is a very real possibility, so is concussion, ruptured optic nerve causing blindness, cou and contra cou injuries can present in various ways and sometimes without warning, altered level of consciousness, and number of things and SPD would have been responsible for anything that happened, even if GZ signed a waiver, BECAUSE he signed that waiver while he had a head injury, just like you can't sign a consent form to treatment or surgery if you have had pain medication.....

BBM.

IMO, a 17-year old is not a young child. He is a young man. Not an adult but not a child either.

I'm sorry but my oldest is 21 years old and she's always going to be little in my eyes. When she turns 50 if I am still alive, she will still be little to me. I'm sure that most parents feel the exact same way.

I'm not entirely sure how asking for evidence of something that's been widely claimed is unacceptable or irrelevant. I believe the family is the one that put this information out there, not the police. This is being widely reported as fact, and is certainly being used in an attempt to gain an emotional foothold in this case. The public is able to sympathize much more for someone walking back from the store after just picking up candy for his brother (as he has been continually characterized in the media). It all sounds contrived to me, and if it is, why? Why would the media cling on to this if not for the emotional appeal itself? Keep in mind that this is something that has been used to portray Martin in a certain light over and over again, but I haven't really seen any facts that support this premise.

What TM was doing that night and where he was coming from are part of the investigation. I think the issue here was all TM had in his pocket was an ice tea and a bag of Skittles and not a gun. That is what the media is clinging to. That is what most people are upset about. That was not a screw driver in his pocket it was an ice tea. It wasn't a mask inside his pocket it was a bag of candy. It wasn't a knife he had in his hand it was his cell phone. GZ painted a picture for LE of a punk, an F***en goon looking at peoples homes, suspicious behavior and it appears all TM was doing was walking home. We don't even have proof he was running from GZ only GZ saying so and the TM's gf saying he was walking fast to get away. GZ painted the picture as he has done in the past to innocent people walking by his home.

How many people a year rent homes in Florida to vacation while they visit the parks? Hundreds of thousands. Unless this issue is resolved that industry may stand to lose business big time. No one is going to feel safe. My daughter had made plans to rent a home for vacation down there and now has cancelled those plans. This scares a lot of people that someone has the right to shoot you and claim self defense. There are a lot of questions about what happened but the family was not involved in this shooting. jmo

Just wondering if the City would pay the emergency room bill for Zimmerman. jmo

IF Zimmerman was actually a victim as some have tried to paint him out to be, there is victim's compensation that may cover something like that. Many police departments have victims advocates that could help with that.

And, a prudent LE would have taken GZ into custody forcing a medical evaluation, if he refused. Then he would have no choice. I've been in nursing 26 years and sometimes people just don't know the potential danger they face from what seems to be a minor injury to them and they cannot be held responsible for their own safety.

Sorry Isabelle. I didn't realize you were a nurse so I'm sure my post comes off sounding pretty silly to you. I do apologize.

Yeah, really, like they are highly likely to publicly say anything else

That kinda makes me giggle

Well, I learn new things all the time. Today I learned that even if I refuse medial treatment, it can be forced on me.

Would it have changed anything with respect to Trayvon's character if we didn't constantly hear that he was found with skittles and tea, allegedly for his brother?

If not, I'm not sure why it is relevant to begin with. It's nothing but persuasive tactics being used by the media.

Why refuse it on the night of the incident but then turn around and go in the next day?

  • #156
Thank you, I am glad to know that I do occasionally remember stuff...

So basically they will not be required to release anything or give any answers as long as they don't arrest anyone and there are no charges, but as soon as someone is arrested and charged, it all becomes public record

Sounds like a reason to stall if you have something you don't want released IMO JMHO and stuff

BBM.. My thoughts exactly....JMHO

I don't understand why you think anyone is being played...if it is the truth, that he went to 711 and got skittles and iced tea and was coming back home than thats that....i don't think anyone is disputing this...who cares who the skittles are for...bottom line...he didn't do anything wrong...he was on his way home...no one disputes this...zimmerman thought he looked suspicious no one disputes this...why does it bother you so much that people know this information, and that is does matter...he was unarmed, he wasn't doing anything wrong...zimmerman made a mistake,, i think he know's that now too..it is what it is....now we need to focus on what happened with the altercation..and stop nitpicking about who looks like what and what trays parents did after,, it doesn't matter...all that matters is finding out the truth about the altercation...jmo and all that jazz

BBM - It’s a smear campaign against the victim, Trayvon Martin. Disgusting. Some people are behaving like Trayvon deserved to be shot. It’s crazy.

Because a hospital costs ten times what his doctor would?

Like I said, we don't know what LE has. And from what I've read, they say the evidence supports what Zimmerman said happened.

It is undisputed that they did not test GZ for drugs and alcohol, he was not treated by medical personnel except in the back of the squad car, there is dispute over whether or not GZ's clothes were taken for examination, they did not canvass the neighborhood to find out if Trayvon lived or was staying there, and we have a statment from the Girlfriend who was on the phone with him and her parents that they called SPD to tell them that she was on the phone with him during the incident and they NEVER interviewed her or even called them back.

I don't believe DOJ or a Special Prosecutor would have been appointed if SPD had all their ducks in a row, the investigation complete and had information and answers that would prove their assertions...IMO JMHO and stuff
