He had a permit to carry a gun
We don't know if GZ saw TM trying to break into a house, etc. just speculation.
maybe because he had to because GZ was getting attacked by TM who at that point clearly had the upper hand.

< mod snip >
Don't you think if GZ saw TM trying to break into a house that would have come out by now?

Kind of O/T but when my Mother-n-law visited here 25 years ago she said all the 'druggies'
wear black T-shirts with jeans. Her son walked in the door. (Big ole swedish man, blue eyed guy) Wearing a black T with a pair of worn jeans. I winked at her. She smiled. And said she was wrong. GZ should have backed off this kid. Let the authorities do the investigation to see if there had been a crime. But no, Mr. I am the neighborhood Hero had to take matters into his own hands. He killed Trayvon. He killed Trayvon. Fact.
I understand some think it was self defense. But there would never have been a need for self defense if GZ would have simply waited for the help he called. BBM :(

Instead GZ escalated the situation by following a kid who by all accounts was doing no wrong. This belongs in GZ's lap for good reason. JMO MOO IMO JMO MOO IMO MOO

I don't think anyone - if there was anyone - meeting up with him on that drizzly unpleasant evening was planning to go get skittles also. I don't know what kind of activity turned up on Trayvon's phone. I guess it will come out in the investigation.

Having teenage boys, and some brushes with marijuana, I can tell you that when a boy uses marijuana enough to own his own - that he brings to school - they don't just stop using within a week of that. If they leave in the unpleasant drizzle to go out for an undetermined amount of time (and the family covers up for it) and someone who is alert believes they've behaving suspiciously - they are. Sorry I'm knowledgeable about this, but being older and wiser, I always firmly believed that Trayvon didn't leave that condo to go to skittles and tea, although he did that also.

He did have $22 with him. Much more than he needed for skittles and tea.

So, now the amount of $$ he has in his pocket means he was up to no good?

Except it's clear that he's left his vehicle before the dispatcher asks if he's following Martin.

The other posted asked for an official account, and it doesn't get any more official than that (besides an actual police report :)). There are other links if you search 'Zimmerman followed Trayvon' on Google. Perhaps another article will word it differently, but it is clear that Zimmerman followed Trayvon and never stopped his pursuit.

Wait, hold up

Anyone got CNN on right now? The guy they were just talking to - one of their reporters in Sanford.

He starting talking about the ME's office, funeral home, etc. said they reached out. Then, I THINK I HEARD him say that the funeral home told them there was an autopsy performed and as far as the bullet wound - they couldn't discern the entry or exit points?

WTH did he say? Really? So, IF Trayvon was shot in the back and exited through the chest - the ME couldn't discern if it went through the chest out the back or through the back and out the chest? Huh?

Did anyone else just catch that?

Some of the insinuations being made today are downright ugly...and not based on any fact at all.

If nobody can tell you then why continue to observe the case?

It is true that we all read that 8 brake ins were happening in the community
and it was said that it happened by black people.
I AM OF MIXED FAMILY so do not jump on me.
but if I saw some kid I had never seen before in the rain, just walking and
walking I would consider keeping an eye out.
SO NO IT IS NOT A RACIAL case at all.

:moo:

GZ was not unreasonable to call LE, he was not unreasonable to "Keep an eye " on a stranger in his neighborhood....he was ureasonable to get out of his vehicle to follow this stranger, he was unreasonable to not wait for LE, and ultimately he was not making the best decision one could make to do those things while carrying a loaded gun in his waistband.

GZ is the one who made those decisions and if wanting him to prove that his use of deadly force was appropriate and unavoidable is considered hanging himout to dry or whatever, then I guess that I am in fact doing that.

That is one of the issues that has me on this board

There is also the issue of why SPD could not be bothered to dot their I's and cross their T's in the case of a teen who was unarmed shot dead....that is the biggest cluster F*** I have ever seen for an investigation, they now have things so FUBAR that it may never be straightened out, and only because they thought they already had the answers, that a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 was in the wrong place at the wrong time and they just didn't want to spend any more time over it.

SYG is a peripheral issue as well as a host of others.

So yes, there are issues that are not racial at all, and issues that are entirely racial all combined in this one horrific incident.

It doesn't get any less official than conjecture, either. To say that speculation is "official" because a news reporter wrote it doesn't mean anything. It hasn't been contained in any credible report so far, and the description that article gave clearly differs from what one can tell with their own ears.

It was Savage and the funeral home told them because of the autopsy the funeral home could not tell entry or exit wound. It would have meant nothing anyway, because the funeral home did not do the autopsy.

It appears she said "eventually he WOULD run" but not did start to run. So it could be taken either way. We know he was not running when confronted by GZ because I don't think GZ could have outrun him. jmo

"Would" is not "should" or "could". "Would" leads to believe that he did run.

"Leaks from the police report detail Zimmerman telling police he was heading back to his truck when Martin knocked him down with a punch to his nose, jumped on him, repeatedly banged his head on the ground, then tried to grab Zimmerman's gun.

In a struggle for Zimmerman's gun, the watchman shot the teenager, Zimmerman told police."

What about this part of the article? Is this "official" as well?

Really nice Funeral Home that would talk to a CNN reporter about someones childs body.

I really think we can abandon the thought that some had that he had used that term. Considering:

1. That language is COMPLETELY out of character for the rest of his discussion with the dispatcher. There are no other derogatory or inflammatory remarks in the tape about Trayvon, or use of the F word. I don't think young hispanic men use the term coon. Ever.

2. No one uses that term anymore. There are racial slurs that can be used by those who act like that, but coon isn't one of them.

3. It's too grainy for anyone to agree that's what was said. Although MSM put their best effort into proving it, they sadly had to keep saying that no concensus could be reached.

You don't live in Florida, do you? You are 100% mistaken that Hispanic people do not use that word and you are 100% mistaken that people don't use that term any more. I live here and I can tell you that that word is still a widely used word here.

Ok - so does that mean there was both an entry and exit wound? Why would he say it that way if there wasn't?

Man, I'm like a hungry dog sniffing the entire kitchen floor just looking for a crumb!!!! lol

We need more info. Even if its just a weedle bit KWIM?
