How often are prisoners allowed to use the phone.? Wanna bet first thing he did when he was allowed to use the phone was check to see how much money had been added to that paypal account since he had last checked...JMHO

Remember how jailhouse calls were recorded/released in discovery in the Anthony case? I would think O'Mara would advise his client not to be making phone calls at all from the jail (especially since they didn't expect him to be there very long). Whether Zimmerman would heed such advice, I don't know.

I was surprised, but it didn't sound like mere rumor to me, which is why I promptly checked it out. JMO

BBM So is that part of the quote, but she didn't say what she meant there either, did she?

Two part question and Sybrina answers it in two parts in the order it was asked. First she answers the part of what would you tell him.

Ann Curry: Tracy and Sybrina, either of you can take this question:

If you were to come face to face with George Zimmerman, what do you want to tell him? What do you want to ask him?

Sybrina: Um, one of the things that I still believe in, a person should apologize when they're really, when they're actually remorseful for what they've done. Um, I believe that it was a(n) accident, I believe that uh, it just got out of control, and he couldn't turn the clock back.

The she answers the part what would you ask him.

Um, I would ask him: Did he know that that was a minor? That that was a teenager, and that he did not have a weapon?

Um, I would ask him, that I understand that his family is hurting, but think about our family, that lost our teenage son; I mean it's just very difficult to live with day in and day out. Um, I'm sure that his parents can pick up the phone and call him, but we can't pick up the phone and call Trayvon any more.

She never claimed she was asking a question in that part did she?

There is no question in this statement. That is a fact.

Sybrina: Um, one of the things that I still believe in, a person should apologize when they're really, when they're actually remorseful for what they've done. Um, I believe that it was a(n) accident, I believe that uh, it just got out of control, and he couldn't turn the clock back.
Okay.

I wonder if Mark G. ever tried to contact Laci's parents attorney for anything other than setting up a deposition?

Or if Johnnie Cochran ever tried to get into contact with Nicole or Ron's parents attorney for anything other than setting up a deposition?

I don't understand why he feels it important to have any kind of contact with the victims family in this case unless it has to do with setting up court appointed depositions? He is representing the man who killed their son? What in the world could Mr. O'Mara have to say to their attorney or to them?

Mr. O'Mara's job is to have a working relationship with the SA to get this case moving in the right direction. It is the SA's job to keep Trayvon's parents and their lawyer up-to-date on what is going on... at least as much as they can tell them. It's not Mr. O'Mara's job.

That is why I question his motives. I don't think I've ever heard of an attorney for the defendant contacting the lawyer of the victims family for anything other than setting up a deposition?

I can guarantee you that Sharon Rocha would have put Mark Geragos firmly in his place very quickly if he tried to contact her.

JMO the fact that GZ does not dispute that his gun killed TM would be one of the biggest contrasts with the cases you cited. He doesn't deny killing TM, and is claiming self-defense. Not the same IMO.

What does that have to do with contacting the parents of the victim?

Your impression is mistaken IMO. The OP's phrase "what was going on in her life" does not refer to anything wrong, horribly or otherwise. Just stuff that does not match Crump's scenario and timeline; nothing that would reflect poorly on the GF. JMO

And the information could not possibly have resulted from O'M's slip, as it was all online well before the bond hearing. JMO

No. But now a whole lot more people can seek it out who may never have bothered to 'sleuth' someone without a name.

Unlike the accused perps in the cases cited, GZ was in custody from the git-go and has never denied that he killed TM. OP presented those cases to point out that the perps in those cases wouldn't have contacted the parents. Apples, oranges IMO.

Folks, we're trying to set up some parameters for the discussion of the girlfriend as far as the TIMELINE of events. Please hold off on any discussion of it until we get those parameters in place. There will be no sleuthing of the girlfriend, but we are interested in the timeline of her phone call with Trayvon.

Thank you and please be patient.

Attorneys charge by the hour, not the minute.

IANAL but in my experience they do break it down to at least the quarter-hour/15 minute increment. And whatever is charged by the hour can at least theoretically be broken down to what's charged by the minute, or even second.

But, but, but...

:waitasec: I thought it was prevailing theory that the State was oh-so-clever in not revealing all of their cards to O'M at the bond hearing... JMO

He offered up the bare bones. How it plays out is a whole other story, IMO. I don't understand the trashing of the 'oh-so-clever' state. What have they done to offend?

Please know I did not do the math when I asked the question.. I do know how to multiply and divide..JMHO

So sorry. Did not mean to sound snarky:blushing:

How is it not the same? George Zimmerman has been charged in the murder of their son? Not manslaughter. Not Negligent Homicide. But Murder. He's claiming self-defense, but that is not what the SA is claiming. They are claiming murder. Doesn't matter if he admits to shooting Trayvon in an act of self defense, what matters is that he has been charged with Trayvon's murder.

Trayvon's parents, as it stands, are the parents of a murder victim. What does Mr. O'Mara have to say to them or their attorney? Nothing! He needs to worry about his client... not his clients victims family.
