2 Children Killed on Way to Visit Injured GI Father- Oldest on Life Support

How very heartbreaking for their family. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Tyler sounds like he is a soldier like his father and he has a strong will. He wants to see his dad. :'(

This is just awful all the way around. Did they say anything about the mothers condition?

I read somewhere that she was bruised from the accident. I can't imagine what these parents are going through.

Oh my goodness, what a sad article to read while drinking my coffee. I can't even begin to imagine such a loss. Prayers and thoughts to the family and friends. I pray this little boy beats the odds. This family could use some hope and be given a miracle w/ his recovery.

No I do not know how people get through something like this.
I pray that God touches tyler and heals him whole. I pray the
father is healed. I pray the Mother can go on.
Oh Dear God may you hand be on this family. We ask it in your Name.

Some days, I wonder how people make it through things like this:

A U.S. solider hospitalized for life-threatening injuries suffered in Iraq received another devastating blow when he learned that two of his children who were on their way to visit him died in a car crash.

The El Paso Times reported Monday that Army Spc. John Austin Johnson was waiting for his wife and three children at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, when he received the news.

The mother, Lisa Johnson, was driving an SUV when a strong gust of wind overturned the vehicle, causing it to roll four times, killing Logan, 2, and Ashley, 5. Tyler Johnson, 9, the couple's oldest son, suffered massive head injuries and remains on life support at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, the Times reported....

This is just heartbreaking. Prayers for all.

I agree, this is so heartbreaking.

God bless and keep the mother and heal the father...and if possible the little boy.

My gawd how much can one family suffer?
Prayers to this family. I hope they have a close knit of people who support them emotionally through this.

Ok thanks! I can't imagine what they are going through either...other then a horrible nightmare.

Prayers for strength for Lisa. I don't know how a mom/wife handles this. My heart is aching for them. :(

OH MY GOSH!! And here I was thinking about how rough my life is right now. I don't think I could handle this, not even a fraction of this.

An update on help for the family:

A generous donation will be made today to the wounded soldier whose children died in a vehicle accident on the way to see him in a Texas hospital.
Several Texas corporations and PGA Tour charities will issue the donation to Operation Homefront to help the family of Army Spc. John Austin Johnson.
The money will be used to purchase a vehicle and help settle bankruptcy costs brought on by injuries Johnson incurred from an improvised explosive device in Iraq.

Awww, how nice of them to help this family. My heart just aches for the mother and the father. Especially for her and the loss of her children also because she is now going to deal with two instead of one person in her immediate family with brain injuries.

I hope people will realize she is going to need help financially and physically for many years to come. I pray people will still give as much as possible to alleviate the torture this family will be living in. Bless their hearts. (I knew Tyler was a fighter! He certainly is proving to be exactly that!)

Sadly, sweet Tyler has died :( :

A wounded Iraq veteran and his wife have lost a third child from injuries the boy suffered in a car accident on the way to visit his father in the hospital.
Three weeks after his siblings died in an Oct. 13 accident on the gusty West Texas plains, 9-year-old Tyler Johnson died Saturday at Children's Medical Center Dallas...

The Johnsons were too upset to talk publicly, but Schmidt said they're coping the best they can.
"I think the good thing is they knew it (Tyler's death) was coming," Schmidt said. "They had time to prepare for it this time."...

...."Right now, they've kind of had a mission, so to speak going to hospital every day, checking on their son, burying two others," he said. "When this calms down, they're going to realize it's just them two."

The older children were not in seatbelts????????

I am not going to attack an obvious victim but not in seatbelts??

No, they were not. :(

Such a sad story- especially if you consider it may have been prevented.

Rest in Peace, Tyler

Oh, I can't believe it. EVERYONE knows you should put children in seatbelts in a car. What about the baby? Was he in a carseat and was it hooked in? It doesn't sound like it.

I am so sorry Tyler died, but with his injuries it almost sounds like a blessing. Massive brain damage and on life support isn't great odds to live a long, healthy life.
