If the items were in the (double Bag of plastic) then they were not in the elements. Right?
News stories have indeed mentioned that the skull fell out of a "sealed bag." However, commen sense tells us the bag, while it may have been sealed, was not intact; the skull could not have fallen out of a sealed, intact bag. And, without getting too gross, IF the book were in the bag with the body, then it was exposed to all kinds of decompostion liquids......
Plus, if the book were in the bag, I don't think we'd have a photo of it lying on the ground, sans bag.
I don't see how we can infer that the book is in perfect condition from that photo- at all. We can barely even make out what is on the cover. I think it is very possible/probable that the cover of the book wasn't torn or damaged in standing water.
I've been in lots of hurricanes, too, although I haven't lost personal possesions in any since Hurricane Betsy. That time, family photos were still hanging on the walls----but they were blank, the pics had washed off-----and the walls were two blocks from where they'd been before. Not one of my childhood books survived. They'd all been submerged, the cardboard covers were swollen and ragged, the pages were stuck together, entire books were black with mildew.
They weren't in pieces, I'll give you that! But they didn't have anything near a 90% angle edge like we see in the photo.
In the area we are discussing, water was covering at least deep enough to submerge a four wheeler for several weeks. Then, when the water subsided, it was back to exposure to heat and humidity, animals and all the ramifications of an outdoor swampy environment......It's possible that this book escaped without mildew, mold, swelling, etc. But it's not probable.
i thought the same thing, what if the book was in the trash bag? whatwould it look like. is that how they found the book. if they find that book in the Anthony house. what does that mean? :waitasec:
If it were in the trash bag, I bet we wouldn't even know about it. Look how long it took us to find out there WERE clothes with the bones!!
If they find a copy of the book at the Anthony home, then the one in the woods probably means nothing. BUT if "the same" book were spotted in the home during an early search, and now it's in the woods, then it means someone knew where the little body was and perhaps took a little love offering......much like you might see a kite left on a child's grave. Then we'd have to know WHO knew, WHEN they knew, etc.
Cindy would have had to do some serious looking to find a duplicate of that book. It's out of print. A few of us looked for it recently and found one or two used copies but that was it.
The whole series is out of print. I found several copies available at Alibris (sp) books----one for EIGHTY BUCKS!!!
