wonder if he can do it onlineBolded by me, Chezhire.
Though I haven't read part (f), as mentioned above in 3.112 subsection (g)(2), which may provide JBaez with a basis for being co-counsel, I'd be interested in knowing whether JBaez has met the criteria contained in subsection (g)(2)(E) - anyone other than me wonder if JBaez has attended 12 hours of CLE devoted to defense of capital cases...
Just read the updates to today's news section. So . . . . the new qualified attorney is from out of state and JB and company have created their own exception to the statute requiring that he or she immediately enter an appearance -- they need to protect the lawyer. Can anyone direct me to that part of the law?????

What does the attorney need to be protected from??
Though he very well may, he was previously enrolled as counsel and, therefore, he is bound by the attorney-client privilege.*Very* interesting!
I wonder if Terry has some concerns about KC's defense.
Very respectfully snipped...did you notice that "JAB" said he was glad that Kathi brought the Sentinel article up, after she questioned him on it ? YEAH RIGHT !Timeline Speculation by me...
Sunday/Monday:
Orlando Sentinel publishes a 2-part expose' on Baez's background. All relevant in regards to his ability and ethics to be involved in this case. It does not make him look good at all.
Late Monday:
Baez, knowing the expose' will get tons of coverage and make lots of people question his abilities, files the COV motion, which has been sitting on his desk for some time already, ready to go. He hopes this will deflect attention away from his expose'. Even though it's MONTHS too early to be filing this motion (as he was told by Judge S and SA in the last hearing).
Tuesday:
Baez does some depos, and also holds some impromptu pressers to talk about the COV and depos and deflect attention away from the Sentinel article (Although Kathi B. DOES get in a Sentinel question... heh)
Thanks, Chezire. JB doesn't qualify under part F as that part states what is required to be lead counsel in a DP case. I wonder though, if he meets the other requirements under the subsection (g)(2) besides (g)(2)(E). Does he have the trial experience?Bolded by me, Chezhire.

What does the attorney need to be protected from??
IDK what FL's rules are re: online CLE, but LA only allows a couple of online hours per calendar year, and our rules are based upon the ABA model rules, so...I rather doubt he can complete 12 that way. If he's a few shy, then possibly...wonder if he can do it online
I wasn't sure where to ask this. I just read in current newa that because JB is not qualified as a DP lawyer that the depos he has been conducting are not valid and can be repeated by the new DP lawyer? I'm far from knowledgable in this arena and need help for this explanation. Thanks

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said, most likely, the new lawyer is not local.
"It seems that the defense loves drama and this is just another example of the drama that this defense seems to play out," Sheaffer said. "The defense appears to be very unstable."
Baez's publicist said they're trying to protect the new attorney's identity because they don't want him to be attacked by the media.
"It's not a staged production. Again, let's not lose sight of what all of this is about, which is defending Casey Anthony on the charges of murder," Sheaffer said.
I'd say the defense has had enough time to file this and I hope the judge acts quickly and enforces these rules now, before any additional defense motions are filed.[/B]

BeanE,
I was citing the same source reported above by clockwatcher. The lawyer needs to be protected from the media, it seems.
Very Odd. I was just looking through some older news and found this quote from a story published April 14, 2008 that ClickOrlando had up on their site.
Here goes:
"There are currently eight known attorneys on the Anthony defense team, and three are death-penalty qualified, Local 6 News reported. Also, three other attorneys working behind the scenes for the defense are also death-penalty qualified, sources told Local 6 News."
You can read the entire article here: http://www.clickorlando.com/news/19174406/detail.html
So who are these 8 attorney's and which 3 are death-penalty qualified? Is this just careless reporting or does JAB really have 8 attorney's working with him and 3 who are death qualified? So which is it?
The media is really starting to bug me. Wish they would get their facts correct.
