2009.10.09 Duct Tape Photos From Remains Released

I was wondering if Casey was wearing short shorts and placed the edges of the duct tape on her leg.... maybe? :waitasec: Might be too far fetched...

Since some pieces were 9 inches long they would probably fold and stick to each other. Nah :snooty:

The fringe hair on Q104 has puzzled me for a while...

bbm ~ Could this be a hair from Caylee's eyebrow?

What you say here makes good sense.

I SO hope you are exactly correct, because the very thought of having to track down multiple rolls of Anthony owned Henkel duct tape makes me think my head might explode.

beach2, I respect you far too much to want to make your head :headache: let alone explode, but I *do* think I recall a mention of multiple rolls of duct tape that LE took from the A's garage.

The thought of diving into that pile of docs to find the reference makes my :headache: too. But here we go... <sploosh>

There is a documentary video that Val has on her site - it walks you through the ENTIRE process of how duct tape is manufactured. (yes, I have crossed over to the dark-side and lost all my marbles...) I am a bit embarrassed to say it, but it was quite interesting and very educational. That said, it wasn't a Henkel factory and didn't show logos. But it documented exactly in a video format how it is rolled, cut and packaged.

Anyway...I don't feel right linking it here w/o her permission. It can be seen at Val's site and it is an old entry (I *think* from Oct. '09 and it can be found under a title something like "The Duct Tape - Cloth #2 *not exact*)

Beach, she had posted that video here. I am not sure which thread it is in.

I found it!

Bond, I hope it is OK to post it here... if not please delete

Okay...now I see exactly what you are talking about.

I'll be damned if one thing doesn't lead to another. And another. And another. iykwim

eta: I mean like exactly where is ALL this duct tape?! That roll is HUGE and I agree it doesn't match. So WTH are all these rolls???? omg...how many duct tape thread subjects could we possibly come up with?!? Only the Anthonys could make it THIS freakin' complicated. :banghead:

I'm sure Casey had to use it for her partying...possibly for the no clothes party to hold that flag to her skin...and maybe for parties with themes like "nothing but duct tape", "bondage party night (BYODT)", etc.

But seriously, why does it seem like one family has so much dang duct tape? Are they just cheap with repairs or does someone have a duct tape fetish?

They didn't take any rolls of duct tape at all from the A. house. Guess it was all down at the KidFinders tent.

I think it is because family members take the tape......an don't return it to it's rightful place. There are rolls in the trunk, the basement, under the bathroom sink, etc. Not mine, but just an example. They use it and lose it. jmo

I don't recall that LE took rolls of duct tape from the A's garage (but that does not mean they did not) BUT I do recall that LE found duct tape used around their house;
in the shed to secure shelf holders, on gas cans, etc. I've not seen results reported that the tape used on projects around the A's house
(and the tape used to hang Caylee's posters) matches the tape found at the remains site. Did I miss it?

Have those connections been made and the results released in Discovery?

Oh my, be careful ynot!! Somebody throw her a life jacket!

note: we definetly need a life guard emoticon

I didn't know that! I just happened upon it a couple of weeks ago at her site. I have got to run fix dinner, but I will dig around and see if I can find it when I back to sleuthin'.

I mean really....who needs Netflix anyway?! :rotfl:

eta: Thank you, Harmony!!! Look up-thread, post #563. I'm sure it is fine since Val posted it here herself.

Don't forget about the roll of tape, duct or gaff(sp), that KC had that belonged to AH. That may have been the tape used on the costumes at the party.

This is why I've been waiting for evidence that directly links the tape used on Caylee to the A's house.

AH asked KC to return the tape but, as far as I know, she never did.

Oh yay. Guarded by Dennis & Sherri Milstead. I feel so much better. NOT.

Hmmm. Looking at the roll of tape on the table in that photo, it looks to me like the text under the logo is closer to the edge of the tape than it is in Q62, Q63, Q64, Q66 and Q104. Specifically, the last line of text (the "MAX TEMP" line) seems to go all the way to the edge of the tape, while on "our" roll there is space between that line and the edge of the tape (see attached photo of the back of Q62).

So...not the same roll of tape, which means we should rethink the theory that the taping of Caylee must have occurred at the house based on the fact that the roll of tape was left at the house. Instead, it looks like George had to use another roll of Henkel tape for the Caylee posters and KidFinders tent. Since it hadn't been sold for a while, perhaps he had a couple of rolls at the house.
This is probably no help at all, but here is a rotated and mirrored image of the Q62 oriented next to a rotated image posted by Harmony. I can't draw any conclusions, but I'll post it anyway for others to check.

I am not sure. The FBI link I had posted refers to it as 'eye hair'.

So that would be evidence that that piece of tape (Q100/Q104) had been placed over Caylee's eye area originally (even though it was found adrift).

Woe, the Q104 piece of duct tape had fringe hair on it. This is how the FBI defines it:

Fringe Hairs
Hairs originating from areas of the body outside those specifically designated as head or pubic are generally not suitable for significant comparison purposes. These hairs might originate from the neck, sideburns, abdomen, upper leg, and back.

Other Body Area Hairs
Axillary (underarm) hairs, chest hairs, eye hairs, and nose hairs are not routinely compared. As with limb hairs and fringe hairs, their presence may help to corroborate information obtained during an investigation. http://www.fbi.gov/hq/lab/fsc/backissu/july2000/deedric1.htm

Note that the fringe hair is listed separately from the 'eye hair'.

I am not sold yet on the idea that Q104 was at one time over the eye area.

Thank you much, Jay D!

The one you grabbed off of Harmony's photos is the one on the left that the station super-imposed. It DOES match, imo. (I first thought that was the one AZ was talking about, too. I should have read her original post more carefully. :blushing:) The logo that differs that AZ was referring to is the whole roll of tape on the table. When I looked at that closely, I could see what she is talking about. I don't know that if that can be blown up/rotated.

Frankly (omg...a Baez moment ), I am hoping beyond hope that Bond is right with his assessment.

could the fringe hair on the tape be from the face. my daughter is 3 and in the light u can see very fine hair on her face and forehead. almost like a light fuzz. i dk if im explaining it right.

Oh. I saw your post 518 and have been thinking about the descriptions.

The word axilla = armpit.

Auxiliary = supplementary.

Fringe = border, adorn, ornamental, peripheral, edge, additional, marginal, secondary, any additional benefit.

To me an eyelash would be 'fringe'. An eyebrow is a border or adornment.

If it is an eyelash or an eyebrow that they found on tape piece Q104, then it may help them to conclude that that piece of tape had been over Caylee's eyes. That's all.

I haven't see the piece of hair evidence but FWIW where I'm from a Fringe is what you would call Bangs...

For bangs the FBI guys just say "head hair." :)

"Fringe hair" may or may not include forearm hair--it's a little unclear from the FBI definitions we've been looking at. I'm wondering if "fringe hair" would include the little tiny hairs on the back of your hands. Could Casey have wrapped Q104 around Caylee's hands instead of around her wrists, to prevent her from reaching up and picking at the tape on her mouth/nose?

That would formally be head hair though. Good source of DNA if I'm not mistaken.

Other types of hairs, when found: "their presence may help to corraborate information obtained during an investigation." per post 518 in this thread.
