2009.11.06 Forensic Entomology Report Released #2

Video about the Body Farm where the study of human decomposition is carried out on real corpses. Goes well with the Caylee / Casey Anthony case videos as tests were conducted by Body Farm personal... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_SiqND9bNA[/ame]

Thought this might help to answer the "odor".

Gangrene is a good respresentation of what decay smells like. IF anyone has ever had gangrene set in...

Pungent, sweet smell...you will never forget it!

Good morning Lambchop!!

I thought that photo of the white trash bag in the dumpster was an evidence photo depicting the setting the night it was retrieved.

In SB's interview of 7/24/08 #2 at about 8:30 into the interview he states the dumpster trash is picked up on Monday's and this was Thursday and there were bags in the dumpster. He goes on to state that the bags were not there and at first he thought the trash had been picked up and the other trash was put in after the pickup. Then he realized trash pickup was Monday so he called LE. The picture may have been taken outside the dumpster. The picture shows two bags and only one was in the trunk, the one with the stain. Also I believe LP made a reference to the stain on the bag being decomposition on NG one night. JMO

LC you are correct... Look back, I edited my post and added a link to SB's transcript. I am confused because to me it looks like that photo is taken in the dumpster.... and there is only one other bag. :waitasec:

I know. It looks that way to me, too, but SB clearly states there was other trash in the dumpster. So I would guess they placed it outside and took a picture. That would be my guess. JMO

That is a good guess.... IDK!!! I am still confused.... He also states on page 20 that the bag had yellow ties and the one in the photo has blue ties.

Hi Harmony and everyone! :)

I lightened a few photos. As far as the color of the bag handles, it's obvious to us they are blue. As to where the photo was taken...

Here is the inside of the trunk. Notice the white specks of "whatever" on the carpet, though it might be a copied photo that makes it appear to be white specks. Next, I lightened the bags photo. I *think* I see those same white specks. Also, in the bottom right corner there is something; a paper towel? I don't know. And there's a water bottle above the bags. Maybe you can see more than me.

Eyewitnesses are not always reliable. You could have 10 witnesses and each may describe things a little differently. But a photo doesn't make mistakes. Plus they know this is the bag because it had a receipt in it from one of TL's roommates or friends.

Could it be the lid to the dumpster???? Whatever it is on looks like metal. The more I look at the stain in the trunk and the bag makes me think KC put the bag over the stain in case someone had her open her trunk they would immediately think it was coming from the trashbag. She parked next to a dumpster at Amscot. Why would she leave a bag of trash in her car other than to explain away the squirrel smell???

True! On each picture, I see a sort of round small metal thing. It's at the bottom. In the bag photo, the bag on the left is touching it, it's shiny. In the trunk photo, it's to the left, and slightly below that white paper. Is it a part to the trunk, maybe what opens/closes it from the inside?:waitasec: I think you all can figure it out better than me. :)

Do you remember if TL gave a date as to when Casey took the trash? I know he was surprised to find out his trash was in her car...but I thought I remember him stating something about driving the trash down to the dumpster. And very good point...why would anyone leave trash in a car when they were at a dumpster? I always found it hard to believe that Casey didn't go back and check on the car to make sure it was fine (which I suppose she could have done)...or even mention it to the check cashing place..."Hey, I ran out of gas." No...IMO...she wanted no attention and no car.

I don't know. Maybe because possessions mean nothing to her, including her child. I really think the car was starting to smell badly and my guess her clothes started to smell, too. Get rid of the car. Let someone else worry about it. I don' think TL said anything about when KC took the trash. He may not have known. TL did say they pretty much used his car after she started staying there when they went out together. At somepoint TL would have said, "Boy your car smells, lets clean it out." I think KC may have already tried to clean it and maybe the stain on the bag was from her cleaning that area then placing the bag there while it was still wet. Body fluids would be had to get completely out of that carpeting. JMO

Did you ever see the Mythbusters episode with the dead pigs in the Corvette?? They stripped the interior, cleaned the entire car, and still couldn't get the smell out. The guy who bought the car bought it for the motor & tranny and was going to part out the body.
That's a tough smell to get out!

I do agree with the part about recognizing the smell. The average Joe Schmuck doesn't recognize that smell as death/decomposition. I know I wouldn't, and as a plumber, I've smelled some nasty stuff. That may be the stumbling block to overcome for the SA.

Excellent episode! Got to love Jamie and Adam

Page 9 SB mentions the car was out of gas. He noticed the gauge indicated it was empty. http://www.docstoc.com/docs/1642040/Burch-Simon---Statement

I think Casey intended on going back to get the car and this is why she kept asking friends about gas cans. However, she didn't get back to it on time.

Exactly! I just read it. What the heck? Now I can see why we're confused.

I think the important thing to remember, it is documented in a report that LE found the garbage bags in TL apartment once they searched with his permission, that matched the one thrown in the dumpster by SB collected from Casey's trunk.

Simon was mistaken, easily enough.

Yellow drawstrings are far more common than blue in my opinion. Plus, if the car stunk that bad, who would spend their time focusing on the color of the drawstrings as you quickly toss it into the bin?

Your mind is pulling ten different directions. Trying to comfort the guy whose concerned for the safety of his grand baby whose car smells like death, trying to run a business, trying to listen to and react to everything he is saying, all the while trying to make mental notes yet get it over and away from that stinky car as quickly, tactfully and professionally as possible.

It looks as though the reddish stains on the garbage bag originates from the inside of the rusty damp dumpster..

Even though it looks that way the bags were not on the bottom of the dumpster but on top of trash bags which had already been deposited by Amscot. If you read SB's statement to LE for 7/24/08 he states that.

LE would not tip the bag to photograph it, protocol would to photograph it as it appear before collecting it as evidence. In my opinion, rusty water would not have leave a visible imprint on the side of a plastic bag as we can clearly see in this photo.

I recommend you at least watch part 5 of the Mythbuster's episode I posted to get familiar with what decomposition fluid looks like.

To me it looks as if the bags may still have been inside the dumpster. I know SB said there was already trash in the dumpster but that may be what we are looking at. It could be a black bag under the clean white one and it would be a piece of scrap metal under the Pontiac bag. It's a tow yard so there is no telling what would be in there other than garbage. JMO

Actually when I first saw that picture I thought the red was something on the inside of the bag, pizza sauce or spagetti sauce. Llike maybe it had been laying on it's side where the stain is.
