2010.04.23 Grandma Sykes and Neves Search at the St.John River

  • #21
I wanted to discuss AS's statement, but didn't know where to do it, sooo thanks for posting this. :) I was wondering if her admission would be considered as tampering with a crime scene? Why not let LE do their job? What would AS & TN have done had they found something? AS sure has been adamant about not believing Haleigh is deceased without proof ( I can understand that).. but it does make ya wonder if that's because of her love for Haleigh... or her fear that with 'proof', the guilty can quickly be convicted....

YW. I don't know enough about the legalities of tampering with evidence to speak on that but I would think, if Gma Sykes, after she got Gma Hollar's call tipping her off, didn't call the PCSO like she claimed she had on NG last night, after Flora said she called them - that would look mighty bad for Gma Sykes IMO.

NGS Transcript;
(Bold & Red Text by Me)

GRACE: Ms. Sykes, what do you think of them searching -- the police searching the St. John`s River?

SYKES: Well, evidently, they had some tip. Somebody called them. And they were down there searching. And I went down there early that morning and didn`t -- you know, they wouldn`t tell me anything. And I wasn`t -- I knew what they were searching -- you know, I knew they were looking for something participating (SIC) to Haleigh, but I didn`t really know what.

HOLLARS: I was the one that called you and told you that.

SYKES: Yes, she did. Ms. Hollars called me and told me -- she certainly did -- that she had called down here and told them what Tommy had told her. And Teresa and I went and -- over to that area and walked around all afternoon and looked in the woods over there. But of course, we didn`t find anything.

GGma Sykes told two different versions.

The first one she says she was down there early morning and they wouldn't tell her anything.

After Flo gets her to admit Flo told her, she says her and TN "walked around all afternoon." If they walked around...that had to be before LE was there.

The Mondex search - she also said that LE wouldn't find Haleigh there.

Just saying - this seems to be par for the course for TN and GGMa Sykes, nothing unusual.

You're right raisin - So question of the day: How come Gma Sykes is always so sure what they won't find?!

Anyone else having flashbacks to another certain case we follow on here? Grandma out searching where grandbaby is eventually found, but found nothing when they searched . . . . are we going to hear "It couldn't be Misty or Ron, they were in jail when Haleigh was put there"

I do find it odd the Gma's would go there to search, seeing how they'd be searching for a dead body. I wouldn't think that'd be something they would want to find. As with the other case, you have to wonder what they would have done if they did find something. Or did they . . . .

BBM: I doubt that AS would have admitted how she knew about the search until FH mentioned calling her with the tip. jmo

I mentioned that in another thread and I suspect she wouldn't have..
I also mentioned I don't know just what exactly LE found, if anything, in that area, but I wouldn't put it past GGMS or TN to put something there to frame someone...
As I see it she took Haleigh's picture out of that frame that night because she needed to frame someone else... Didn't matter who...Just as long as her son's picture wasn't placed in it..JMO

Yes and I think I know why. AS did not want it out that her and Hollar's were talking. I bet this just fried LE when they found this out. You know things were being said like Misty loves Ron and Ron loves Misty and this was getting back to the players and things Misty was saying were getting back to Ron so he could keep the script on track. I bet AS and TN were using this connection to the max.

You ain't kiddin YellowSub - Right out of CA's playbook. I find it more than odd considering that they very well may have given a future defendent's attorney a reasonable-doubt in... On the other hand, if they know that anyone other than RC isn't really guilty, then they could probably care less about the outcome, ie., hung jury, not guilty... JMHO ~

Aloha'oe everyone! GMS and TN searching the area in the woods, just a thought? Maybe one of them lost something? I remember the search the day of the wedding wasnt LE searching for "something that could be thrown from a car?" JMHO

We haven't heard anything more from or about the PI. Where did he go?

probably told to shut it or lose all credibility.

Grandma Hollar's said Ron told Misty he loved her in court. Nobody else reported this.

Makes me really think AS passed this little tidbit to Hollar's in hopes she would relay it to Misty.

Did anyone ever hear him say what his solution was? Did it follow the same lines as Hollars?tia

I don't find it odd that GGS and TN went there. Heck yes I would too. It's been over a year and my grand baby still isn't home, Law Enforcement hasn't been telling me much except "Misty is the key".....(and I don't think she was buying that myself...)

Goodness gracious, remember the San Mateo search involving the Sheffield side of the family? These people just want their granddaughter home and would look wherever anyone told them there might be a lead.....even if it was a pyschic...or a out of town Granny....I think they all just want Haleigh home.

And by the way....Do we know that GGS didn't call LE with the tip from Flora Hollers?

Didn't the PI say he found something that would solve the case? What did he find? Where did he find it? Was he with TN and GGS?

I do remember something along those lines being said just can't remember where at the moment  Do you recall by any chance? The PI was hired by HaLeigh's mother, Crystal - but would it surprise me to hear that TN played another "snake in the woods game" with this PI too? Not in the least. Matter of fact you've got me thinkin...
Pure speculation on my part but perhaps that's why the PI (Brown) seems to have slipped under a rock right after making his grand television appearance announcing that he solved the case. Maybe he found out (a little PCSO birdie?) he'd been played. IMO, unbenounced to us, someone(s) put the brakes on him and said "Not so fast!" Hate to say this but I think TN can still play Crystal S. like a fiddle - maybe that's whats been keeping her so busy lately; getting in tight with her new bff.

MOO ~

You are right. I missed that. Strange that she would mention the second trip first.

Maybe the police need to fly Flo down and let her talk to people with a hidden wire...she sure can get them confused and blurting out things.

I can understand theireasons family members have when they go to physically search for their loved one who is missing. I really can.

However, why these two ladies? Were they out there alone? How would they know if they saw something of evidentiary value?

Were they looking for something specific? Although I can understand searching and can find no fault in that---if these two were looking for Haleigh---then they had to be thinking they were looking for her body. If that is the case, then that is where my understanding is lost---to find a child's body? These are not stupid women by any means, nor are they ignorant of what happens to a body left to the elements (above or below ground).

What I'm trying to say is that this doesn't seem right. There's something not right about this and I cant' put my finger on it yet.

Wonder how CS feels about this? Wasn't the PI working for her?

Mr. Brown stated that Crystal was his client, however I am not certain if he meant currently. I doubt Crystal would have objected to anything that would bring about truth and a discussion that would help bring Haleigh home.
