What happened at court with Tommy today? This seems to be the million dollar question.

Here is a video of Tommy in court today. I right clicked on the vid and took it to full screen.

You can see Tommy turn to his right and mouth something to someone as he is walking into court and then when he is walking out of court you see him mouthing something else in the same direction and you see a girl in a flowered dress that looks like lyndsy from the back.

I wonder why we have heard nothing especially since there were cameras in the court room.

IA that does look like Lindsey, it also looks likeher standing with Werter in the video when he is answering why Tommy took so long to come forward.

I believe the B & E trial is set for 3 June and the trafficking trial for 23 June.

That is what i thought to. Right when they first show Werter there is a frame there without the bar and you can see her pretty good.

I swear i can tell he is saying I love you to her. But that might just be my mind hearing it so much on the tapes.

I see that the def attty has said this possible plea deal is in regards to the drug charges only, but since RC mentioned Haleigh and the case in the U/C videos, doesn't that make them linked anyway? :waitasec:

If it went to trial (drug charges) would they have to remove the portions of the tape where RC mentions Haleigh/drug lords?

If portions do need to be removed to keep the cases seperate, then they won't have as much solid, 'slam dunk' video evidence of the drug busts- could that be why Ron would 'need' to testify against his co-defendants to get the plea?

I need to go back and watch those U/C vids. It's been a while, and I haven't followed the case as closely as many of you....so, sorry if I'm way off base.

  • #251
He is not agreeing to testify in a trial about Haleigh. He is agreeing that he will testify against the co-defendants in the drug trafficking. Imo the DA knows Ron doesn't have any information about what happened to Haleigh since he was at work.
IMO

........why do they need him at all in the drug trafficking----?----it's all on video.

..plus, i wouldn't believe RC if he told me it was raining, unless i personally stepped outside and got wet----------even then i would like back up from a meterologist for confirmation.

:waitasec: The State has all of them on video surveillance, why would they even offer a plea deal? Unless they can share information regarding Haleigh is what it sounds like. Shoemaker said that an attempt stalled Wednesday to make a deal with the state. To me that sounds as if the State is not happy with what information Ronald has to give up. I will assume then that Ron also has information he is giving LE about Haleigh. Even though Shoemaker said Ron just wants to testify against Misty and Hank. That makes no sense to me, they to were caught on video surveillance.

Hank has a lesser charge and it seems his deal may be 3 yrs or less. Sounds to me like Hank has the upper hand right now with his information he has shared with LE. I feel the audio that was released yesterday was done so on purpose to send a message out to the others...like he they still are pointing fingers at Joe. IMO, LE would never release any calls that may have "Creditable Admission" to a crime while the case is still under investigation and charges have not been filed yet. I feel the call with Tommy and Grandma Hollars was staged. Grandma leads with the Cousin Joe did it and Tommy is like, uh yeah that's it and then goes along with Grandma.
Hollars: Hollars asks, "Is it the story Misty is saying -- Joe?" Croslin replies, "Yeah, that's it."
If you read between the lines Shoemaker pretty much says that the State has a strong case and without info regarding Haleigh they may not give out any deals. So why would the State take a plea? IMO, not to testify against someone in the drug case, it would be to help in the Haleigh Homicide case. The State still has not accepted the offer either, Shoemaker said maybe in a week or two. IMO, LE will have the forensics back from the river by then and may not want to give Ronald any type of plea deal. Unless he has given information regarding Haleigh that is. JMO though.

Ronald Cummings negotiating a 15-yr sentence In exchange for testimony of Misty and Hank Jr. in Drug Case.

"Snip" http://staugustine.com/news/2010-05-13/haleighs-father-negotiating-15-year-sentence-drug-case

Shoemaker said negotiations are not finished but part of the expected deal would mean Ronald Cummings would not be sentenced until after the Croslins are tried.

The judge assign a trial date of July 19, 2010 and a final date the court will accept a negotiated deal-plea agreement .

Shoemaker and Cummings hope to have the deal within two weeks or possibly within a week.

An attempt stalled Wednesday to make a deal with the state, said Terry Shoemaker. He said Cummings will agree to testify at trials of Misty Croslin, and Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr.

The sentencing range would likely be a 15-year minimum mandatory - possible 30-year maximum, Shoemaker said. The sentence would be for the three less serious charges.

Shoemaker said surveillance evidence of Rons 5 undercover drug deals was a significant factor.

"It's a great case for the state," he said.

Misty Croslin is scheduled for court in June.

The sheriff just recently conceded the Haleigh Cummings case is being considered a homicide.

Shoemaker said the disappearance of Haleigh, while not related to the trafficking case, made resolving the drug case more difficult.

Lawyer says Tommy Croslin is cooperating in Haleigh case

"For the cooperation he has been giving over the Haleigh Cummings case, I would try to argue (his sentence) down...," Werter said. "We brought him to FDLE in Putnam County and that's how they ended up at the river -- through Tommy's help. Otherwise this case would still be in a quagmire. Tommy Croslin had outlined for authorities what happened the night Haleigh disappeared "and he was able to take them to that final destination."
We have the dots, it's just connecting them."
A phone conversation with his grandmother in which Tommy implicated Joseph Overstreet, as being involved in Haleigh's disappearance is an example of cooperation, attorney James Werter said.

Croslin faces a minimum mandatory sentence of three years on the trafficking charge, Werter said.

Hope has been sentenced and Tommy is working his own plea deal. So they need Ron's testimony to convict Misty? Like they can't get her on at least one of the 6-8 instances of drug trafficking? Yeah, okay DA, I'm buying that one. Hardly.

  • #254
Right, there is a plea deal just like the family was told to plan a funeral.

Ron is going to testify against others just like Ron was doing all the drug sales to get close to Misty and get information about Haleigh.

It looks as though Ronald Cummings will need to testify against his ex-wife Misty Croslin.

Cummings accepted a plea deal in exchange for his testimony.

He will serve 15 years on drug charges and will also need to testify against Misty Croslin's brother, Hank "Tommy" Croslin, regarding drug charges.

with hearing that RC would not be sentenced till Misty and Tommy go to trial, leaves me to believe one thing......saving the best for last......MO
I think LE are letting RC play his little game up until then.....even with him getting the minimum 15 yrs (which I do not think will happen ) would give them lots of time for other charges concerning Haleigh. I still say that there is a reason his jail phone call recording have not been released.....just the one with TN asking "do you think she will talk?", and "remember, theres a snitch in there"......that alone tells me ALOT!!!! MO

Can you provide a link for these court dates or a screen shot of the court dates? Thanks.

You would think they would backup that story with a quote from Ron's lawyer or the State or Ron.

Or is this just their spin on events and that is why they use "it looks as though".
