2010.07.19 Defense is Investigating George

If only I had access to GA's HHR-I would pop in a CD with a recording of his 2nd police interview (where he hurls at the end) so that he could take another listen to the truths that escaped his piehole that day.
Gear up, Georgie Porgie, you might want to remember your gut feelings from that interview come trial time and use them as ammo when the defense comes at you guns blazing. I hope he gets on his game by then, and is ready to deflect this crime right back on whom it belongs-His daughter.

I'll have to go back and listen. All I recall is George's usual hogwash and sucking up.

That recording was released in a document dump on April 6, 2009. It was done while driving George to (attempt to) see KC on August 14, 2008. Mason probably needs to go back through the discovery released to the defense prior to him joining the defense.

First thing I asked myself is why are Mason and Holly reporting this as new news? I would be embarrassed for them except I'm laughing to hard.

Casey Anthony: Pen pal Robyn Adams to be questioned in defamation case

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/en...dams-to-be-questioned-in-defamation-case.html

<snipped>

In the criminal case, WFTV and WOFL-Ch. 35 reported that Anthony’s attorneys deposed Orange County sheriff’s detective John Allen, who has been on the case from the start.

Mason said that the defense learned that Allen secretly recorded conversations with George Anthony, Casey’s father, in a car. “So far, what I have seen, it may help the defense,” Mason told Bristow. “We’ll have to see how that plays out.”

You will notice that Mason is not proclaiming that LE "illegally" recorded GA. This is a minor point , but a rather huge one. George was not charged with anything, was not the suspect nor targeted subject of an investigation, and was not in a location where he had a reasonable expectation of privacy. Mason is seeking to spin something in the press as an underhanded dirty move by LE showing bad faith or bad cops, when it is in truth a perfectly valid and legal investigation technique that has held up in court in the past. This isn't some "secret" unrevealed recording that the defense just discovered during deposition. It's been there all along.

I believe there are enough other statements/recordings of GA available to the State when/if the defense challenges these.

I completely agree about the spin!

Does not surprise me this question came from Bristow. Isn't Bristow on CA/GA speed dial?

Holly Bristow's article popped up first thing this morning... Here are a couple of quote I can't quite fathom... but he could mean GA as well as others.

In reference to Allen's depo...

"We go through the entire history. We want to know what they did and what they did not do, who they talked to, what people said and every time we do this we learn more and more things that's frankly beneficial to our case," said Mason.

"So far from what I've seen it could help the defense on several things. Some people made some candid comments they didn't' maybe intend to do that. But there they are. We'll have to see how they play out," said Mason. \

Prepared with a binder full of notes on Sgt. Allen, Mason says those conversations aren't all they're asking about. "His crucial role is probably more to deal with the credibility of other witnesses what they actually did or did not do or told him, may be contrary to his reports," said Mason.

In the last one, is there a possibility Allen made mistakes in his reports about what people DIDN'T SAY as well as what they DID SAY???

Indeed, iirc, the Anthonys felt that they were illegally or at least immorally recorded when they were interviewed by police and the federal agents. In the civil depo mom answering to a clip they played proclaimed that was a cruel thing LE did to her, she was furious over it. I understand her having a poor understanding about the rules and discretion afforded to LE. Pop being former LE , he knows LE was well within their rights to record any and everything he said. I do get that the pattern of Jose , is according to Judge Strickland, feigning ignorance, or possibly he actually is unaware of many common procedures and police tactics. However, Mr. Mason normally forgets his bona fides in any public remarks. He enjoys mentioning the amount of years he has been a lawyer, very early on, directly after hello ( see 9:40 mark in third video below). For him to leave the listener with the inference this was some wrongdoing on the part of LE to record statements from George is absurd. Thankfully,he will not be in in spin city in Judge Perry's courtroom. This is chapter seventeen, How To Control The News Cycle. From start to finish, top to bottom, that is what his public remarks are. Spin. It is not that he doesn't understand. It is that he believes the listener does not.

If he gets in a courtroom and condescends to the jury this way, we'll see how that works out. We'll just see! Mr. Hornsby reviewed his case record for us and to be kind, it is not impressive. If you don't believe me just go ask his most recent client in a dp case. He is sitting on death row!

Theme song for mom and the defense
"Reason To Believe"
If I listen long enough to you, I'll find a way to believe that it's all true
knowing that you lied, straight faced while I cried
still I look to find a reason to believe."

Truth by assertion is common for politicians and this defense team, imo.

"A lie told often enough becomes the truth. "

I have a friend who is a realty broker, years ago he designed advertising calling himself the Condo King, had never sold a condo in his life. Guess what? It worked. He is an expert .........now.

I agree with you and the others, Mason likes to spin and he has a poor understanding of the case history so he often gets facts wrong while he does so.
I am with Mr. Horsby on this, thoroughly unimpressed.

Mr. Mason would do well to listen to his own opinion on the mistake it is to make public comments.

Defense attorney Cheney Mason said claims made by Casey Anthony and Baez that Caylee was alive will now work against them at trial.

"Then all the talking, all the press interviews and the parents going on this show and that show and the lawyer going on different shows establishes they have no credibility whatsoever," Mason said.
His first impression was wise. I guess reflection is not his strong suit. In the recent interview with a morning show, George says even he is still being investigated in response to a question about do mom and pop believe that everything was looked into that could have been. He knows the bus is gunning for him, he seemed to have no concern over that.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GL43U7kAIIE[/ame]
George is simply flavor of the month, first it was Zanny, then Ricardo and Amy, Jesse, Kronk, now George, and God help which ever one of them whose cell phone pings were recently released after Linda Drane Burdick found them to have not yet been released in discovery. With the location being so close to the Anthony home, if the cell pings are George's , on the day of the computer searches for chloroform, or household weapons, neck breaking, etc. that will be the news cycle. The pings may be quite inconsequential, pertaining to a minor witness in the case, and the defense is proclaiming them to be equal to the writings on Mose's stone tablets. I am so thankful for the Florida sunshine laws and that we will get to see them for ourselves. No selling ice to the Eskimos here, Mr. Mason. Thank you very much. Who is next?

You just can't make this stuff up!!!
Tony and Jesse, buckle up, friends they still are gunning for you two. All day long, imo.

In all cases where humans are involved in putting together the evidence, it's inevitable that there will be mistakes. All police investigations have mistakes, and it is the defense's job to find these and use them in an attempt to create reasonable doubt. No doubt Baez and Mason are actively pursuing every inaccuracy they find, in the hope of finding something they can use to the benefit of their client, to fail to do this would be a gross incompetence on their part. Will it be enough to create reasonable doubt? I very much doubt it. But have at it IMO. We'll see you in court.

Yes. Det. Melich and FBI agent Scott Bolin were in the car as well. Allen did most of the talking with George. There is nothing extraordinary in the conversation.

that's what i thought.
Thanks

What the news reporters should have done with this is junior high school journalism, fact check, listen to the recording and post that in their story.
I have never seen such lazy , complacent journalism in my life. Don't these folks have editors or fact checkers?

Now here is a recording with some substance and the lies that led to her arrest that night. Does anyone know if George and Cindy overheard Casey's answers to the detectives? Her details are amusing and a red flag from jump.

Thanks TWA...as you see, this was not secretly recorded...Detective Melich from the start tells who is there and where they are heading...Nothing secreative about his...oh how the defense spins their stuff and I only hope is it comes back to haunt them. They truly should be ashamed of themselves as they blunder each and every time....My money's on those fine SAs who have their case very together...LDB is well prepared as we saw in the hearing on those 911 calls...JMHO

Justice for Caylee

TWA, watch your back friend, you are a REPOSITORY of relevant information. I enjoy your posts and perspective immensely.

"George is getting ready to do the unimaginable," Mr. Nejame said while escorting pop to the grand jury.

This is the time I do believe pop took a deep breath and told the truth for Caylee.
The defense should bear in mind pop could slant his testimony against his daughter if he feels it is him or her. One hundred times out of one hundred, faced with this choice, people chose to protect themselves.

Have good faith everyone! Mason and Baez can spin things however they like to the PRESS.

Judge Perry will set them straight about what he allows that is outside of the rules while they are in his court. This is where I first came to KNOW IT.

Remember this little gem? Watch the honorable Judge Belvin Perry, Jr.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoCj1KX7DF8[/ame]
"Are all minds clear?" Judge Perry asked with a raised eyebrow and titled head, you know...... the one your mother used to give you to indicate her next step was a whipping.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu3wXEKkeTI[/ame]
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Bxn6KzI-IY[/ame] Here , they discuss Cindy laundered the slacks that smelled like the car. " I don't like the smell in that car, I am being straight and honest with you",, George Anthony told the detectives".
Futher George explains that ninety nine percent of the time he and Cindy cared for Caylee, so much so that Casey often complained that Caylee runs to them and not her. This helps us with the resentment and in mom's words Casey left so she and Caylee could "bond". I also heard on this one that Cindy allegedly told Amy on the car ride over to Tonys her "concerns about the smell in that car". Oh my.

This is the area of conversation in video part THREE where the Federal Agent is explaining to George that if as and when he should talk to his daughter about the FBI and LE being at her beacon call if she should want to initiate a conversation, and they both agree that pop would in no way be acting as a arm of LE, whatsoever, he is do things only of his own will and accord. I see this as definitive that George on the way to the jail in that vehicle , was NOT an agent for the State, which is what I believe Cheney is trying to imply.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lv4y339pXw[/ame]
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEFdGuKhV_U[/ame]
The Federal agent explains in the above video that mom may be looking at things in an unrealistic way, but he believes George understands the reality.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsf0g0evsDg[/ame]
In the above video, George details how CASEY often handles ( steals ) the gas cans. This will matter when the duct tape on the cans is an issue of who placed it there last.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRs7DjtuCwU[/ame] Here George tells how Casey DID NOT want him looking in that car trunk!
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcGa1WXFPlA[/ame]

Caylee had no, zero, familiar apparent knowledge of who in the world Zanny is , not Zachary, unlike her frequent references to others in her life. Compelling, imo.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YRwnoCqjNU[/ame]

Yeah...I think the defense would do well to review these. I would not make an enemy out of pop if I were them. I may as well change their theme song to "You Dropped A Bomb On Me", if they do. This man has some very bad facts for their case. " I don't like the smell in that car, I am being straight and honest with you", George Anthony, who explains he has smelled decomposition in his former job as a LE officer, told the detectives. If one were to list them, that would be way up there. The good, hardworking taxpayers of the jury are going to believe the dad, the lead HOMICIDE experienced Yuri and have no need for the Oakridge Lab reports to be deemed legitimate science.
You just can't make this stuff up!!!!

Thanks TWA.
I forgot it was George's advice and finally Casey's agreement and written request to Sheriff Beary, that she wished to meet with George, privately, that is why he is with Allen and Melich in a car on the way to the jail.

Here is the link to that letter dated August 14, 2008

I posted this in another thread....The detectives had to drive George back home. Could there be another recording of the trip back that hasn't been released?

snipped for space - thank you for this, that one clip of just Casey's voice answering questions is haunting. If not for the terrifying content and meaning behind it, I'd have fallen asleep, that's how calmly she spoke.
