2010.07.26 Grand Jury begins

It usually involved the keeper of the records for companies like cell providers, banking and financial, etc. The papers don't mean much without a person testifying as to what they are and what they mean.

Right. I've seen these people testify in person for both Peterson and Spector. They verify the veracity of the records to get them entered as evidence, chain of custody, all that.

Is this woman, DeDe, a mother? I'm assuming so, but I don't know much about her. But if so, how could a mother do this to someone's child? Keep information from the real parents?

I want Kyron found. I want him back in school in a month or so. I want him to have a normal life. :(

Not a mother as far as we know. No kids at home.

Ack. I closed the link out on Oregon law regarding grand juries. It said service for a year, I believe. I didn't read through all the statutes so the answer may have been in there somewhere, but does anyone know what happens if the process exceeds the term of that particular jury? Does it start all over again with a new jury or are they compelled to remain in service?

There may have been a state law that you found that is general, but Oregon is one of the few states in the U.S. where the counties control most of the way Grand Juries are operated specific to their own county. Our cities uniquely have their own charters as well. And we are not a community property state, as mentioned a lot here. We also have some of the toughest search and seizure laws in the land.

Oregon believes in individuality and it shows in our legal system.

I know, right? but he also was not in the room.. and who knows if she (dds) is cut from the same cloth as TH.. and chose to lie to her attorney... wouldn't doubt it in this case!

TH was adopted, wasn't she? I wonder if there is some kind of relationship between her and DDS that they found out after becoming adults.

Seeing these pics today...man DD and TH sure look alike.

So Dede's attorney was lying on recorded video that Dede spent 3 1/2 hours with detectives, followed by multiple follow-up conversations?

I don't know what he's doing. She's cooperating now because of the subpoena and because she may be in deeper poo than she originally thought.

We'll see what happens. I don't know anything about her attorney except that he is defending her. The police and prosecutors often disagree with defense attorneys, so I see nothing wrong with disagreeing with one.

I'm taking the prosecution side in this case - Kyron's side.

As an Ore-gander do you happen to know the answer? What happens when the process exceeds the term of service? Either locally or as a general rule in Oregon?

Let me make a call to a court clerk friend of mine and see what she says. :)

Can't the members of the grand jury themselves ask a witness questions?

I didn't want you to go to trouble.

But thanks :)

Spending time with detectives is not the same as answering their questions truthfully (or at all.)

She thinks I'm silly. HAHA!

My local court clerk friend said that in Multnomah County they choose jurors every so many months but she can't remember how many exactly.

If a juror starts on a case, they will continue with that case until its completion, even if their term expires.

I don't see them having her sit there for 3 1/2 hours if she wasn't talking. Once she claims the 5th, not much else they can do. Of course she may have lied to them. Who knows. Same could be said about everyone involved here.

I am hoping it means the state feels that they have sufficient evidence to not need her testimony right now... or that this GJ is going to be one of the lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng drawn out ones. :(

First opportunity I've had to check in today. As my granny used to say, "Good Lordy in the mornin'!" (and don't ask, because I never knew why it was in the morning).

Gonna read the articles and try to catch up with this thread. Just wanted to say thanks for all the info and links that've been posted!

Boy that would suck lol. Well, it's good for the DA and the suspect and justice and the American way and all that ... but still. I'd be right upset if I was sitting on a GJ for years.

Thanks for checking :)
