2010.07.26 Grand Jury begins

Last warning..... I would like a link to a reliable source that Terry didn't like kids or stop with that rumor. This is my third warning.

I am hoping it means the state feels that they have sufficient evidence to not need her testimony right now... or that this GJ is going to be one of the lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng drawn out ones. :(

I just can't imagine why they would go to the trouble to subpoena her, schedule the time at the GJ, have all those people there, and then not ask her any questions.

Watching report on this on JVM right now. Legal expert says the GJ today means they are gearing up for an arrest. The lady who's the author of "The Profiler" (can't think of her name) thinks the "top is going to be blown off of this case" in the PC tomorrow. Lot's of other stuff being said (all special guests' opinions of course). Another expert says he doubts the PC tomorrow will be anything big as they've been planning it for quite a while. Sounds like the GJ could last a while, they are going to be speaking to a lot of other people besides DS, etc.

I would be lying if I said I'm not very anxious at this point to finally find out what happened. Obviously the #1 most important thing is finding this precious little boy, but I'm sure the rest of you can agree, after following this case as closely as we have been over the last couple of months, an arrest and some revelations will be a huge relief.

Grandmaj, it was DeDe that was stated as not liking kids. I think it was one of the posts from the cousin on THAT blog. I just got here and noticed your post. I remember he was describing DeDe.

I believe it is Dede that some posters are saying does not like kids, not Terri. Not sure of where this came from.

I don't have children and tend to grit my teeth a little when around them for long periods of time...but that hardly means I dislike them. Or would assist someone in harming one or covering up for someone who may have harmed them.

That blog is not an acceptable link or source. It is in the Parking Lot and cannot be linked here.

We are giving you latitude to say the cousin was right about the GJ. But until MSM gives more information about Dede the blog stays in the Parking Lot and the information is considered rumor and not allowed here. Thanks! :)

If you link to that thread in the parking lot and take all conversation in this regard to that thread you are fine. NOT up here in the forum though 10-4? So just take the elevator down one floor.

Can't the members of the grand jury themselves ask a witness questions?

Kimster or anyone else who can find out or knows. I do believe the members of the grand jury can ask questions of the witnesses.

I saw this alot with Drew Peterson's grand jury. There were witnesses called and sent home and finally testify and be called back. It seems like a pretty fluid process. Another testimony may have taken longer than expected that day. And as others testifies it brings up more questions the jury wants to ask those who have already testified.

!!!! on JVM an investigator in the state of Oregon just said that DDS could be waiting on a grant of "transactional immunity" before she testifies in front of the GJ (was just watching live... no link)... will post this in the legal thread (ie: transactional immunity)

Not involved in this matter, but I recall reading it on the godlike blog, posted by the cousin. I think the cousin was checked out and verified by media, but declined interviews, but FWIW and please do delete this now if you wish. It was the cousin who posted that DeDe didn't care for children. I would say it can be cited since the media contacted the cousin and (sort of) verified the person, but hell, who knows what's up? Your call, 100%. Fairly on the edge of rumor, IMO.

Thanks SuziQ that answers my question.

I'm not a lawyer, but from what I've read over the years I believe they can.

I think it's interesting that her attorney refused to comment on her whereabouts during that 90 minutes. What's the big deal? If she went out to lunch then say it. If she was working out just say it.

Sorry to be slow, but what is JVM? I'm pulling a blank.

Well, it seems to me that the Grand Jury provides a check and balance to LE, provides a barrier to possible future criticism that a defendent was *railroaded*, also the predictable LE comment that they are sorting through 3000 + leads. If I were LE/DA I would want a GJ opinion and indictment particularly on a projected death penalty case.

My op is that this case is moving slowly NOT because *they have nothing* but because LE/DA wants to put together a tight, thorough DP case, with all the I's dotted and T's crossed. I think they have a lot.
