2010.07.26 Grand Jury begins

Wow, two hours with Starbucks employees. Maybe I should be more careful who I'm chatty with when I go grocery shopping or out to eat.
Especially if you've planned to make a child disappear.

I bet she never thought getting coffee would come back to bite her in the butt.
I don't think T does much thinking outside of a very small field of reference.

HHhhmmm... I wonder why this visit to starbucks was left out of her overly detailed runthru of her entire days events sent via email on June 5th. (maybe DY was correct afterall that Terri COULDN'T[or wouldnt] remember the events of her day on June 4th) Cuz she sure left out the starbucks trip and must be of some relevance as the employees were called before the GJ and even more telling their testimony was over 2 hours long...

Maybe this is where she met a lover? This timeline is dated for June 5th, she wouldn't have wanted Kaine to know there was another man in her life at that time - Maybe it was Michael Cook?
BTW - has anyone heard anything about Michael Cook going before the GJ? I find it rather interesting, if he hasn't been called.

It is fascinating, but we may not know everyone who has testified yet.

They don't usually call suspects to the GJ, and they haven't called Terri either, so . . . read into that whatever you want!

Maybe they don't need his testimony to get an indictment with GJ so they will save his bombshells for the trial if he has made some sort of deal.

Wow, all these people being called to GJ to recall something that happened so many weeks ago. Makes me hope I'm never called in as a witness. Do you think they still have video from that long ago? Or maybe LE got it a while ago. I'd think either that was her regular stop and there was something unusual or memorable about her that day, or there was video footage that spurred someone's memory. But wow, I doubt I could remember one customer from weeks ago.

BBM. A litte OT but about being a "witness". In January, my DH and I were in Macy's doing some last minute pre-cruise shopping. We were deciding when and where to meet when we had both finished making purchases. During our brief conversation, a woman took a nasty spill on the down escalator and ended up at the foot of the moving stairs. I had actually seen her pitch forward, but my DH wasn't facing that direction and only heard the woman cry out. Employees and customers rushed to help the woman, and it seemed like hours before EMS arrived.

In the meantime, I left Macy's to go to another store but learned upon my return to Macy's that witnesses were being sought regarding the escalator incident. I thought that I was doing the right thing by leaving my name and phone# because I had actually seen the woman start her fall to the bottom of the moving stairs. I later hoped that they didn't contact me because I feared being grilled in a courtroom  I watch too much Law & Order for my own good :D BTW, I wasn't contacted, so I guess there must have been enough witnesses without my input. jmo

After looking at the maps again, I'm convinced the newscaster was talking about the NW Imbrie location. I'm basing that on the fact it's next door to FM and literally right off Cornelius Pass. The Butler Street location is a bit further down the road and quite a ways off Cornelius Pass Road.

Guess where I need to go today for one school supply we forgot? Fred Meyer!!! I will see if I can manage to get out to that one and I promise to check out both Starbucks mentioned here.

Quoting my own post but I did make a quick run out there today. Just confirming what someone mentioned earlier that there is a Starbucks inside FM on Imbrie as well as next door. The Starbucks on NW Butler is about a block or so away with a drive through. Correcting myself from what I said earlier, the Butler location is actually facing Cornelius Pass Rd. I would think if she stopped at Fred Meyer though that she would have visited the Starbucks inside the store. JMO

Meanwhile, the grand jury continued to hear testimony in the case Tuesday. Two women who work at a Starbucks Horman allegedly visited the morning Kyron disappeared testified for more than two hours.

So she went to a Starbucks and didn't include that anywhere in her timeline?

And like PDXMom, I hope I'm never called as a witness. I can't remember the details of what I did last weekend! Yikes.

Do you have to log on to their network? TIA

Yup -- you search for wireless on your computer, and (depending on the area), many should come up. You click on the Starbucks option, and NO user name or password is required (darn). The service is provided by AT&T WIFI.

I know she has a laptop, per Kaine, but if she was in a SB for any particular amount of time, that would definitely skew with the timeline.

I'm sure the SB employee's are detailing that to the GJ.

ALSO, you don't get free wifi if you go to a kiosk in a grocery store -- you have to go to a coffee house. But they do have free wifi if you go to a food court.

Okay, I'm babbling now. Bottom line, I don't see how AT&T could observe the sights she may have visited. Maybe someone can help me out here.

All the best,

Mel

Wouldnt her computer have logged evey sight she connected to the web from and would her phone would grab signals automatic if it has interent package?

I talk to regulars at work alot and know all about stuff in their personal lives but to get 2 hours out of me I would have to tell them about every conversation I have had with some of them and I have had the same regulars for 10 yrs.
It isnt like she went in there and gave them a full detailed confession.

Hi, I'm not sure if this has been answered yet but each computer has its own address attached to it, things can be traced that way. I have 3 computers at home and each one has its own IP address, (internet provider)

Yes, if I'm out and and about and I leave my wireless on (easy to do), it will grab any open site. Once you're out of the area, unavailable sites dissapear (I don't know if they are stored in your computer). Same with a phone, like a Blackberry. I have a cheapo phone, so I don't have that experience.

In any case, there has to be a way to find something on her computer via computer forensics. Yet, it her computer was completely shut down during that time -- or wasn't with her -- then we'll have to toss that idea :(

The thing about these Starbucks inside the Freddy's is that they are very open to the store. It doesn't feel like you're entering a coffee shop - it's more like stopping at a large kiosk on your way out (they're often positioned right by the registers and/or near an entrance).

I also wonder if she didn't hit up a Starbucks on the way to the gym.

The landscaper in the alleged murder-for-hire plot involving Terri Horman testified before the grand jury, sources told KOIN Local 6.

In a story first reported by The Oregonian, Terri Horman allegedly tried to hire a landscaper to kill Kaine Horman six to seven months before Kyron Horman disappeared.

KL6 has confirmed investigators used an undercover agent on June 26 in an effort to get Terri to open up about the alleged plot. When the agent and the landscaper arrived at the Horman residence on Northwest Sheltered Nook Road that evening, Terri called 911 to report trespassers on the property, foiling the sting.

Law enforcement has not commented about the sting or whether it resulted in any evidence useful in their investigation.

According to retired Portland Police Capt. C.W. Jensen, the grand jury is looking at this because it paints them a picture of Terri's character.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/kyron-hormans-stepmother-allegedly-husband-killed-report/story?id=11086039

One month after the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman, police reportedly said a landscaper told them the Oregon boy's stepmother tried to hire him to kill her husband, Kaine Horman. The allegation, first reported in The Oregonian but confirmed by ABC News affiliate KATU-TV in Portland through a source close to the investigation, thickens the cloud of suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, the last person to see Kyron before he went missing on June 4.

Sources close to the investigation told the newspaper that police alerted Kaine Horman to the allegation on June 26, which they said is what prompted him to move out of the family home with his 19-month-old daughter and to file for divorce and a restraining order against his wife.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/kyron-hormans-stepmother-allegedly-husband-killed-report/story?id=11086039

A landscaper who said Kyron Horman's stepmother offered to pay him to kill her husband about six or seven months ago went back to Terri Moulton Horman on June 26 at the urging of police.

This time, he wore a body wire and was accompanied by an undercover officer. On the recorded conversation, he sought $10,000 from her, saying otherwise he would go to police with the murder-for-hire plot, sources said.

Terri Horman apparently cut off the conversation fairly quickly, sources said.

She is the last person known to have seen Kyron, a second-grader at Skyline School, before he disappeared June 4. Large-scale searches found no sign of the 7-year-old.

Authorities deemed the landscaper's account credible and serious, and they shared it with Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, the same afternoon of the undercover operation.

The landscaper's account prompted Kaine Horman to leave his wife and take their 19-month-old daughter. Within two days, he obtained a family law attorney and filed divorce papers and a petition for a restraining order against his wife.

So can we assume that they think he's credible?

So can we assume that they think he's credible?

I would think so. I wouldn't think they would allow a non-credible witness to go in front of the Grand Jury. Wow. Maybe he does know more than originally thought. This is big.

well at least we know one "exists" now... LOL...

I have always thought he was credible but that is just my opinion. In order to do a sting they would have had to be pretty sure that he was being truthful and we do know from court documents that Terri texted with him in a "similar way" as MC... (sexting???) and that is why they brought the sexts with MC to the attention of Kaine.

I suppose I will go dig up the court docs again.... and post them here for reference.

How long have the GJ been meeting now? Seems as if they have finally come to the MFH points in this saga and this is what I believe they have enough to indict her on (at least at this point). I feel as if this is where the "build up" for the GJ on Kyron has turned to the 2nd concerns (ie: MFH) and now they are getting to the backup charges they can arrest her for.
