Just returned from the hearing. I was surprised at how few spectators were there. Maranade Dave and me!! That's it. Jose had two clerks (or his daughter and a student), Jim L. and the local newscasters. Most of the seats were empty. I didn't recognize the man at the end of Jim L.'s row. Wonder who he is with curly dark hair and a distinguishing nose. No Cindy, no George, no Brad C. So we learn that the trial will begin May 16. By the way, school in Florida began last Monday in most counties.

Uh, this is HHJP's court. Baez may not meet the deadlines, but that trial is starting May, 2011. It's Baez's own fault if he has nothing to bring to it.

Who thinks he'll try for a plea deal the day before the trial is supposed to start? I do!

*claps loudly* I work for the Dept of Rehabilitation Services in Oklahoma. I was insulted on behalf of the people with real disabilities that I serve everyday. How DARE he act like he can't work on this case when he has no real disability. Bringing in the ADA was SUCH a low thing for him to do. What a classless, tasteless, disgusting thing to do, even as a joke.

Even worse than Baez's joke about the pictures from a yard sale that they had. He told the SA that they had pictures that disputed the items taken from the Anthony's home. (but they were just kidding)

I think the problem with Cheney is threefold:

1. He has a good old boy accent

2. He talks like he has mush in his mouth

3. His mustache hides his lips so we can't read them

Put those all together, and I truly only understand about 30% of what he says. Anyone who has been in the courtroom, is he easier to understand when you are there in person?

I can't understand most of what he says either. Its not #1 for me because I live in the south, and I can understand the accent. Its not his age (that he constantly brings up as an excuse!) because he isn't that old. He says he's still a few years away from being on Medicare. So he's what, 62 or 63? Come on, that's hardly elderly.

I think he just doesn't speak clearly. Its just lazy pronunciation.

I have a question... why was HHJP so jovial with CM today? I find most of CM's joking to be in very poor taste and it didn't seem to phase the judge today.

Imo, the only thing this hearing did was repeat to JB that he needs to get his a@@ in gear and get to work. He seems to be the ultimate procrastinator. He can't leave everything to the last minute. Judge is being very nice, I think.

In Session closing now, a day of KC. Jean C. on In-Session said this hearing today could taint jury pool as school is not in today and people home w/their children might have been watching today

Central Florida schools are all back in session, with the last of the counties starting last week.
Miami-Dade and Broward district schools went back August 23rd.
Palm Beach county started August 17 and Tampa on August 24.

Is she confusing school start dates with northern school districts?

May 9th is the day they will start jury selection. They can issues their subpoena's for the 16th.

I don't understand why they can't start before May 9th. This date was chosen because Atty Lyons daughter would be graduating from college. She's no longer on the case so I say 'let's get on with this". If I were KC and truly innocent (and I don't believe she is) I would be screaming from the rooftops that they need to get on with this show so I could get out of jail. Honestly, what "innocent" person is going to sit in an isolated jail cell for 2 years because your "attorneys" (if you can call them that) keep playing games?
