The Judge schooled and scolded.
Says they will work 8:45am-5-pm, they'llwork 6 days a week, to pack a little lunch. The jury will be picked by May9, trial the 16th.

Time for Baez and Co to be working hard.

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah. cm says he can do 30 depos a day.
lolololol
He'd take a day alone with me cuz I'd be like "huh?" "cuse me, can you say that again" "what?" and so on.........
imo

Ok everyone...I'm away right now and have not read the entire thread...so I'm begging...can someone just tell me if anything remotely interesting came out of the hearing? Pretty please?! TIA

Interesting to me that Dominic is not the one who turned over all this emails with the psychic guy and his groupies .... it was a "third party" (I assume Luke P) who turned them over to law enforcement, and LE turned them over to the State. That tells me that Dominic STILL is not cooperating and telling what he knows.

Also interesting that CM is doing allllllllllll 35 depositions on Friday, not JB??!!

The new Amended Defense witness list is interesting for who they took OFF their list, more so than who they added.

And Judge P. made a new rule - if you file a Motion, it WILL BE heard within 15 days. Do not file a motion unless you plan to have a Hearing on it within 15 days. He does not want the case file clogged up with Motions just dangling there.

and there will be a Hearing for JA to argue with JB over NOT sending DNA samples to the NETHERLANDS for the Defense experts to test. JA said the testing needs to be done in a local, certified ASPHLAT(?) lab. JB tried to say it would save money because those experts would do it pro bono. JA said, NO - the State/JAC can pay for it to be done here.

That's a great question, but I do not think they have are required to file a complaint.

I just thought that was why Judge S. filed a Bar complaint ... because he was obligated to do so...

JP says he will set depo schedule if need be, but he will book them into evening if necessary.
CM says that he can do that many in that day and he is the one doing them.

Are LDB and CM bickering here about depos and how to set them up? REALLY? She says that it is unacceptable how her own defense colleague set up the depo schedule? To the judge?

Cant they call each other at home to discuss this? I mean, what kind of relevant info are we going to get from these 35 LE? That they are adulterers, drug addicts...something that will somehow discredit their testimony, right? That one of them put Caylee's body there??

I mean really.

The thing is, the Defense was supposed to coordinate the dates for depositions with both the witness and the State - and the Defense did not do this, which violates the rules of Criminal Procedure. CM just sent out subpoenas to 35 people without coordinating anything. They get away with this, yet again. LDB said it was unacceptable to start the depo and only have 10 minutes, then have to bring the witness back another day to finish a depo - that was unacceptable. CM said he would get them all done that day.

I watched a program on Discovery ID which involved the Dutch couple. A judge allowed evidence to be taken to The Netherlands. However, there was no "shipping". To preserve the chain of evidence, the sample had to be hand carried back and forth! Let's see, how much would THAT cost?

That DNA ain't going anywhere but a certified lab.

I also tend to agree with the caller who said that many people have lost interest in the case. Not everyone follows it so closely as we do.

I know my own mother started out following the case and she lost interest a LONG time ago because the case has dragged on for so long. I believe she isn't the only one who feels that way.

And then there are those who never even followed the case to begin with... and just heard bits and pieces along the way. So for some, hearing the tapes at trial MAY still be their first time....

I agree, even though I live about an hr and half away I dont know many who follow this case. If I said Casey Anthony to them, they wouldn't have a clue. its true!!
It might be different in Orlando. I dont know but they definately need to replay the tapes/ We saw alot of it on TV here at first but most people do not follow much except for when it first happened and then news goes on to something else.
It HAS dragged on too long.

I've seen them on 48 hours in the Tim Masters case, Baez probably saw the same show.

There is ONE hair and I hope to all that is holy that the Judge would never trust Baez enough to let it out of the States. If he wants that couple to inspect it pro bono then they need to travel to America and inspect it
here. No other scenario would be acceptable. Maybe Baez should have saved some of that $275,000 so he could fly the couple over to do the inspection - but he was too busy spending the money on investigating Kronk and filling bogus motions.

Just goes to prove how little "real" work Baez has done on this case and how money was wasted - money the defense should never have had access to in the first place.

This is priceless! From the team of "junk science" cheerleaders comes the desire to put $$$$$ over recognized, regulated laboratories and scientists performing the testing! By definition, most forensic testing is performed by laboratories certified by "
The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) is the oldest and most well known crime/forensic laboratory accrediting body in the world. ASCLD/LAB has been accrediting crime laboratories since 1982 and currently accredits most of the federal, state and local crime laboratories in the United States plus forensic laboratories in six countries outside of the United States." PS: the Netherlands are NOT one of the 6 countries outside of the USA.

Too bad LKB wasn't present to argue this issue for JB, perhaps she'll be the spokesperson when it will really count at the NEXT hearing!

:twocents:MANY MANY THANKS to all who provided the proverbial blow by blow coverage of the slug-fest, wish I had been able to watch but you all covered it perfectly!:woohoo:

That's probably the one I saw. The thing is, they specialize in touch DNA. In that case, it was a cold case and they sent a jacket to see if they could find DNA from where the perp could have touched it.

What evidence could the defense want to test for touch DNA? It would have to be something not out in the elements for months. Could it be a piece of the duct tape that was covered by other duct tape?

The Netherlands? Well that's a hinky request. Perhaps he was hoping for stored DNA from Joran Vandersloot. Yah, Joran did it (insert sarcasm here).

I thought I heard them say it was about the hair sample.

I seem to remember them inspecting evidence in the JonBenét case (think I saw this in a documentary) but can't put my hands on a link so far.

Now discussing entomological items that JB wants further testing on. Also JB wants DNA tested further, JA says his condition is that he wants a certified lab to be used for the testing. Defense wants to send it to Netherlands??? SA objects to sending it there.
Folks, sorry, little confusing.
JP says they will go through a list of pending motions. Says once they file a motion it will be heard and within 15 days and then disposed. Says they will do them at 5pm if need be, even 6pm to get them heard within the 15 day period.

Interesting! I have this vague memory of a case, I think it was a cold case.... seems like a special lab in the Netherlands did some very specialized testing on some DNA and solved the case. Sorry I can't remember the case or the details. Maybe someone else will remember. But the best I can remember is that this lab does a lot of experimental testing.

ETA I made the comment while I was still reading the thread. Of course someone here noted the comment, recognized the context and relayed the info! Thanks you all, I couldn't remember the details.

Then again, I live in Canada and today my cable provider stopped carrying In Session and replaced it with ID channel. When I called to complain and cancel the channel I explained that I was obsessed with a case involving a mother who didn't report her child missing and the customer service agent said " You mean Casey Anthony? Yeah I've been following that too."

I must have completely misunderstood him, as I thought he said he had been on Medicare for about 2 years now.

oops. I was having a hard time hearing him, you are probably right. :blushing:

There is no link up yet for the hearing, it probably won't be posted on WFTV until tomorrow.
